Straight away, I had 4 of the 6 pre-sets read to go, including a couple of internet radio stations and local music from my iTunes. My only gripe with the Speaker (more so, with the SoundTouch eco-system, rather than the speaker) is the lack of Amazon Music support in the UK at the moment. The app lists it as a supported service, however logging into my Amazon Music account produces a ā€˜not yet supported on this platform in your region’ error message. While the SoundTouch 10 does not natively support Apple’s Airplay protocol, I found that using the standard Bluetooth connection from my iPhone was still incredibly easy and sound quality was still very good. This can be achieved by going to Settings -> Bluetooth and then connecting to the SoundTouch 10 speaker. From then on, when you play some audio on the phone, it will be transferred to the speaker.I immediately began to throw a variety of music and sources at the speaker to test the sound quality and I was blown away by the quality of such a small speaker. The speaker packs a real punch with the bass, even at low volume levels, really giving depth to the music that you are listening to. I like the fact that you can reduce the bass within the SoundTouch app, however I am pleased to say that I have not had to do this, owing testament to the Bose engineer’s choice from the factory. The volume that this little speaker can reach is incredibly surprising, easily filling our large (19ft long) kitchen with the sound travelling throughout the house and into the garden. As I am typing this review, I am sat upstairs with the volume set to around 60% and it is plenty loud enough. After tinkering for a day or two, I soon realised that the SoundTouch 10 speaker connects to the Samsung SmartThings hub and I became very giddy with what could be done. I now have the speaker set up to automatically start playing when certain actions happen and ensure that the speaker turns itself off when everyone leaves the house.Overall, I am incredibly happy with the SoundTouch 10 speaker and I will certainly be purchasing more of them for other rooms in the house. After ā€˜testing the water’ with the SoundTouch 10, I can certainly say that I will not hesitate in buying the bigger SoundTouch 20 or SoundTouch 30 for rooms that require the larger size.

Nice little speaker.

These speakers are EXCELLENT. I already knew that as I already had a pair. They are of a very small size but pack quite a punch. The sound quality is second to none. I got this one to replace one that failed after over 10 years of flawless daily use. Must be something simple like a blown internal transformer, but hard to tell, so I replaced it with this one from eBay. They are still available in the US, but not in Canada. Bose shut all their outlets north of the border.

Spotty functionality, poor app.

Again, there seemed to be no solid reason as to why this was happening. When attempting to reset the speaker, it would cycle through the lights and become unresponsive, I would have to cut the power and plug it back in to fully reset it.I do have the app and tried to "control" it from where, which didn't really solve any problems. The app was poorly designed and I couldn't get the "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" button to workLook: It's a small grey speaker that's easy to move and set up somewhere else should you so choose. Given how well the sound distributes if you can get it work positioning is little concern given how great this functionality of the speaker is.I wish I could have rated this speaker higher, however it's connectability was awful and really hampered the entire experience. I tried to cast to it directly from my phone, taking Alexa out of the mix, and it was still spotty at best, the Bluetooth seems to turn off or become disconnected for no reason. It was frustrating to use, and unfortunately I could not recommend it as it's only high point.

This is a BOSE product?
30 September 2019

I have been listening to my 2 Bose speakers for a month now. I have used different apps to try and adjust the sound quality to no avail. I am so disappointed in this product and I really expected that with these speakers having the "BOSE" name, I would hear a nice deep beautiful sound. I did research several products before purchasing these speaker's and I even went to the store that I purchased them from to HEAR the sound of the speakers before purchasing. I bought 2 speakers to have the ability to hear the true authentic sound one would expect from "BOSE". I wanted to hear the deep rich under tones, and deep bass with every sound of the songs I listened to, to be distinguishable from each other, only to find sub-par sound coming from these speakers. I can not believe that these are BOSE. The volume of these speakers are less than I had hoped too. I am not sure why anyone would give anymore than a one star rating, but maybe they do not have the experience at true listening skills that I have developed over time. I have beyond excellent capabilities when it comes to hearing. So I can honestly say without hesitation these speakers only rate a one star and absolutely no more. BOSE engineer's, you have really failed here. Please go back to the drawing board and produce the quality of product this name should have. And to BOSE, sell this design to some off brand and move on. Thank you for reading. By the way, I am rating the other items 1 star even if I truly believe it does deserve more stars, because I absolutely do not want my rating of the other areas to distort the first and foremost rating, which of course is SOUND. I would like to note that the other areas, like ease of use, would get at least 4 stars, and my average star ratings, excluding sound quality, would rank a 3 to 4 star rating. So the other less important items are average, however, again to repeat myself, the only true measure should be about the sound quality, period.

This little speaker has plenty of volume!
20 August 2023

This Bose SoundTouch 10 is a great little speaker with plenty of volume. It loudly fills the 1st floor of my house with sound (about 1,100 s.f. downstairs) and is likely heard upstairs, too. I listen to it as I work at my laptop, playing songs through my I-Phone 14. The speaker does not automatically link to my IPhone when turned on, but a simple bluetooth connection tap on my I-Phone links them up with no problem. For whatever reason, my Dell laptop shows it links up to the speaker through bluetooth, but no sound plays. I cannot blame this on the speaker, because it may be the fault of my 10-year old laptop. I did use a plug wire to connect the two and the speaker worked well. The speaker is powered through A/C only --- no battery, but that's fine for my purposes. ...Ā MoreThis Bose SoundTouch 10 is a great little speaker with plenty of volume. What A Disappointment!

In 1976 I bought my first pair of Bose 901 speakers. There’s nothing like the sound of a Bose speaker and I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. I purposely held off writing a review of the speakers specifically until I spent sufficient time listening to them. Also, in order to use the speakers you have to use the SoundTouch App so I really wanted to evaluate both and give a solid review.Out of the box the speakers are solid, durable and look well made. The design is simple and works well in any home. The top of the speaker is poorly designed, cluttered with a lot of unnecessary buttons you’ll never use; the same buttons are in the app and that’s where you’ll actually appreciate them.In order to set up each speaker you have to download the SoundTouch app. Following what appears to be simple instructions will soon turn into a nightmare. Some speakers connect easily while others don’t. My speakers are connected to my computer via a router and although one speaker connects another will not. Bose support will blame you, your home, your router, firewalls and your internet provider. They will not take any responsibility for the product and don’t be surprised if they disconnect the call. I restarted my computer and router several times but didn’t have much luck. After 5 hours and making numerous attempts I finally got them to work; I don’t know what made them work, it’s a mystery. The success of set-up is dependent on the app and it’s awful; it’s dated in functionality and appearance; looking like it was designed by a fifth grader. There’s also the compatibility issue and that’s really a SoundTouch app issue as well. If you are steaming music you don’t have anything to worry about but if you are accessing your music library, you are in big trouble. The app is really bad but you are stuck using it and there’s no way of getting around it. Also, the app has minimal functionality to adjust sound quality. Speakers sound differently in each room and you cannot make any adjustments other than bass reduction and balance; the app is in total control of how you listen to music.I’d like to reiterate the sound quality of these speakers is very good but the SoundTouch app controls them. Bose is a speaker company and a great one but they have not built a reliable user-friendly app that works to support the product. My speakers only work sometimes and I never know which ones are going to work and when. I’m constantly reinstalling them and they are unreliable; a simple reinstall can take a couple of minutes or hours. Honestly, I’d like to throw them in the trash and buy something else. I’m sure I’d be sacrificing sound quality but I’d like something more reliable and being valued as a customer.

I know this is an old speaker and not well supported anymore, but it is a good speaker and worth keeping connected:After upgrading my Windows 10 Pro desktop PC from 32bit to 64bit architecture, I couldn’t reconnect the Soundtouch 10. Turns out, the speaker wasn’t connecting via Bluetooth (my iPhone and Galaxy phones had no Bluetooth problems.) Here’s what I did to get the speaker connected to the PC:1. I downloaded the Bose Soundtouch 10 app to the PC, installed it and started it.2. I turned on the speaker and connected it to the PC via a USB cable.3. On the speaker, I then pressed the 2 key and the Vol – key simultaneously.4. The app on the PC then requested the name of the WIFI network and password.5. The app also requested signing into an existing Bose account, or creating a new account.6. When done, the Soundtouch 10 app indicated that the speaker was now connected via WIFI and that it was OK to remove the USB cable.7. To test the result, I started Spotify on the PC, changed the speaker device from PC to Bose, and the music played at the remote speaker via WIFI. One final test was to play a Spotify tune on my iPhone, connecting it to the speaker via Bluetooth. Success. As it took a long time to finally figure out that the Bluetooth connection from my PC to the Bose speaker wasn’t going to work and the WIFI connection would, I hope this may be helpful to others with a similar issue.

[Rewarded Review] Love My Bose SoundTouch 10's

I’ve really enjoyed listening to my SoundTouch 10's. I think they’re an excellent product and a great value. The app works well and offers a huge variety of optional ways of playing music. The design, ease of use, and the sound is high-quality Bose. While they will get fairly loud, i don’t believe that was the design goal. For low to mid volume playing, they have very good low bass and excellent mid to high treble sound. I love the 6 preset buttons on both the speaker and the remote. I was so impressed with the one I bought, I quickly bought a second one, and pairing the two for stereo output has really pushed up much higher my listening pleasure. And if I want to separate the stereo pair and place one in another room with a different music source, it’s simple to do, and easy to pair them back up again. NOTE: I did have some early on challenges with device discovery (having the app find the SoundTouch). I always found the Bose Support Techs helpful and courteous, however, they would usually guide me through a reset of the speakers, which I could do myself, and they’d work for a while then start acting up again, and it was not until I spoke with one tech in particular that he resolved it in full. It was in the Wi-Fi router settings. One change had to do with channel selection, which other techs had tried, but also one other router change that the tech said this will solve the device discovery issues for sure. I wish I could tell you what setting that was, sorry. They work flawlessly now. The price has been lowered. Buy two! White is very attractive. Highly recommended!

[Rewarded Review] Love my Soundtouch 10s

I've owned a Bose sound touch 10 for 2 years. 6 months ago I bought a 2nd one to run as a pair. After updating both to make sure they had the same firmware, both connected and were easy to create a group. Some people have complained about sound quality but I have had 0 issues, mine sound great. There are a couple of things to consider when using/placing these speakers:1) these speakers are not designed to crank music in big rooms. Average living room, kitchen, bedroom, they should perform well2) these speakers have a rear sound port. If you want rich/deep lows you cannot place them on an end table in the middle of a room. For best results corner load them, at a minimum have them 2-4 inches from a wall. For best results corner load them, at a minimum have them 2-4 inches from a wall. Also experiment with their placement as with ANY speaker the sweet spot will be relative to where they are placed. If you place as I have directed, then move around the room, you will see that the sound will change as you move and there will be a spot where the sound is the richest. This is due to the sound wave lengths and where you ear is relative to the crest or trough of the base sound wave. You may have to experiment and move the speaker around your room so the sound is better at your desired listening spot. The sound touch app is simple and clean. Almost too basic but I love being able to access/play my spotify and satellite radio accounts through the speakers. The bluetooth capability is good, and I love the 6 presets so I can save my favorite online radio stations.I love my speakers so much I bought 2 more to add to my network.
