I've had this about a week now and don't have anything negative to say about it. This Blues Driver is really nice and warm, plays with other pedals very nicely and has tons of reactance, much more than my OCD which will be sitting on the shelf for a while now. I compared this pedal with my soul food, OCD and MXR BADistortion. The Soul Food is unique enough to keep on my board - I like it - and the Blues Driver will replace my OCD. The two are basically the same pedal (IMO) with the BD having ALOT more reactance to how hard the strings are hit. I like also that the BDriver is a little less 'middy' than the version 7 OCD. I bought the Waza version because it was only $40 or so more than the standard version and I'm not disappointed at all. Very quiet with a slight ... Very quiet with a slight variation in tone thickness when switching between the C and S options. For leads I run my MXR Full Bore Metal pedal through this or my soul food (amazing). This Blues Driver delivers the same low volume swell and harmonics that the I was using the OCD for and used by itself for some bluesy tones, it is much better than the OCD, even more reactive than my amp when slightly driven. I play an LTD ESP through a Fender Bassbreaker 15 combo with extra cab.

Bought for use with my Tweed Blues Jr. Not a big pedal guy, but have always stuck with Boss when needed. I own both the original BD-2 and recently got the BD-2 Waza. They both are very different pedals, while the bd-2 is more tame, less distortion, less bright. The Waza on Custom seems to have much more gain and is brighter that it's predecessor. I'd almost say that these 2 pedals could be used very differently and side by side. The original is good for a smooth less gain od, while the waza can get into some pretty thick distortion depending on the gain setting, which is a good thing. The waza can emulate the original, but you will find the gain way down and the tone in a much different position. It's a great OD pedal so don't hesitate. Well, they both are as a ... It arrived quickly, packaged very well. It appears to be in like mint shape with original box & all accompinated paperwork. I havent placed it on my board yet - considering building a new small board - 4/5 pedal board. Gathering other Boss WAZA pedals. I guess the special Waza pedals appeal to me as more of a boutique pedal with more to offer than the stock Boss pedals. Ill update more as I use it longer & get a better feel for it. Honestly I havent used it yet, as I just received it last week.

Is this pedal for you? I suppose that depends on what you're looking for. So let's start with what this pedal isn't. As you might expect from a pedal called the blues driver. It's not for metal. Of any kind. It is however perfectly suited to blues, and will work for classic rock just as well. You could probably even stretch into country a bit, but that's about it.It also isn't a tube screamer. Which is good, because if that's what you want. So if you want a tube screamer get that, not this.Alright, let's talk about what this is. So if you want a tube screamer get that, not this.Alright, let's talk about what this is. A Great sounding pedal, that can get some pretty diverse tones.I've found it impersonates David Gilmour's tone on the 2nd solo of comfortably numb pretty well via a low saturation boost. Which has a great percussive effect when doing so.Crank the gain up and it does the wall of sound thing with power chords nicely. In other words. It has a lot more gain on tap than the TS808. Again, it's not a TS.It's smooth, creamy, and despite this. Very clear and articulated, with lot's of definition on single notes. Even under heavy gain loads. So what sets this Waza Craft edition apart? It's quite a bit less noisy, and has the custom circuit mode. Which beefs of the sound quite a bit by adding some mid range. So is the custom mode better? No. It's just different. Gives you more tonal options, which is good because the middy custom mode might sound flat on a Marshall, while the standard mode could be harsh through a fender. Depending on what kind of guitar you're using, and how you EQ.Is it worth paying an extra $60 for the Waza version? That all depends on you, how much you have to spend, what else you need, and what you're using it for. And what kind of pickups you're using.I would say beginner - intermediate players can save themselves some $$$ and buy the original. Gigging mucians, advanced level players, and people who do a lot of recording will probably appreciate the lower noise threshold, and wider tone palette.
Excellent pedal. I had never owned an original BD2 before i bought this so I couldn't truly compare but from what I understand the only real difference is the switch above the tone knob. Standard voicing(BD2) or custom voicing. I prefer the custom and leave it set on that always. The difference is relatively subtle but I find the custom sound to be just a little bit brighter. Also seems to me that it gives just a tad more sustain and has just a little bit more crunch at high gain settings. I pretty much never turn this pedal off when I'm playing. I use it for all of my so-called clean tones. I put a compressor in front of it and I keep the gain rolled back and it adds a very subtle but amazing coloration to the tone. And then I also use it for 90 percent of my ... MoreExcellent pedal. And then I also use it for 90 percent of my high-gain tones. Paired with a fuzz in front and an EQ and reverb after I can get a variety of tones that I love from heavy doom sludgey stoner rock to classic fender tube amp tones to Clapton sounding fuzziness to massive walls of shoegazey thickness ala my bloody valentine. It works fantastic with both single coils and humbuckers. I use it with my les paul and telecaster and it reacts perfectly to both of them. I even use it with my bass sometimes it works surprisingly well just doesn't exactly fit with a bass cuts out some of the low end but good for some stuff. In short this an awesome pedal I love it. It interacts wonderfully with every other effect I use therefore is extremely versatile and it's a boss pedal so it's extremely durable.
Have been really impressed with this pedal so far - it has great tone and it does everything you would expect of it and more. The custom switch is a great touch and adds a nice extra dimension to what was already a great pedal. Definitely recommend for blues players but I think anyone playing rock would get a great deal from this pedal as well
I have owned Tubescreamer a Klon Clone and a booster pedal and can honestly say this is the best Overdrive / Dirt pedal I’ve ever used, the Custom mode is an easy switch and and a useful extra feature unlike many other jazzed up OD pedals. Great for all genres, even though it’s obviously aimed at Blues it works just as well for Rock and even Metal. You can use it as a Booster, an OD and even a more than passable Fuzz at extreme gain settings. One of the few pedals where the gain doesn’t mangle the tone no matter how much you crank it.
This is the go to pedal my blues guitar tutor in the US uses and I wanted to emulate his sound, and I have achieved that. I bought the BD2 rather than the BD1 in order to obtain the improved sound quality over the original pedal and I am very content that I did. It has a much richer sound. But for me the stand out characteristic is the extra sustain which I find fantastic. Once you have tuned your ear, paying more for quality becomes part of the journey. Is it value for the money? For me - yes. If your ear is not yet tuned - probably not.
I got this and the warhorn around the same time so I could decide which one I like better. Ended up liking both. The warhorn is better for country and Texas blues. Waza blues is better for classic sounding blues and rock. I've been using it lately to learn some Pink Floyd solos. The tone is almost exactly like the recordings with the drive a third of the way up or so with a Strat through a blackstar ht 60 mk2. I've got the waza metal zone for heavy stuff and the waza blues and walrus audio warhorn for classic sounds. I recommend all three. The blues driver and warhorn are very similar so you could go with one or the other if you stick to a certain sound mostly.
