As a valve amp `nerd` and gigging musician since the early seventies, the Katana 100 / 2x12 is the one to buy. I have owned the Artist combo, but it is a 1 x 12 and lacks the `thump` of the 2 x 12. The `Tone Studio` software can be a bit of a pain to set up, but beyond that it's good all the way. Katana`s can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. A great gigging solution with 99% of the sound and `feel` of a valve/tube amp. Fantastic value for not much money. And works as a great pedal platform, which is how I use mine, in Stereo with a 20 watt Fender Valve combo.

Brilliant Amp! this text box may not be enough to write about this amp - I can go on and on - dynamic response and feel as good as a tube amp. Mighty thrilled with the purchase. I compose ane write my own music - breeze to record and also looking at a few mates to start doing some gigs. Couple of rehearsals - easily stayed up with a loud drummer and also the tones at hand - outstanding. Having a bit of trouble with the tone studio but there are bucket loads of tones straight of the top panel so dont miss the tone studio at all. Get the Footswitch - opens up options in the amp even more. All in all brilliant amp

Excellent amp. Up until now, I have been using a Katana 50 which I like a lot, so when I wanted more volume for gigging I chose the 100 twin and am very pleased with it. I think the tones are great straight out of the box, but can be fantastic with a bit of tweaking. If you want really classic tones I think it it's important to be subtle with the effects otherwise it's easy to spoil the sound and make it sound digital. Crank the effects only when you actually want/need them. The twin cabinet really sounds rich.

BOSS created the product like a boss, and confirms it's the boss on this market.I own the old 50 watt Katana and the Katana Mini. Both are great. Just bought the Katana 100 mk2, and yes, after whole day spent on setting and playing - I love it.Whatever you need - crispy or warm cleans, crunch or hi-gain sounds you will get it from this amp. I bought a week ago KATAlist from some multi-Line company, and I am sending it back. That thing is good only for couch, while Katana is great for practicing, recording and life shows (assuming you will buy the foot controller). To summarize:- great sounding- very flexible- very nicely priced- relatively small and lightweightYou can't go wrong buying it.

Great amp

Wasn’t sure about all the hype around the Katana, but for the price it really is great value. I’ve owned more expensive valve amps and they didn’t sound as good as the Katana.I’ve tried amp modellers and sometimes find there’s just too many effects, amp sims etc and it can get overwhelming. The hardware options on the amp are plenty, and if you want to dive deeper then the tone studio is pretty good. The power attenuator allows playing at quite bedroom levels at 0.5 watts, I have the volume in 2 or 3 and even that’s pretty loud for a small room. Even at 0.5 watts cranked its very loud!!It also sounds great, which is probably most important, not sure if it’s the way the amp is built but I find it really responsive to the volume and tone pots on all my guitars, even ... MoreWasn’t sure about all the hype around the Katana, but for the price it really is great value. Incredibly versatile with no compromise

I upgraded to this from an old Marshall MG30DFX, and the quality difference is immense. Albeit, that amp was a good 10+ years old, but I did not realise just how bad it sounded until I could compare it with the sound of this.I'm most impressed with how versatile it is, you can get any sound you want, from sharp, clean sounds to the heaviest, dirtiest chugs. As a somewhat beginner guitarist, I feel this amp is perfect to carry me through as I learn guitar.Highly recommend.

LOVE IT

I have the MKII 100 watt 1x12. Ive been playing for over 30 years. Ive done it all. This amp I purchased in store after listening to it. I wanted an amp that i could just plug and play at my gigs, but was loud enough to cut through the mix, or mic'd. I honestly was too sure about the tube situation (war in Ukraine) so i kept my tube amps at home. I purchased the amp, and within 5 mins had the sound i wanted and started gigging with it. 1. loud! 2. Quality sound 3. No brainer! for this price point and i got mine before the price went up, i should have bought two. Its built like a brick. Im extremely impressed. I play all kinds of music from country to Rock, this amp will provide ANYTHING you need. Listen to me, if you are a first time buyer go ahead and get it, or ... MoreI have the MKII 100 watt 1x12. If you are a gigging musician and dont want your tube amps to wear and tear, then get this thing. You cannot be disappointed. If you are, then maybe you have bigger issues. This amp (Boss) has knocked out of the park!!! wayyyy out there. Great thing about this amp, if it craps out one day, i will simply go buy another no questions asked. Like i stated before this is just a no brainer. Prices are high on everything, but Boss is keeping this price point incredibly reasonable. They are making alot of money not on price point but on qty sold. Thats the way to do it! your product is on all the stages, sounds incredible, keep it up Boss!!!

Review of Boss Katana 100 MkII 1x12 Guitar Amp Combo
14 May 2023

Been looking at a Katana for a while, ever since trying a guitar through one at Andertons. After checking out reviews and You Tube videos, I decided I was going to take the plunge. But which one? Both the 50 and the 100 did what I needed, and an Airstep pedal meant that I could do all the switching I needed on either. In the end, I decided that the effects loop and additional presets on the 100 gave me better future proofing, in case I ever want to take it out of the bedroom.I think I have made the right decision, despite not setting it beyond 0.5W so far.All I have left is to learn how to shape the sound myself, without relying on other people’s patches. And work on that 4th chord

Versatile but noisy
16 January 2023

Out of the box, this amp is rather unimpressive. Hooking it up to a PC and using the Tone Studio software is absolutely essential. The range of tones, boosters, distortion, effects etc. are available from the Boss catalogue for you to run wild within Tone Studio. However the amp is rather noisy, a lot of buzz and hiss which is not present in my other amps. The on board noise supressor, which is accessed by Tone Studio, does not do a great job of hiding this noise either. Despite this I still give the amp a 4 for its range of sounds which inspire creativity, the amp is repatively affordable, the gain and distortion is great for metal and this is a good option for both bedroom recording artists or jamming at the practice space with your band.
