What an ace piece of kit. After playing my Ibanez through a valve amp for years, the change to this is incredible. The variations of tone on the guitar are picked up and the range of variations seem endless. All for a great price too.

A lot has been said about it. It is a very good entry level Amp to enjoy Boss's vast array of tones and use with your first band situation. You can not go wrong, it is Boss Roland product.A tadd spikey in the face high frequencies. Use EQ to your advantage and noise gate a must for high gain to brown spund selection. Clean is reminiscent of JC120 and crunch is reasonable. As for its role as a practice Amp, it is not a match to THR nor Spark in so far as audio playback is concerned. Mushy, vague playback is not conducive to inspiring practice a long with playback backing.

I love this amp! There's a learning curve for all the effects settings, but it's a great sounding amp. I am particularly impressed with the acoustic channel… my Ovation sounds fantastic thru that. Wide range of effects is impressive also. Glad i chose this one.
I've owned many amps and my main gigging amp has been a 1968 Deluxe Reverb for the past 20 years. Does it sound as good as the Fender? No, but it is very very close. This amp can do any sound you want and really feels and sounds like a tube amp in my opinion. I bought it because I wanted something more reliable and was tired of worrying about the Deluxe Reverb breaking down during a gig. I highly recommend the Boss Katana. It is not only great for the money that you pay, it is just generally a really great amp and a great value.
Paired this head with my Zilla Cabs 2 x 12 and the sound quality and versatility is excellent. I have 4 well known valve amps, but I find that the Katana is more useful for home playing and practice, mainly because it's easier to get good tones from it at home volumes. It's handy having the Boss effects built in, certainly some of my dedicated pedals sound better but for home practice and recording, the Katana is a simpler plug and play solution. This is a great example of something that conforms to the 80/20 rule, if it does 80% of what I need, why waste time chasing down that other 20%? In fact, I'd say it's more like 90/10 in this case, the Katana MkII is a a great Swiss Army Knife of an amp.
BOSS created the product like a boss, and confirms it's the boss on this market.I own the old 50 watt Katana and the Katana Mini. Both are great. Just bought the Katana 100 mk2, and yes, after whole day spent on setting and playing - I love it.Whatever you need - crispy or warm cleans, crunch or hi-gain sounds you will get it from this amp. Plus - lot of BOSS stomp boxes available as plugins (7 at a time, where 5 manageable by additional GA-FC foot switch).Bit ugly, but fully working BOSS Tone Studio software for setting each aspect of this amp and available effects).Total 9 presets (channel Ax4, channel Bx4 plus "Panel"). Combined with switchable effects quite ok to play a gig.Considering the price/value ratio this amp is an unbeatable champion on the ... I bought a week ago KATAlist from some multi-Line company, and I am sending it back. That thing is good only for couch, while Katana is great for practicing, recording and life shows (assuming you will buy the foot controller). To summarize:- great sounding- very flexible- very nicely priced- relatively small and lightweightYou can't go wrong buying it.
It's a game changer. In over 5 decades, I have played with dozens of the greatest jazz musicians in the world. Because of the demands of the business, both in performance and travel, I have sought out amplifiers with a small footprint, power to spare, and built ruggedly for travel over the years. This amp fits the bill and more. I no longer use a pedal board; the effects on board are killer, and the ability to save settings is a critically important and practical feature; regarding any performance. The net? I'd buy it again!
I’m an amp collector, I run open mics and play in a Cornish folk rock harmony band, we play public halls to small theatres and Cornwall best festivals, I already own a hand full of fender amps, valve and tonemaster series, but I’ve come back to the boss katana because no other amp can offer the wide range of tones and reliability that the katana 50 mk 2 ex cab offer me. This is a fantastic work horse, easy to carry, no fuss set up, line out to the Pa and the gafc is the upgrade I’ve been waiting for in the 50. The powered cab option is so useful, so you see this amp, has everything you need, I love my valve amps for the inspiration to play like a king and this new katana does exactly that. Pmt shipped this with no fuss, pmt is my favourite shop, wish the have a ... It is very good, but I have some problems with finding a good place for it at home. It requires access from all sides. Operating elements are on the top (and closer to the back side) and on the back-side surface as well. The biggest problem for me is power cable, it sticks out from the back side surface (standard PC power cable) and does not give to put it by the back side on the table or to the wall. In combination with that it is opened type (loudspeaker is open from the back) and if you have small children as well….it is a problem. Actually, it is designed for placing on the amp stand. Any way my comments are quite specific…..
