I thought this was a gimmick pedal when it first came out. 10 years later and I'm a convert. It's chorus, it's octave, it's Lesley, it's awesome. All the demo's I've seen were on clean rigs, mates really well with heavy distortion and fuzz. If ya after a different type of modulation, give it a go👍🤘

I could not believe the demo for this pedal. The player really got into it, so I ordered one for myself. The Boss MO-2 turns your guitar into a B-3 on the clean channel and with a little overdrive, you get a variety of different effects to happen. The 3-position dial also includes string and bright settings, so there is lots to explore. I don't usually use detune functions, but it's there for a chance to experiment. This pedal came out with other Boss pedals with new chip technology. I think it's worth checking out the demo and then decide if this pedal is for you.

Awesome pedal!! This thing is WILD! It actually gives your electric guitar that organ/ synth tone as well as mimicking a 12 string guitar reasonably well. Also gives you those tones at a octave below regular tone for some nice low end if you need it. It's like a little tool box for your guitar, great tones and LOTS of bang for your buck!!

One of Boss' latest additions to their ever-impressive line, the MO-2 provides super-clean, super-clear overtones that offer a new dimension of sound possibilities. The quality alterations of its output are so impressive that it moves guitarists closer to a place that previously occupied only by keyboard players. I use the MO-2 with the SD-1 Super OverDrive and the OC-3 Super Octave between a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Mustang I amp. The Mustang can simulate all kinds of things, but I find the best sound when setting my amp to the cleanest, unmodified sound I can, and use the pedals as much as possible. My suggestion before purchasing the MO-2 is to listen to the videos on YouTube first, especially the one published by rolandmedia. The demos I've seen are very ... This particular BOSS Pedal had a specific F/X I wanted and it came through like a champ with great tone.AND the M.F. Advisor who helped me choose this pedal was excellent also. HOWEVER, One of my pet peeves is when I pay for new I expect factory fresh new! Instead, I got a repackaged return or a refurbished item. My pedal was a return or a refurbished item because M.F. forgot to take out the 9V battery. It was carefully repackaged to "LOOK" new but with the battery in there I knew it wasn't. SO, BEWARE!!
This pedal works well with bass and guitar. Tracks well. But being a Boss pedal, it needs some mods.I compressed the spring on the foot paddle, which was way too stiff. The good old Boss bypass sucks tone as always, so it's getting a relay-based true bypass upgrade. And a new button switch to replace the stock switch to give the pedal a more positive feel when you turn it on and off.I wouldn't do these mods if the pedal didn't sound good and wasn't useful. I decided to do the bypass mod rather than use a bypass looper box to save space and cable runs on the board.I wish Boss would get their act together and upgrade the bypass circuitry to eliminate the tone sucking.I buy Boss pedals knowing that they'll need mods just to meet basic minimum requirements. The Boss MO-2 is an awesome pedal. It's similar to an octave pedal, but different. It's like there are more overtones coming through sometimes, other than just octaves. It's function is somewhat limited to that type of effect, but it does exactly what it's supposed to do. Like all Boss pedals, it's built like a tank. No complaints!
The Boss MO2 Multi-Overtone pedal is a high quality and great sounding product worthy of musicians seeking to add organ-like and ambient overtone textures to their music. For several years, I've relied on the Electro Harmonix Micro POG to add a variety of overtone and octave sounds to my sonic palette. I am still very satisfied with the POG, but was intrigued by some of the extras that Boss offers with this pedal. Namely, Boss has highly promoted their new MDP (multi-dimensional processing) technology, boasting greater clarity and precision in tone. In testing this pedal, I can attest that there is, in fact, a noticeable clarity in sound and tone. In testing this pedal, I can attest that there is, in fact, a noticeable clarity in sound and tone. I was also intrigued by the stereo outputs on the Boss MO2 and the possibility of creating fuller and more lush sounds. I was not disappointed by the MO2 performance in this area. The POG also has dual outputs ('dry' and 'effect'), but the effect itself is not designed around a stereo image. The MO2 offers three modes of overtones. Each is distinct and useful, going from thinner treble to more deeper and resonant bass overtones. These modes can be further tweaked with a dedicated 'Tone' control, in addition to a spacey and intriguing "Detune" control. The bottom line is that the MO2 and the POG do very similar things, but the Boss pedal, in my opinion, has more versatility, and, by virtue of more control options, achieves more precision sound. I would like to see stereo inputs on the MO2 in the future . As it stands, the MO2 has a mono input, which limits where it can be placed in a pedal board chain with other stereo effects. Of course, the EH POG also has a mono input. I've had no trouble with the POG over the years, but the MO2 just feels more solid. In all, if you may think that Boss's MDP processing is just a gimmick, think again. It's innovative and lives up to its hype.
This is the best addition I have ever made to my acoustic guitar rig. The pedal makes tones easier to hear with out turning up the volume. I use an Ebow with this to get an awesome flute sound. I also have the new tera echo and adaptive distortion and together they are killer! I played for 3 hours last nite playing with the differant sounds, you can add just a little and get a shimmering acoustic sound or add alot of blend and sound like a hammond B3 or fender rhoads. It sounds better than any guitar synth I have ever used.Distortion sounds are hard to get right on an acoustic but these pedals make it sound sooo sweeet.I also use a wah wah, boss dynamic-wah w/expression pedal, boss digital delay, boss GE-7 eq, boss chorus, boss looper, pz pre tone bone, fishman DI ...
