An immense sounding, feature packed device. This looper will improve your workflow and creativity from day one. I have been using it with my synths, bass guitar and acoustic guitar to make a variety of different genres of music, from synth-pop to classical. I’m experimenting with vocals, something I have never tried before and even for someone with no vocal training at all you can use the fx on the MKII to add depth and presence to your voice. The creative possibilities are endless and exploring them is so much fun. I highly recommend the MKII for anyone interested in music production or live performing.

Easy to use looper with lots of features!

Paired with the Boss foot switch this looper is easy to use and has some incredible features. You can loop and overdub easily on each of the 5 channels. Each channel can loop different measures. Im just getting to know the unit but so far the looping sounds seamless!

Fantastic flexible fun and functional.

What an amazing piece of kit. It helps me make music the way I want to. I’ve tried using software on a PC for years and this is so much easier and great fun too. You can start looping and playing along within minutes of getting it out of the box.The loops can be as long as you like. You can overdub as much as you like. The five tracks that are controlled independently are just right for performing most pieces with any kind of verse - chorus structure. The memory on this thing is huge. Connectivity to my laptop by USB and to my old Korg M1 by MIDI has been faultless. Everything works they way you expect it to.The built-in rhythm section is useful and flexible. There’s tap tempo and numerical control. I’ve been able to record a long loop, overdub a few times, add ... MoreWhat an amazing piece of kit. It helps me make music the way I want to. There’s tap tempo and numerical control. I’ve been able to record a long loop, overdub a few times, add shorter loops alongside, add effects, undo, redo and control an external sequencer on the first time of use.The coloured lights telling you which tracks are playing and which are recording take a bit of getting used to and a clock showing bar numbers would be helpful but I connected my old drum machine and used the bar counter on that. The rc 505 mk2 sounds great. The playback is identical to the input - if you want it to be. The onboard effects sound great and there are so many that you could spend months exploring them. There are more than enough and having them assigned to each track input or output independently is helpful and flexible. The menu takes some getting used to but so does any, and some of the menu control buttons are hard to see being black on a black background but that’s a small quibble.I would have liked four or five instrument inputs - one for each track would be useful - but it’s not a deal breaker either.Having faders as well as on/off buttons is useful. There are sufficient time signature and tempo parameters. In short, I’ve been able to do everything I want and more and will be learning and improving for months and years. There are loads of youtube videos to help and to give you ideas what you can do with this, so if you’re considering one of these, get one.

This thing is a beast. It has the five channels to loop on but it also lets you dub over those channels so it's really just endless. Instructions came with it... READ THEM! They are like a Bible of info and will get you looping in no time. Very happy about this purchase.

This is a very interesting little box. I've been mostly using kaoss pads (a kp3 + a couple of kpros) along with 303-type devices to do #dawless live techno sets and the 505 is leaps and bounds ahead of the kaoss pads (being a decade newer ofc).Obviously you don't have the xy pad which loses one of the main touchy-feely appealing elements of the pad but I use the 505 in conjunction with the pads rather than instead of, and whilst they overlap, they kinda also do different things. It may only seem like a small detail but one of the main things I like with the 505 over the pads is that in order to clear, save or load a sample on the kaoss pads, the whole machine is locked up (no sound) for anything up to 20~sec, which is not great if you're trying to do live ... MoreThis is a very interesting little box. You can sorta "cover" for whichever one is loading if you have several pads and other stuff going on but with just the one you'd be stuffed. The 505 lets you load, save memories, record and clear samples without stopping the beat and *somehow* it seems to magically figure out the timing too which is great for maintaining "flow" and makes the creation process pretty seamless. The kaoss pads also both handle (midi) time in weird and different ways. The kp3 lets you set a downbeat but is then always orbiting on that cycle, and the kpro starts the clock whenever you start recording or playing a sample...both approaches are kinda weird and not that great. Also neither type of pad send a midi play/stop signal so you can't actually use them as a clock master on some types of device. A td3 (as midi slave) still lets you manually trigger start stop even with a clock present, but the FR-777 won't play unless it gets a play/stop by midi when it's a slave, so no dice. Tbh I haven't quite figured out how the 505 does what it does with the timing but it seems to work very well and it works great as a clock master too.Having up to 4 stackable effects (4 on incoming and 4 on outgoing) is fantastic and gives real nice scope for mashing up sounds and I love having the hardware sliders for the levels. You can do channel sliders on the pads but you have to go to a shift menu to do so, which on the kp3 also disables the current fx (not great), so once again the 505 is a big improvement there. The way the memories work also seems like it would be very suitable for live sets. When you switch to a memory, instantly you have all the samples/tracks and effects to hand just as you left them. None of this "trying to get back to a vibe" thing like you usually have with older hardware - boom there it all is ready to roll.Overall - Love it :DLD50 Techno / @LD50303
