This pedal emulates the classic Roland Space Echo and its intricacies very well. You will require an additional footswitch to active the Warp/Twist functions, but for a compact standalone unit it captures the tape echo/spring reverb/tape saturation/warmth of the Roland RE-201 very well. Pink Floyd in a box!

I tried this pedal out, but it does not sound very well with my current solid-state setup. Would probably sound best paired with a vintage tube amp. The variations in the types of delays are also quite subtle and take a trained ear to hear it. Shoegazers paradise! I am going to return this pedal, as it is not the delay sound that I am used to, and its not something that sounds too pleasant to my ears. The pedal is touch responsive too, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you play. For my play style, it's a negative effect to my sound. I would recommend this pedal though, Its a different style of delay that some might like

This pedal sounds great. I have a DOD Ruberneck delay through the amps effects loop and I added this as the first pedal in that chain. You can get some really cool sounds using it with another delay pedal
I caveat this with the fact I am a delay enthusiast and have owned many of the competing pedals but the RE2 just didn't live upto the hype. Sound is good but its not amazing when stood up with a Catalinbread Belle epoch or strymon el capistan or indeed other boss delays. It has the character but for the spend you could do better if you arent bothered about not having the boss space echo branding.
Only tested it with my EVH 5150 lll running it up front but delivered that early VH tones. Still have to experiment with low gain and cleans yet.
I have other Boss pedals... Including a digital delay, reverb and Tera Echo. This is a great pedal that allows a wide variety of sounds. You can experiment and combine with effects from an amp and/or other pedals. I use an acoustic guitar with it and it's amazing. Love it.
I'll never forget the first time I plugged my electric guitar into a Watkins Copycat tape echo machine in a music shop in Stockport when I was a teenager. Pure bliss. A few years later I bought one, but found managing the tapes to be a drag. The Boss RE-2 does everything I miss from my copycat PLUS it has a subtle reverb. Brilliantly engineered, this pedal is utterly brilliant. I've been using Boss pedals since 1985 and this is the best yet!
