Here we go again, another fine Boss product. While most small PA systems have reverb, some still do not and this is a great solution. I'm currently using a Roland CM-30 for guitar and vocals to play in restaurants. This adds reverb to the vocals. The word echo in the product title seems to be slightly misleading. It's more like a reverb unit. Don't expect to get true echo from this unit, although the reverbs are pretty spectacular! There is a gain control to adjust input signal. It has an LED indicator; green means it's getting a signal, yellow - optimum signal, red - clipping (a soft, audible distortion). Enhance feature is similar to an aural exciter. I set the Tone control so that the indicator on the knob points to the "E" in the word Tone. This sounds the most natural for my application (Shure SM-57). All the presets are very usable and the signal is very clean and clear. I've received compliments by non musicians who've heard me over the years, telling me I just got better! I will not be getting a power supply because batteries last a long time 4xAA). This unit completely improves my small club performances! I have no need for the pitch correction feature unless I want the robot voice. This is far beyond the reverb effect in your portable PA or amps with built in reverb.
I wanted an effects unit with good vocal doubling feaures so that I'd not have to actually double-track and then bounce the two tracks to one to make room on my 8-track. To be honest, this BOSS unit was not my first choice. I was trying to get ahold of either TC Helicon or a TC-Electonix unit - both of which turned out to be discontinued and unavailable. But BOSS has always been a solid choice for most effects, so I went with this VE-1. It dod not disappoint. It's easy to use, has some excellent reverb options, and the doubling really thickens my vocals. So far, I've used it for one song and it sounds great. Can't wait to put it to use more in the near future.
Used for solo male vocals. Adds a perfect amount of warmth and space which has a nice range of adjustability. The Enhance feature helps a bit too, especially if you’re not always right on top of the mic. The doubler doesn’t fit my style so I don’t use it. As for the pitch-correct, to my ears it doesn’t sound much different than the doubler … even on a very light setting. Seems more like it’s trying to mask off pitch notes rather than correct them. May take some more time to play with.
Has all the features you could want with none of the ones you don’t. Bought this for grown up son and I’ve had various vocal effects from basic to the highest end rack units and you will be happy with this one if budget is a issue

To this day I have been searching for the perfect petal to give me reverb and/or Delay that has great qualities. I dried out a couple of other effect pedals - I am not a fan of the multi affect cuddles. I just need a few basic things for those venues that don't have any kind of affects for their vocalists. I personally rely on reverb (some say we're kinda Deftones-esque in regards to effects), and this puddle has blown my mind. It's beautiful, the reverb is beautiful and it's exactly what I needed. The decay sounds beautiful and it doesn't sound too digital. I don't use the correction personally, but it wouldn't ... Fantastic vocal processer pedal that is simple with easy controls and sounds great.
Very disappointed. Made my shure beta 58 sound cheap, hard to get good fx quickly, and it arrived with no electric adaptor, was not told I needed to buy one separately. An instruction sheet in about 8 languages that you can hardly read, the type is so small. Am sending it back.
