Have you always dreamed about going wireless with your instrument, but were put off by the complicated setup, tone loss, and bulky adds-ons? If so, the WL-20 series is for you! Driven by new lightning-fast BOSS tech, these ultra-compact music tools deliver premium sound and plug-and-play operation that completely eliminates all the hassles normally associated with wireless systems. Once you experience the easy wireless independence provided by the WL-20 series, you’ll never go back to using a standard cable again! With no worries about cable management, you’re able to move about freely while playing at home, jamming with friends, and performing on stage. During sound check at a gig, you can listen to your tone out front and dial in the best sound for your audience. And with the ability to roam and interact with other musicians, your live shows will be more dynamic and entertaining than ever. The WL-20L model is functionally identical to the WL-20, with the exception that it eliminates cable tone simulation. This makes it the best choice for instruments where cable capacitance has little or no effect on the tone, such as an acoustic/electric guitar with an onboard preamp, a guitar or bass with active pickups, or a line-level device like a keytar or Roland’s Aerophone digital wind instrument. The WL-20L also works great with passive pickups if you don’t need the subtle treble roll-off provided by cable tone simulation.

Really sadly, I cannot recommend this Boss item. I usually would but they have dropped the ball here. The simple give away for me was when I used it on acoustic guitar through a high quality PA. The degradation of sound quality was very pronounced upon A/B with cable. Clarity of tone & bottom end are lost.2nd issue was drop outs & intermittent signal was profound. Tested in different venues, rehearsal situations…Final out come - this is a sub-par product. Cheaper ones on the market are better than this which is quite a shock.

I received my WL20L yesterday and let it charge overnight. Plugged it up this morning, and WOW!! This is an amazing product. Crystal clear, no humming, and easy, easy, easy to use. I tried it on my Takamine 12 string, my Taylor 714ce, my Gibson Dove, and it even sounded great on my Fender Jaguar. The only hiccup I ran into is that it makes a clicking sound when I plugged up my Epiphone Les Paul Ultra III. It did fine when using the electric pickups, but when I switch over to the Nanomag, it sounds like a clock ticking. Not big deal to me because the most important thing to me was that it works on the Taylor flawlessly. Buy it because I do not see how you could possibly be disappointed. Long term quality? Overall:The Boss WL-20L works great. Especially with small systems where no ac is available like outdoor weddings, parties, just plug in the black transmitter and the gray receiver into the mixer/amp like a Bose S1Pro and your all set. I primarily use this on nylon string flamenco guitars with a LR Baggs Dual Source (Element & Mic) or Lr Baggs Lyric Classical. I've used the WL-20L into a Lr Baggs Venue DI, Bugera AC60 all with great results. There can be at times a high frequency ring at 17/18k. The ease of use, no batteries, cables and easy sync make it a easy to gig solution. It's also a very small footprint. Can easy fit in a guitar case accessory pocket.

I have tried this wireless system in two of my guitars. The first works amazingly well with this system and I have no complaints. However, the second guitar has a style of input jack which does not trigger the button to turn on the transmitter. Testing this with a couple of other guitars had the same result. It appears this only works on jacks which let the end go particularly deep inside.
This neat little Wireless System sounds fantastic and is very easy to setup and use. The only downside It really has is it using the 2.4GHz band. For me, getting interruptions, at least occasionally, is inevitable with it. So, you can't really expect to get perfection in a crowded 2.4GHz environment. Intermittent cracks and pops will happen.
NO BATTERY REPLACEMENT The unit itself is OK and a convenient size however, after contacting Boss a few times they finally admitted the batteries are NOT replaceable and don't know the battery life would be they emailed me back and said I quote: "The WL-20 Manufacturer Warranty is for 1 Year Parts 90 Days Labor. If you have an issue with the WL-20 Battery within Manufacturer Warranty Terms then it can be serviced/replaced by our Roland Boss Factory Service Department. In my internet research I found this information again I quote: "The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first. One charge cycle is a period of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged again." Also I quote: "If the voltage of a lithium-ion cell drops below a certain level, it's ruined. Lithium-ion batteries age. They only last two to three years, even if they are sitting on a shelf unused. So do not "avoid using" the battery with the thought that the battery pack will last five years". This means when the WL-20 won't hold a charge anymore after the warranty period you have buy a new one. These are one shot devices and I am disappointed at this. I might try to return it and continue to use my current wireless. With replaceable batteries. Verified purchase: No
There are many of these systems out there. Most of them cost less than this one. But if you want to get a wireless connection that actually works without drop outs, whilst maintaining great sound quality, it is worth spending a little more money. It worked straight out of the box. You can carry it in your pocket. One of my better impulse purchases.
Works perfectly. Fast, easy connectivity, no errant noise, really low latency - cannot tell at all and I’m very sensitive to that kind of thing - and decent battery life that hasn’t let me down at all. All in all, definitely worth the extra over cheaper models on the usual online marketplaces.
Product works as advertised. Nice build quality and reliable operation. Simple to use and both the receiver and transmitter can be charged together with only one usb cable.Tried the WL-20 up to a distance of 10 m with 2 walls in between and no loss of signal was experienced. Using an electric guitar and no latency was noticeable.Music store service: ordered on Wednesday and delivered in Belgium on Friday. Nice work, as usual.
This product is really great! I am so amazed about the convenience of going wireless & not having to worry about stepping accidentally on your cable. You dont need to wear anything else but the guitar/bass & youre free to move around hassle-free just like a true showman! The battery would last more than your fingers & back can handle the entire show. Charge it using your Android USB charger. Dont worry about lithium ion batteries not working in the long run after years of use. After all, if you can change your cellphone to almost any model that comes in a year or two which costs more, you can always change this to a new one at a lesser cost relative to your favorite cellphone. No noticeable latencies in 30 feet. Why would you wander off 30 feet from the receiver ... MoreThis product is really great!
