The level of detail delivered is where the difference between the PX8's and my previous earphones was most noticeable. The noise cancelling feature is an added bonus and it also has a few different settings so you can personalise to your environment/ personal preference. This can be through the associated App - which is simple to use and also enables to to vary sound to suit your needs. In terms of controls - the headphones have physical buttons around the edge of the earcups. These help with volume control, track selection and call accept/ decline, and are both easy to locate and easy to use. Some of these can also be controlled through the app too.In terms of appearance - the PX8's look and feel amazing. They are extremely comfortable to wear and not particularly heavy (they felt lighter than some others I tried). The size of them (typical of headphones) may not mean they are to everyone's preference for gym workouts (I still use my earphones for this), but that aside, there is very little to be critical on.

All the controls buttons and charging port for the headphones are positioned on the right hand side of the headphones and N/C on the left, my only issue is you can accidentally press the buttons by mistake.Listening to various music genre from internet, downloaded CDs, radios etc I can't fault the sound quality, the vocals and every instrument can be heard with a very rounded sound compared to my other premium headphones, you can alter the base and treble if you need to on the B&W App, it's everyone's personal preference. The N/C in my opinion is equal to my other premium headphones but I am sure some may disagree. The majority of my listening is in the house and its the quality of sound what is more important to me. Answering and making phone calls using the headphones are very clear with no issues.Would I recommend the Bowers & Wilkins headphones, definitely if you have the money to spare the sound quality is one of the best I've heard, and match the quality of manufacturing, with quick charging these would take some beating and the burgundy colour gives them even more of class act.

Having read numerous reviews & watched many You Tube videos relating to these headphones, they all refer to the fact like most high end HiFi require extensive running in. I can concur that this is also the case with the PX8. Approximately 60hrs in my opinion before they really shine. So be patient & you will be rewarded with a rich, detailed soundstage presentation with a definite B&W fingerprint. So if you're a fan of B&W & the sound their products produce (warm, rich & detailed) you'll love these. The build quality & the materials are exceptional. The use of fine nappa leather on the ear cups & the headband exudes luxury making them super ... MoreI purchased these B&W PX8 wireless headphones some months ago now before reviewing them. There's a reason for this? (They work all over my 3 bed semi)The storage case is a zipped material semi ridged clamshell affair with a cable storage compartment. There's a USB charging cable plus a (in my opinion) shortish headphone cable, allowing direct cable use, but tbh I bought the PX8's to use wirelessly.Noise cancellation is pretty good,I haven't used the phone facility, so no comment but you can accept, hang up, increase the volume etc all from the right earpiece. The one thing that does cause frustration is the B&W App, it could be way, way better, it's not rocket science! The reason I bought these over my other shortlist option the Focal Bathys was basically down to money! JLP had the B&W PX8's at a fantastic price (including a part ex promo of £40) leaving the Focals looking very expensive.I run the PX8's through my Naim Hifi via a Bluetooth TX/RX unit & even though the slightly degrades the sound it remains amazing. So basically I fully recommend the B&W PX8's

Exceptional audio and fit

I want to recognise from the outset the B&W Px8 as superb over-the-ear headphones. On opening the box and case, you can immediately tell the quality of materials and product design are in the ultra-premium category - built with Nappa leather, aluminium and a fit that I found really comfortable. My existing over the ear headphones are a well-reviewed set of gaming headphones, but it took me a few hours to recalibrate my ears to what the Px8 deliver - warm mid-tones, rich bass (that you can adjust in the "Music | Bowers & Wilkins" app) and real audio clarity, especially at higher volumes. I enjoy dance and drum & bass music and even though I own B&W MM-1 speakers, I found myself discovering new audio details in my favourite tracks by Pendulum and Calvin Harris - a credit to their ability. I did have to be mindful of getting carried away by turning the volume up too loud for too long though, and in contrast to some professional reviews, I didn't have any issue with the audio quality at lower volumes - it was still brilliant. These are the first headphones or earphones that I've had with active noise cancellation too, and found myself using this feature on public transport, especially the London Underground. It's not flawless, but it does make a huge difference if you want some insulation from external hubbub. In practise though I did find myself using the passthrough setting when walking overground, so that I could hear traffic better. There are a couple of niggles that I came across - my ears did get uncomfortably warm when wearing for an extended period or after exercising; maybe these would benefit from more breathable padding even if some of the ANC capability was reduced. I didn't find the app particularly useful beyond initial configuration, and as other reviewers have commented, the buttons to control volume and power are a bit clustered to intuitively click - maybe a volume wheel would be more user-friendly?But overall, these are still exceptional headphones.

The app required much experimentation and in addition to the manual, should be redesigned so all controls including the Quick Action Button can be accessed from one screen. Once the app is operational on your phone or tablet, you must experiment to optimise the headphones. The buttons on the right earpiece are small. The indicator light is hard to interpret in strong light. The app should display a clear mimic of the Status Indicator. The diagrams and text in the manual covering the controls, are unclear and the font too small when printed (A4). These need rewriting to contain clear descriptions with diagrams for the roles of each button. The Quick Action Button modes cycle:- "noise cancelling," "pass through" and "standard," mimicked in the app. Different paired sources are selected via the app. The headphones are wonderfully comfortable and reproduction of audiobooks and music is distinct and effortless to listen to. The quality of the sound depends upon the sophistication of rendering by the input devices. Noise cancellation provides rewarding relaxation to me (as a wearer of hearing aids) by rejecting intrusive external noises which spoil enjoyment of media generally. Otherwise, I must pause to evaluate the context again before resuming. There has been no conflict of sounds (e.g. echoes) or feedback and volume levels are safely controlled at source."

These headphones are amazing! I can be sat next to my husband listening to fairly loud music and he can't hear anything at all, so they're perfect to use when commuting or on public transport. You can turn noise cancelling off or set it to 'pass through' meaning that you can still hear conversations or announcements....again, great for commuting. The sound quality and clarity is also extremely impressive and much better than any other headphones that I've ever tried. I've found them to be great quality for different genres of music as well as for taking calls and dialling into meetings. I use them for everything. The battery charge seems more than adequate, I can use them solidly at work for a couple of days or on and off for a couple of weeks without needing to charge them, and they can be used while charging. The controls are on the sides of the ear cups and are easy to find and press when you're wearing them. Within the app you can turn on a sensor so music stops when you lift up or remove the ear cups, when taken off they also click into low power mode which helps battery life. Although there are only 5 buttons on the cups you can alter volume, play, pause, go to the next or previous track, answer, end and decline calls and merge or switch between calls.Overall, I didn't realise headphones could be this good, they really are very impressive

Straight out of the box, the high quality of these Px8 Noise Cancelling headphones from Bowers & Wilkins is apparent. I have the burgundy colourway and they really are beautiful. The build quality is superb, from the softest fine nappa leather trim to the cast aluminium arms. These are the most comfortable over ear headphones I've ever worn, the headband is well shaped and the earcups are well designed. I can wear these headphones for extended periods of time due to their high level of comfort. The weight is slightly higher at about 60g more than my previous headphones but it's not that noticeable in wearing and add to the feeling of a quality build. The sound clarity is excellent and the noise cancelling is exceptional, I can't hear the treadmill at all when using ... MoreStraight out of the box, the high quality of these Px8 Noise Cancelling headphones from Bowers & Wilkins is apparent. On the passthrough setting they cleverly let through what you need to hear whilst filtering out ambient noise allowing you to enjoy music/podcasts safely when in busy areas. Call quality is excellent as well as the music playback which is outstanding. The controls are predominantly on the right earcup and are intuitive and simple to use. Downloading the Bowers & Wilkins app is a must, from here you can adjust bass and treble settings along with wear sensitivity-these head phones will automatically turn off and on and you take them off and put them back on.Battery life is excellent, you can expect to get up to 30 hours use before needing to charge these again, connectivity is easy and secure. What more can I say? The best headphones you can buy!

Top of it's class!!

Wow! I am going to start gushing now.Upon opening the box and touching the soft yet sturdy textile case inside, one knows instantly, you have a quality product. Bowers & Wilkins are born of a British background, which exudes class. These pair of Px8 noise-cancelling wireless headphones are not only stylish, they feel good with their tasteful brushed matte gold arms against the Nappa leather Royal Burgundy earpads and are bliss for listening to music. I have an eclectic taste in tunes and tried everything from classical to reggae with dub techno and heavy rock in between to give these headphones a run for their money. I cannot lie, it was pure joy and found myself listening to my music comfortably for several hours. The earpads did not hurt as other less expensive ... MoreWow! I cannot lie, it was pure joy and found myself listening to my music comfortably for several hours. The earpads did not hurt as other less expensive ones have in the past for me. The acoustics was already set up which was brilliant, but I tweaked the Treble and Bass after downloading the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, which made it crisper. I have to confess these are the best headphones I have ever had the pleasure to own. The noise-cancelling feature works like a dream. You can decide how much environmental noise you want to hear by pressing the button on the left ear cup.The frequency of the headphones are exceptional. My mobile phone has been downstairs and I have been pottering around the house and garden without losing clarity or connection with the music played. To charge your headphones is quick, you use your laptop and cable supplied inside the case.Whilst making a receiving a call the reception is crystal clear. However, the headphones do not announce either the number or caller, whether stored in contacts or not, whereas other headphones I have had, do. To end the call is quite simple, everything is basically controlled by one main button on the right ear cup, for accepting or declining a call.I absolutely adore these headphones and use them more than I have, any other brand.

Very impressive sound and comfort

I think these are fantastic looking headphones! The case they come in is not bulky, making it easy to take them anywhere and avoid any damage to them. As soon as you put them on, the leather makes you realise how premium they are as it is soft and makes them really comfortable to wear; along with them being easily adjustable to fit over your head and fit snuggly.I did find it a little tricky to get them to connect to my phone and the app on the first try (this was also the case when connecting to my partners phone) however I figured it out reasonably quickly and haven't had any issues connecting since. Once connected, the app is very simple to use. My only disappointment with it is that Spotify isn't supported, and as that's the streaming service I use I can't use ... MoreI think these are fantastic looking headphones! The ANC is very effective and the pass-through mode works well, especially when on a call. I have taken a few calls on them and according to the other person, the microphone is excellent quality!I have tried my partners ANC headphones, which cost just under half the price of these and whilst the sound quality is good on them, the ability to make a call is definitely incomparable and the comfort on the B&W ones is far superior.Overall I am impressed with these headphones and I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for premium quality in comfort and sound.

[Rewarded Review] The very best headphones for listening to music
28 November 2023

Bowers & Wilkins is a renowned company among audiophiles that built its reputation on making excellent loudspeakers, so when I saw it made high end headphones I was excited to listen to my music in the best way possible. These PX8 Over-Ear Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones in the exquisite Royal Burgundy color have been a true delight to use and have shown me what I have been missing all these years listening to my music just through the wired earbuds included with one of my old iPhones. The first thing that struck me was the stunning Royal Burgundy finish – a perfect blend of sophistication and style. I have not seen this color on competitors’ headphones when I observe people at the gym (where so many people wear headphones these days) so this color really stands out. The headphones exude a premium feel, with a combination of high-quality leather and impeccable craftsmanship. The ear cups are plush and comfortable, providing an immersive listening experience without causing fatigue during extended use. However, one drawback is that the earpads are not removable. So, it remains to be seen how well they hold up with years of use.Bowers & Wilkins have truly outdone themselves in the audio department. The PX8 headphones deliver a rich, detailed sound with a well-balanced audio profile. The bass is deep and resonant, mids are clear, and the highs are crisp without being harsh. Whether you're into classical, pop, or bass-heavy EDM, these headphones handle every genre with finesse. The noise-canceling technology is impressive, immersing you in your music by effectively blocking out ambient noise without compromising audio quality. However, I would not say it is best in class in this department. I have used my friend’s Apple Airpods Max before and I would say those are slightly better. Those were near perfect in cancelling out noise, a 10/10. I would say these are more of an 8.5 rating. The wireless connectivity of the PX8 is seamless, providing a stable and reliable connection. Bluetooth pairing is quick and hassle-free, and I experienced no noticeable latency while watching videos or playing games. I felt like I was on the soundstage with the musical artist when I was listening to music on these headphones! When I was playing Call of Duty on my PC these headphones were able to give such an immersive soundfield that I heard all the subtle sounds and was also able to know exactly where the sound from the other players was coming from, which gave me an edge when playing. The battery life is commendable, easily offering hours of uninterrupted playback on a single charge. The product is rated for 30 hours of playback on a single charge, and I found that to be accurate. The inclusion of a USB-C port for charging adds to the convenience. There is also a wired adapter cable included so you can have a wired connection if you are using an older device without Bluetooth.I liked the fact there are still physical buttons to control all the main functions. In the past I have tried headphones that have no physical buttons and rely completely on gestures which actually made things more confusing having to remember all the gestures. The inclusion of smart sensors that pause playback when you take the headphones off and resume when you put them back on adds a thoughtful touch to the user experience. The smartphone app helps with connectivity, treble and bass adjustment, firmware updates, and in general is very easy to use.In the realm of premium over-ear headphones, the Bowers & Wilkins PX8 stands out as a true masterpiece. With a perfect blend of style, comfort, and unparalleled audio quality, these headphones offer a luxurious listening experience. If you want the absolute best headphones to listen to your music, then these are the way to go.
