Bought my S9 Sport from Costco a few months back. Less than six months after I started using it, the shaving head wear indicator is already at one bar. There's NO way this head is going to last for 18 months. To top it off, my old Philips Norelco did a better job at providing me with a quick, close cut - and at half the cost. And after reading the other reviews, it appears that I'm not the only one who's having issues with this piece of "fine German engineering." I'm seriously thinking of returning it to Costco.

For such an expensive shaver, the quality sure has tanked recently. The head which came with my shaver lasted about 18 months before the foil ruptured. Fortunately, I had bought a spare, and that seemed perfectly reasonable. However, the spare, which I've had for just under a year, just ruptured in exactly the same way, and I didn't figure it out until it had chewed up my neck. It was $50 then, and is $70 now. By all reports, I can expect the new, more expensive replacement to last even less time. Given that I can get a completely new (other brand, obvs) shaver for only a little more than the *head* for this thing, it seems like an obvious choice. It's a pity, I used to consider Braun to be a top-of-the-line brand, but that's clearly slipping. The "loss-leader ... MoreFor such an expensive shaver, the quality sure has tanked recently. For the second time in less than 5 months the shaver head foil broke loose. Unlike the first time , I decided to investigate the cause of the issue. Clearly there are missing pins ( ...plastic!) over the failed foil frame . Strange: the head shaver that came with the original shaver lasted about 2 years! The last two ones purchased in May & Sept. 2023 failed prematurely and disgracefully. I intend to change shaver since that I have not received any response from Braun-USA for a week or so. Needless to say: cheap material!

Performance and durability. I see lots of bad reviews but here's the deal I think. The 9 series has one the of the most powerful motors on a razor. The heads are like anything else new always will out last used like a new car you never get the same mileage out of the second set of tires or brakes because thing get worn move around more. The foils I use get cleaned every use I do my head and face with it from 2 to 4 times a week and I also have had foils pull my hair but I just hold the head in hot water and shake it that seems to help the blades clean up the edges and perform better. But I still get a year out of them I've put 4 or 5 heads on this 9 series and had it same amount of years. Before this shaver I burned thru 3 others. So speaking for myself I'd buy it ... MorePerformance and durability. I see lots of bad reviews but here's the deal I think. The 9 series has one the of the most powerful motors on a razor. I don't know how so many other reviewers have had consistent difficulty with the longevity of the Braun replacement shaver heads. It has to be "operator error." (I'm SURE that the Braun rep can't say that publicly, so I'M saying it!!) Properly cleaned ... in my charging station WITH FLUID ... my heads have lasted IN EXCESS OF TWO YEARS EACH. In fact, I swap them out -- not for lack of sharpness -- but ONLY because I feel that I have to according to the instructions!! LOL! Keep up the good work, Braun.
I expected better from Braun. I have had nothing but issues with the replacement shaving head. Can I give negative ten stars? I purchased another replacement head on April 3rd of this year. It has already worn out. I have just purchased another razer, and it is not a Braun. I'll post a video of a shotgun blasting the whole thing to Brazillian pieces. The prior razer head probably was purchased on Jul 28, 2022. I had another Bruan razer and it worked forever and the shaving heads lasted about two years. I do not have a heavy beard. Class action lawsuit anyone? Piece of junk. Spent $200 plus on a Braun. Braun used to be a good company. Signed Disgruntled former Braun Customer
wow - forgot how good this razor was when new.Not realising that you could get replacement heads I had put up with my original head with broken bits that caused me to have a rash, so I had returned to a manual razor. My wife bought this replacement head and I am again loving using an electric shaver. Only regret is not having done this much earlier.
I used the Series 7 for years. Had one for home and kept another in my bag since I traveled every week. Bought the 9 and have been very disappointed. The cleaner did not work out of the package. Braun did fix it, but was inconvenient. The shave quality compared to the 7 is a big step down. I have bought two replacement blades hoping the new one would be better. Not!! Isn't that the definition of something? Almost ordered one more replacement, but after reading all the other reviews that are negative, I think I'll have to pass. A lot of money for a paperweight.
I have been a loyal Braun customer/user for over twenty years. I have had every series of Braun shaver and buy the newest one each time. I have used a Series 9 shaver since they came out and have replaced four shaver heads in the past 2 years! The last two heads only lasted 2 to 3 months and I do not have a heavy beard. I called Braun customer service and told them I kept the last two failed shaver heads and packaging since I knew they would fail....which they did. The service rep, Amy told me to return my shaver to a Service Center in Nebraska, which I did. The Service Center cleaned and oiled the shaver and said there was nothing wrong with the shaver, but still cost me over $60. I had read many comments on review sites that there were MANY problems with these foil and cutter heads breaking apart and told Amy I would send her back the last two that failed. I asked her to replace them and she would not do that. Said she thought it was my shaver that needed repair. Obviously it was not. I was going to order ANOTHER head but they are expensive at $50 each. I went back to razor shaving while my Braun was being "repaired" and am thinking of doing that instead of replacing defective heads every couple of months and spending as some have calculated .50 to .75 per day to shave! I love Braun but after "decades" of use and lack of response from their "support" center and unwillingness to replace defective products, I will probably keep using a razor. Very sad....Also I am going to copy the service and executive team at Proctor and Gamble as to my poor customer service experience.
I purchased my Braun Electric Shaver, Series 9 9290 cc in September 2017. My experience with the shaver heads is they last an average of 3.5 months before they begin to break up and fall to pieces. Meaning that one section of the head literally separates and falls to the floor and cannot be reinstalled. Sometimes after one breaks off another one will soon separate as well rendering the shaver unusable. While I can use it carefully with one piece out for a while, its iffy if it will last until a replacement comes in the post. I am now purchasing my 5th head. I have yet to have one last long enough to wear out. As the costs are high and replacement heads are needed too frequently this is the most exorbitantly expensive shaver I have ever purchased. My previous Braun razors was great. I have no complaints about them. I should go back to my last one as it continues to perform well and is predictable. This performance is unacceptable and I am a dissatisfied customer. The initial purchase price is high but I was OK with that. The razor is not a good value for the initial expense at any price considering the frequent maintenance and replacement heads needed. The first time I figured it was just a one-off. Then again, and now again this is a pattern, not a one-off. As a result, never again will I purchase a Braun.
