Braun has the BEST electric shavers as far as my husband is concerned. He won't buy any other, but they are so expensive! The replacement cleaning cartridges and screen/cutter replacements are budget killers, and I cringe when the screen develops a hole. They are completely unusable when it happens so I have to quickly find a new one. Another issue... trying to figure out which screen to buy and making sure not to buy the knockoffs that are all over the internet. I fell for that one thinking I could save money, and ended up VERY angry when I got some cheesy unmarked box with a complete joke product inside. My bad. Won't happen again.

I cannot really rate the new cutter/head until I have had a chance to use it or at least a few months.I have used Braun shavers for more than 50 years. I have used no others, other than a Remington, very many years ago. For mechanical operation the Braun shaver cannot be faulted in any way whatsoever. It is perfection. I have never had a single day of problem in all those years. However, for actual shaving, the quality of beard clearance has progressively declined. Once I could guarantee 12 months out of a cutter/head - even up to 18 months - but that cannot be said of recent years. My beard growth has not changed - I have been assured by skin specialists - but the quality of the cutter performance has faded. Worst purchase I ever made. This is a knock off of a knock off. This shaver cartridge scrapes my skin and this morning it pulled my hair as I was running it. Been using this Braun shaver for 16 years now and have replaced cartridges about every 18 months - 2 years. Never have I had an issue. Unfortunately, I threw the package and the box that it came in and I’m unable to return this product. Truly a dishonest item for sale.

The portion of the head that holds the foil is made out of plastic whereas the genuine Braun product is made out of metal. I looked at both my old genuine Braun head and this one under a magnifying loop and you can see definite differences. The holes in the Braun foil are hexagonal with very defined corners. The holes on the aftermarket part are more like an oval, without the distinct corners and hexagonal shape. The result is that it takes me three to four times as many passes to get the same shave quality as the genuine Braun part. This might be compatible with the Braun Series 7 razor, but it doesn't shave off the facial hair very well. I need to press harder and go over the same areas multiple times.Thinner material composition of the shaver head makes it feel like a toy.Shaver head sound is louder than before.I've enclosed a picture showing the inner cutting surface showing that the tension springs are missing.
My husband has used the same Braun 7 series for the last few years and has replaced the blade/foils many times. This particular assembly did not move properly when he tried it - it would stick/catch when moving across his face and did not improve the shave at all compared to the prior unit.When inspected off the razor, the assembly still sticks a bit when rocked, noticeably more so than the old unit. I don’t know if this was a dud unit or an unmarked second or a counterfeit, but it isn’t right.Walmart has accepted the return despite its single short use, which I appreciate.
The 70S is a genuine OEM part that fits perfectly. However, i have not had as close a shave as my original cassette. This could be due to different maker of the shaver resulting in compromised quality of the blades. I still get a good shave but it takes much longer and repetitive crosses to get that quality shave. I read somewhere that the blade is no longer from Germany or uses german steel which possible leave something to be desired. I adjusted the closeness of the blade and it still needs several passes to accomplish original performance. Got a great deal so shop around and get the best possible deal. Though this is an OEM part does, fits and does give you an option to spending $$$ on handheld razors.
First impression with this replacement compared to the original- cheap. Where the original felt solid and weighty, this replacement feels light and cheap. Now once it was added to my razor my opinion changed. The cutting performance is excellent. I would say it is on par with the original. My guess is that the only difference is the housing in the original was likely aluminum where as now it's plastic on the replacement. Once you use it you won't know the difference is housing quality. I'd recommend giving this a try and holding off on first impressions until it's in your razor and you evaluate how it cuts. I plan to update this review in a few months to inform others on how well it's held up which is really my only concern

Be very careful if you use the blades this long. The front shield on the blade disintegrates and can scrape your face. Amazingly, you can get that many years out of a single babe. I replace my shaver head annually with Braun product and always look forward to a smoother shave. This latest replacement however is terrible, harsh and asbrasive on the skin with very poor cutting. Hard to believe it is a genuine Braun product. Waste of money and might spell the end of my shaver. Not inclined to use Braun again
