LOOOVE my Brentwood espresso maker! My mom has had a Brentwood espresso maker for about a year. Her espresso coffee comes out great, and we all love her coffee. So, when my old espresso maker "died" (lasted about 25 years), I could have bought a new, same model, same brand espresso machine (Yes! The same make and model is still being sold!). However, since I truly enjoyed the espresso from my mom's Brentwood coffee maker, I bought a new Brentwood from WALMART.I must say that before brewing any espresso, I first ran the Brentwood espresso maker, five (5) times. Each time with new, clean, filtered water. After that process, I then made espresso, and it tastes grrreat! Also, the frothing wand makes perfect frothed milk!!!BRENTWOOD ESPRESSO MAKER is a GRRREAT espresso ... MoreLOOOVE my Brentwood espresso maker! My mom has had a Brentwood espresso maker for about a year. Like another reviewer we needed to replace our KRUPS 4c espresso machine. We tried a few and found they just couldn't make the cup we wanted to drink in the morning. It was the other reviewers comparison to their KRUPS that convinced us to try it. YAY! It is as close as I imagine we can get to our best morning cup of strong, long pull espresso. The two downsides are that the resulting cup is not quite as hot as we prefer...but pretty darn close and the machine is mostly plastic which makes us wonder about its durability. We shall see but so far so good. Easy to use and clean. As coffee snobs, we recommend this machine.

Decent little machine.

This is a pretty good espresso machine but has some flaws - for the price I would still say it's okI've used this for well over a year and it's still holding up, but on its way out. Like a lot of other cheaper machines you need to put an exact amount of water in each time.. There's no reservoir (I do atleast). You CAN fill it... but you'll need to hang around to shut it off before your cup overflows.Every feature is controlled by one knob, which is convenient. The problem is that the light is not very bright at all. I have left the machine on by accident and it stays on. You can walk by it a dozen times and not notice. Just a small gripe but I assume it's burning out the coil(s).I'm a heavy coffee drinker. The brewing is still pretty good - no complaints there - but the frother has lost a lot of pressure. It boils the milk instead of steaming it. When it was new it did froth pretty well but kind of temperamental if you're new to the experience. In the end, the reason I'm writing this review is because I'm looking for a new one and thought I'd chime in. I've become a huge fan of espresso as this was my first machine. Honestly, I can't see myself going back to regular drip coffee. I haven't since I've owned this. The lattes these machines can make is better than dunkins.. Hands down. With the right coffee :-). I personally use Italiano. It comes in a black tin. 5/10 strength and very smooth.I'd recommend this product to see if you're into espresso. If you're familiar with espresso you can find better machines with more features that aren't terribly more expensive. Thanks for reading and happy hunting !

Glorified single cup coffee maker.

I ordered this as a treat to myself, and was amazed by the decent price for the amount of features. Built-in grinder? Warming plate? Amazing! I needed a new grinder as well, so why not? I was planning on spending at least $40 on a replacement coffee maker, so this just made sense.Upon receiving it today, I read through the instruction manual, washed the removable parts with soapy water, ran three water-only cycles, and then realized... There is no warming plate. There is no automatic shut off (you have to stand beside the maker and turn it off yourself, hoping you get it at the right level as you're turning the dial). There is no removable water tank. It does not brew 20oz of water, it brews 8oz at most. There is no brew strength selector. It is not ... MoreI ordered this as a treat to myself, and was amazed by the decent price for the amount of features. Great price for an Espresso Machine
27 July 2017

I bought this to replace my Krups machine which was leaking water from the top. Most likely because of mineral build up over the last 10 years that I couldn't remove. I waited far too long to buy a new machine because they are so expensive but when I saw this machine for only $30 with good reviews I thought I'd try it. I made my first double shot of espresso this morning with the new Brentwood. I don't use the frother on these machines ever because I have a Mr. Coffee Latte Machine that makes GREAT froth....just not strong coffee because it's a drip machine. So after I made the espresso, I poured it into the carafe with froth and then poured it into my cup. I took a sip and I swear the clouds parted and the angels sang. The latte was nice and strong! Something I hadn't had in over a year. All is right with the world again, lol.I saw that someone said there were two cons with this machine; a short cord and the dial not being precise. The instruction book says it has a short cord for safety reasons. But at around 31 inches long, I found it to be just fine. As far as the dial, I'm not sure how one could find it a problem. You rotate it towards you all the way to brew. Between the Brew and the Off is a Pause setting. You rotate it all the back to froth.I am very happy with this machine but based on the fact that I don't use the frother, I can't recommend this machine. But if all you want to do is make espresso without the frother, I can recommend it. It's made as well as the Krups machine, but it is made well for $30. At that price, if it lasts a year I'd be happy.

Save your money
2 January 2020

This machine is horrible. The instruction book is not clear at all. I got this for the purpose of frothing milk for lattes and cappucinos. If all you want is hot milk, save your money and heat it in the microwave because you will not get any foam out of this. It does make coffee, but so does my $20 machine and the frother sucks. This machine is also a hazard. The metal bar on the frother gets burning hot. The instructions advise you not to touch the entire top or front of the machine because it gets so hot. I ended up with this machine spraying water everywhere and hot milk all over myself and the walls. Go for the MR coffee machine. It has good reviews and there are plenty of videos online for it.

Sturdy Little Espresso Machine
4 June 2021

We like espresso. Not latte or cappuccino or any of the other milk-froth required fads. Just espresso! It took hours of searching to find a sturdy machine that would produce a good cup of java without any fuss. With this Brentwood being so cheap, compared to other espresso makers, we were a bit wary of it, but it looked so much like our old one, we thought we'd give it a try!First up, the portafilter doesn't fit easily into the group. You really have to exert pressure. According to DH, that's normal. It takes a few goes to get it to loosen up as it is designed to fit snugly.Secondly: the only problem I've noticed is that the machine does not have an auto-off. We discovered this by sniffing the air and asking "What's burning?" You need to remember to manually turn it off when you take your coffee - and don't forget you made coffee and leave it sitting! Finally, the water runs out of the frother nozzle if you overfill a little. We have a little jug permanently under the nozzle, and it resolved the problem easily.Apart from these minor issues, this is a great machine. It has churned out cup after cup of aromatic coffee. I love that it comes with a scoop and tamper. Scoop your grounds (we use Cafe Bustelo) press down lightly with the tamper, brew, and enjoy. Also, if you are brewing for yourself alone, you don't have to use the carafe, you can tuck a mug under the nozzle and have one-step coffee. The mug needs to be small to fit, but I found a perfect sized 6oz one. I particularly love that I'm not forced to use the carafe, as you get with some models. We have not tested the frother. As mentioned, we drink coffee. Black. Strong. Hot!

Super simple!
29 December 2021

This machine was really easy to work. Figured it out right away without even using any instructions! The “pause” option on it is pretty cool to have. I’ve bought quite a few of these in the past and I think this one was my best purchase by far! It is quick and easy to make my white coffee and then clean it up. And the parts on it aren’t so fragile like the others. You can literally just fold the frothing part when not in use so it doesn’t stick out and get possibly broken. Plus the price was cheaper then other stores I looked at. I would definitely highly recommend this one!! We love it!!

Wonderful!
24 January 2022

My spouse and I recently stayed at a hotel that had an in-room mini espresso maker. We loved it so much that I began a search for a similar item, that was not so costly. Office Depot had the best published price for this item, by far. It is simple to use and clean. The size is great as it is compact and does not take up an enormous amount of counter space. The steaming wand does take a bit of practice; however, you will learn quickly as hot milk sprayed all over you is a strong deterrent for mistakes. I would recommend this product.

Would put your money into a different machine
19 February 2022

I bought one for me and one for my partner but after a few months, both machines stopped producing espresso properly. Only a few trickles would come out and the machine would get overheated, even after following the cleaning directions and installation instructions. I bought the protection plan through Allstate but they are instructing me to connect with the manufacturer, Wholesales Ventures Inc., which I have no way of doing. So basically I cannot get a refund or put the protection plan I bought as security, to use.
