GR250 was bought 14 months ago. The non stick coating has had it. It is very black and starting to lift in the centre. The left hand hinge no longer works and top always falls to left. I think a bolt thread is stripped. I have a few Breville products and like them. Personally i would like to see Breville make a stainless or carbon steel surface on the sandwich press. I would also suggest they make the adjustable stands at front 4mm higher as customers do not always want the butter/fat etc to dribble off.

This is our third one of these we love them so much. We kinda ruined the first one learning the hard way. DO NOT use the top plate to directly cook food, use a baking paper between the food and the top plate otherwise the top plate is impossible to clean properly. and DO NOT use any cooking spray, oil etc at all. Stick to these rules and it is a brilliant machine, we cook most of our meals (for two people) on it. Brilliant for steaks, re-heating pizza, hot dogs, steak or egg and bacon sandwiches, toasties. Use it to heat up a pasty you have just microwaved and gets rid of the soggy limp pastry. Just a new one for our caravan. Highly recommenced purchase. A minor downside is that the printing on the top lid eventually wipes off with cleaning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had two of these in a row now. The surface eventually died on my original one (I'm a very heavy user) after 3 years. Have had my current one for two and is holding up well. Glad to see the design change in the top plate so there's now no drips behind the unit and the catch tray works perfectly. I'd say I use this daily with everything from sandwiches, grilling meat, awesome crispy bacon and even pancakes are surprisingly good. When my current ones surface gives up, I'll definitely be replacing it with the same unit.
I have owned several versions of these countertop grills.They all work great except for the on/off switch, which has failed prematurely on a few versions.The workaround is to bypass the on/off switch.Just turn the switch permanently on, set the temperature and plug it in to start.Unplug to stop.Repeat.The pull design on the the plug end guarantees safety.Has worked for years.
Awesome appliance, goes flat and angled, excellent for eggs (open) and steaks / sausages (closed) due to this feature. Heat control is very helpful for these different uses. Fat tray works very well, and clean and easy to remove for washing. Appliance can be stored standing up on its own, very convenient feature . Very please with this purchase and one flat one grill plate is far better than having two grill plates as on other alternative appliances. Highly recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this as an upmarket replacement for our old much loved cheaper model plain sandwich press which unfortunately eventually diedAlas I don't know if this is normal or just an issue with our machine but this new model doesn't actually toast the sandwiches - it just makes them wet and slushy - it doesn't matter what setting we use on the temp dial (even sear is useless)The insides do warm up - the cheese melts and so on but the bread is never toasted - just wetI'll probably just opt for the plain Toast & Melt version with the two flat plates and no controls and hope it's like our old press
My old sandwich maker broke, and I bought 2 new ones from other brands, however they were worse than each other! Then mt friends reccomened this,and I was originally not going to buy it because of the price, however thought I'd give it a go. it turned out to be the best thing ever! I use it many times a day, for so many difrerent things, from toasting, to grilling, and even frying! It is so good, as you can save space in you cupboards by having an appliace that does a million things, it also stands up vertically for storage, so you can slot it in at the side of a cupboard, and don't have to take up space on the bench! I would definatly reccomend the "AdjustaGrillâ„¢ & Press", as it has so many uses, and cooks really well!
