Best Home Made Espresso!

As other reviews mention the dialling in feature is the one that takes a little getting used to. I did waste a bit of coffee in the first few days trying to get the extraction right but after a week or so I almost feel like a barista! There's lots of videos on YouTube which are really helpful. The build quality of the machine is superb. Cleaning is easy and everything feels really intuitive. It has this really nifty little button under the drip tray which when you turn it sets down some wheels so you can glide the machine around and get to the back if you need to remove the water tank. This is only for cleaning purposes as there is a touch sensitive flap at the front which enables you to top up the water easily. The machine is quite heavy and large. I wouldn't be able to tuck it under a kitchen wall cupboard (see photo for scale) so you need to be mindful of this. However, it looks extremely stylish and is a big hit with my friends when they pop around for coffee. Due to the price this is a considered purchase but I'm glad I chose it.

Great machine, great espresso, easy to use; however, the bean hopper broke easily after only 4 months of having the machine. Breville does not have the part readily available for shipping. Didn't think this would be something that would need to be replaced so soon; however, I find myself waiting over a month and a half for a replacement. The plastic edges that lock the pins in place chipped off and went into the grinder. This caused HOURS of trying to unjam the grinder - TWICE did I have to figure out how to unjam what seemed to be an increasingly impossible task. Thankfully I have an awl and tweasers which saved me. Otherwise, I honestly don't know what options would be available - ship it back?! There was only so much customer service could do for me remotely. Otherwise, I honestly don't know what options would be available - ship it back?! There was only so much customer service could do for me remotely. I will probably need to replace my grinder at some point given all of the tools I've jammed in there to get the tiny plastic pieces of the bean hopper out. Recommendation for Breville: -- Please make the bean hopper higher quality. Please. Recommendation for users: -- I've placed blue painters tape on the broken edges of the bean hopper while waiting for the new one to arrive. I will likely tape those fresh edges to ensure they have some added protection as well. Seems to be doing ok and not chipping into the grinder any further. Plus if it does happen to chip, the blue tape should make it easier to identify the pieces in the grinder. Hopefully I can just avoid this issue altogether. -- If you are a first time Breville user, consider purchasing a bean hopper when making your initial purchase of the machine to save yourself time and frustration on waiting for the part to arrive. Also, I feel like I am under utilizing my machine as a first time espresso machine/Breville owner. Would appreciate if Breville automatically included classes on how to make the different drinks and even create your own. You can do this for purchase which I intend to do at a $50 charge. I simply hope I get what I need out of it to fully utilize my machine. While there are drawbacks to any machine, I give this 4 stars as it really is quite simple to use. Even though I don't necessarily know what I'm doing, it produces tasty espresso that keeps me caffeinated.

After many nights reading reviews and watching YouTube vids, we were convinced to get the Oracle Touch. After a few so-so coffees while dialing in the right grind and temp settings, every coffee since has been perfection. The machine wakes up every morning by itself, ready to make our flatties. We’re currently on a keto diet, so we use a mixture of heavy cream and water instead of milk, but using the touch screen interface we created a perfect recipe for that and gave it a custom icon so that we can make the perfect cup every time. I was sceptical that the automatic steamer would do as good a job as a manual wand, but it is great. Another bonus of how easy this machine is to use is that our 9yr old daughter is now perfectly capable of making a fantastic cuppa and bringing it to us in bed on a lazy Saturday :) Highly recommend this machine!

Great machine!

I got this machine about a month ago and I love it! At first it seems like it could be a little intimidating. However, once you get used to it, it’s really easy to make a great espresso, cappuccino, etc. The milk wand works great too. It’s easy to adjust the temperature and froth level to get the creamy micro foam needed for a perfect cappuccino. There are a few steps you need to take after each coffee session for preventative maintenance to be sure the machine stays in great condition, but it only takes a few minutes and it’s worth it considering this machine is an investment. If you’re the type of person that buys coffee every day, this machine will pay for itself before you know it. The machine is a crowd pleaser. It’s very easy and to make cappuccinos for four people, for example. The machine makes easy work of it. Also, the blue color of this machine is beautiful. In the right light it almost has a metallic look while maintaining a matte finish. It adds a really nice color to your kitchen without being too “loud”. The pictures I included don’t do it justice. I highly recommend the machine if it’s within your budget.

This is my 3rd Breville espresso machine in a raw, one replacing each one with exactly the same issue. They all are just perfect when they work as they supposed to do, we were just in love with them. My first one started to have problems just a few moths after the two years. Not on warranty anymore after two years. I descale every time the machine asked for it. I would say 4 times in total. The machine started to trip the breaker in the kitchen. I did a search on line and it seems to be something that happens with this model quite often. I decided the first time to paid the reparation fee and sent it back. I got and upgrade (oracle touch) because my model wasn’t available anymore (oracle). I got and upgrade (oracle touch) because my model wasn’t available anymore (oracle). I got my replacement and I was suggested to descale more often. I started to descale every 4 months and everything went fine until a year and a few months, again the machine started to trip the breaker in the kitchen. I called back and after going back and forth,I told them that I don’t understand how I’m going to pay more than 2000 for a coffee machine that is going to last less than 2 years. I got a replacement again, and they suggested to descale every two months which I did consistently. My machine started to Tripp the breaker again after 8 months! This can’t be a coincidence! I’m super diligent changing the water, and servicing the machine. I think there is a problem with the boilers and the descaling process that leads the machine to leak inside. I can actually hear the steam coming from the machine after I turn it off. I don’t have more answers from customer service and they do no want to replace the machine anymore; living me with no solution; other than to buy a new machine.I think because is a design problem this problem needs to have a resolution. The model should be discontinued until it is proven fit for use and people with the same issue should be reimbursed. This is what any company that cares about customer service and wants to sell quality products is expected to do.

Bought Oracle Touch in 2019 to upgrade from a super automatic. I wanted to have the manual extraction and frothing capability but also auto convenience for my wife. We prepare 5 drinks a day on average and will sometimes double that with guests. Having owned it for over three years, here is my pro/con list and overall impression. PROS: 1. Still the only machine to give manual and/or auto experience. 2. Built in on/off programming! 3. Low maintenance relative to super autos after milk prep. 4. Huge water capacity 5. User customizable drink recipes. 6. Auto tamping makes it much neater with little grounds spillage. CONS: 1. Three problems requiring repair, most recent rendered inoperable, requiring sending to a service center. 2. Aftermarket accessories are limited. 4. Steam wand is in a fixed position making manual frothing challenging. Needs to swivel/pivot. 5. No app/Bluetooth/WiFi control. 6. Factory repair backlogged for repairs over a month. Summary All in all it is a great machine which makes great espresso and milk prep consistently either manually or with a touch of a button. At this price point that should be a given. It could have a few more updated features to make it even better, such as app support and a pivoting wand. The problem with it is just that, problems. Too many problems for a machine that costs this much. I had read about the brand’s quality issues before I purchased but took a chance that their halo machine would be higher quality. I’ve owned other brands of espresso machines that had no issues for many years. Not so the Oracle. 2 years for minor issues and just 3 for a major one is simply not acceptable to me given the cost. When will something else break? I can’t recommend the Oracle because of its poor durability history and price, unless you view it as a disposable appliance. I do not at this price point. This is most definitely a consumer grade product, packing in features over quality.

Not sure it's worth the markup vs. lower model

Is it worth the extra 2k from the model below without the touchscreen? I'm still deciding. PROS: - touch screen for easy drink type selection - grinding and tamping all done by machine in one step CONS: - very loud - water tank in the rear of machine is very annoying to have to refill, because i have to remove the drip tray, twist the dial, roll the machine out of its position, it strains the electrical cord, and then push it back. On the side of the machine would have been so much better. - tamping function is poor - its never smooth, and often grinds spray outside the portafilter - if frothing the milk manually, you can only do it with the wand in the up position, and so can only lift the milk cup away from the wand while it's up. as soon as you go back to the ... MoreIs it worth the extra 2k from the model below without the touchscreen? On the side of the machine would have been so much better. - tamping function is poor - its never smooth, and often grinds spray outside the portafilter - if frothing the milk manually, you can only do it with the wand in the up position, and so can only lift the milk cup away from the wand while it's up. as soon as you go back to the down position it purges automatically. the purge should be at least delayed a few seconds. - also, because of the way the wand works, every time you remove a cup from it, it inevitably drips ON THE COUNTER, NOT the drip tray. so it's messy, also very annoying. - the ding of the bell when a step is done is too quiet, you can't hear it, wish it was louder - because of the low-ish profile of the machine, we had to buy special YETIs that would fit under the tap. If I want a big drink for on the road, say 4-6 shots, I have to brew into one cup then pour that into another one. I get the need for the lower profile, but hey, that's my use case. I buy ventis at starbucks. Part of the reason we invested in this machine is for an elderly family member who can't handle all the options of the non-touch screen. However, the insertion of the porta filter in the grinder, and then the pour, is not intuitive and it's been difficult for them, which makes us wonder if we should just return the machine and get the cheaper, more manual version. On the brew tap, you have to "figure out" that the porta filter needs to start on the left and be twisted to the right (its marked on the grind step). And the resistance on the brewer, I have found that the machine will actually slip a bit sometimes on the counter, so you have to hold it while putting the porta filter into place. I understand some people will balk at my review, but hey, accessible design - too often I watch my family member get excluded because design isn't accessible. So, this stuff is important to me. Basically paid an extra 2 grand for the machine to tamp and it doesn't even do that well. Breville support so far has been a huge disappointment - I bought direct from them specifically to deal direct with the manufacturer - but I can never get through on the phone, the chat agent is permanently offline (yes during business hours). For example, for whatever reason on the breville website when i tried to purchase the darker stainless color, i couldnt bundle the extended protection product with it - it just didnt show up. I tried numerous times to get through to support - by phone, and submitting a ticket, and NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME. Then they just closed the ticket some days later. So i ended up buying the color we didn't want, because that was the only way I could select the extended protection product. More recently when i got a call back on an issue, the person on the call was a little salty and there was all this yelling and background noise - maybe work from home? It was so distracting that she actually had to ask me to repeat myself multiple times - I am not a quiet talker haha. And she couldn't confidently answer my question, I had to ask her like three different ways before she sort of gave me an answer - that still I don't know if it's correct - will I get the barista pack?? Still waiting. Just hope I get the barista gift pack that was advertised - you actually have to register your product before they mail it out - this was a gift, which made that whole step just a ridiculous amount of extra effort. Who decided that? SMH. I spent thousands of dollars on your product - all in all I just expected more.

Outstanding product & exceptional customer service

I have owned my Sage Oracle Touch for just under three years. As a coff-a-holic I have owned a number of high end coffee machines in the past and this I can testify is by far the best designed and built product on the market. It is a pleasure to use and the clever system of dual boilers and manual transition from grinder to group head with separate steam wand, improves the experience and reduces the chances of mechanical breakdown. I have had a problem with water quality in my area with high levels of limescale. This is a problem for any machine that requires the use of a domestic water supply and did cause me some problems. What I can say is that Sage have been exceptional in helping me resolve these issues with my water quality and how it was impacting the machine. Their efficient, honest and no quibble response was hugely impressive. They could easily have dodged this and blamed the water quality as a matter that is outside their control. But I felt they had a genuine empathy and interest in getting my issue resolved. I know this is an expensive machine, but Sage proved themselves to be a brand that makes great products, with genuine integrity who are authentically interested in their customers. Worth it all round.

The Search is Over!

I was on the fence for a long time before I finally decided to buy this machine. For me it was a significant purchase and I didn't want to end up with an expensive mistake. In the past I purchased a similarly priced Bean to Cup machine from another manufacturer, which I returned after a week due to poor performance. As a Nespresso pod user for years I continued to wonder if it was really possible to get Barista quality coffee at home. I did loads of research into different machines and concluded that I did not want a new hobby but still wanted a more involved experience than a full Bean to Cup machine. As such, I ruled out machines that you had to manually tamp the coffee and steam the milk, which are the trickiest elements to master. As such, I ruled out machines that you had to manually tamp the coffee and steam the milk, which are the trickiest elements to master. The Oracle Touch takes away all the learning and skill required when making Barista quality coffee, yet still has enough involvement to make coffee making an event. As others have said, dialing in the Grinder is the only real challenge and well worth spending some time on. The automatic milk steaming is absolutely fantastic creating beautifully textured milk. Everyone who has a coffee made on my Oracle Touch, comments on how good it is, with some even claiming it was as good as any they have had in a coffee shop. Ultimately, it was a toss up between the Oracle and the Oracle Touch, on reflection, the Oracle would have offered a slightly more involved experience at a lower cost but I absolutely love Oracle Touch and if you have a similar objective to mine, just bite the bullet and buy one.

User friendly, fast

After using a less expensive Breville model of my barista daughter's that she loved and reading a ton of reviews for several months, I chose the Oracle Touch as an upgrade to our previous cheap espresso machine. I was reticent to purchase one with a digital display as I felt it was at higher risk of breaking and needing expensive repairs, but I was told by one salesperson on a different website that this is not the case, so I purchased it. My 3 adult children and I have loved it so far. Very user-friendly, even for a low-tech person like myself. I love that it accommodates 8 programmable drinks; has a lit, visible water reservoir display; fills easily from our detachable faucet; has a fairly fast hot water spout that also flows right into a cup sitting under the ... MoreAfter using a less expensive Breville model of my barista daughter's that she loved and reading a ton of reviews for several months, I chose the Oracle Touch as an upgrade to our previous cheap espresso machine. My 3 adult children and I have loved it so far. Very user-friendly, even for a low-tech person like myself. I love that it accommodates 8 programmable drinks; has a lit, visible water reservoir display; fills easily from our detachable faucet; has a fairly fast hot water spout that also flows right into a cup sitting under the group head (we use our hot water for hot tea a lot, also); programmable shot temperature; precision conical burrs; automatic grind/dosing/tamping (this was a HUUGE, less messy upgrade from my daughter's $700 machine); automatic milk texturing (or manual, if you prefer); simultaneous coffee and milk texturing steam. Our first problem was that the shots were only about 25% the volume that we were used to seeing any machine produce, so after making sure the problem wasn't too fine of a bean grind, we manually adjusted the extraction time and it fixed the problem. Not being purists, we're still learning about how the grind/water temp/length of extraction affects the flavor, but time enough for that, plus honing our wretched latte art skills. If each user prefers a different coffee bean, we recommend roughly estimating the amount of beans one pours to be for only the amount of coffee one is making personally so the next user can load the hopper with their taste preference (we're a mix of dark roast/medium roasters). I would love for the machine to heat up a bit faster than the 5ish minutes, but otherwise, we really love it. It was taller than the $700 machine so just barely fits under our cabinets; be sure to measure first!
