I bought this kettle for its colour and looks :-) and it hasn't disappointed so far. It's well made and sturdy with a good weight. Not too heavy for me (age 56) even when full of water. I barely notice the little ping sound, perhaps because this is my second Sage kettle so I'm used to it. I love the soft open/close lid at the push of a button and the fact that you don't have to remove the lid totally to refill it (as with many other kettles). Yes it is a bit noisy as others have said but I only boil it 4/5 times a day so it's no big deal. It's no noisier than my previous kettle. It's obviously on the more expensive side for a kettle but hopefully it will last a long time and prove that it is worth spending money on good stuff.

I bought this kettle after a lot of consideration. Looked at it in store, it has the look and feel of a high quality kettle which you expect from Sage. The weight and sturdiness appeals to me, the style is curvy and not clinical as other similar priced kettles. The large soft opening lid and spout helps avoid water spillage on the kettle body or worktop. The water level indicator on the side is genius, you can see the water level when filling, (not on the handle which is obscured when filling). It's quiet when boiling and the subtle ping when boiled just confirms the thought that went into the design. The price definitely justifies the quality and style.

The Soft Top Luxe is a nice upgrade, but like other reviewers have noted, it is a little on the noisy side.The colour is pleasant and fits in well with our kitchen and it looks quite modern and timeless. I am a little apprehensive about the single mounting point for the handle, opposed to a two point fixed handle. Time will tell as to how well the single-point holds up to use and if/when it fails...Again, like others have noted, the side-view window is abysmal and you can't see the water level well at all. I bought this kettle and we love the functionality and the quietness of it. I've always loved the quality of Breville products including their milk frother too. My friends and partner are also loving the brand and their products they offer.I've also been a loyal customer of Breville amongst all other brands for over 20 years.Last night the lid on my kettle malfunctioned and I have reached out to one of their friendly and diligent contact centre staff Sfundo, looking after my case on the lid. All other parts are working and keen to get it fixed due to sustainability reasons in today's environment. Looking forward to getting the kettle fixed as I'm using sticky tape in the meantime to hold the lid down!
This kettle is heavy if you have arm issues (though I was aware of weight before purchase) very noisy when boiling and not as described - quite quiet. It also judders about sometimes especially when boiling less than full amount. and particular gripe is that you have to fill it to a certain amount (cannot remember how much, but too much) or it does not go fully to the boil , not a lot of help if you only want one cup of tea. This information is not given in any of the sales pitches that I saw. Robust enough structure but not good enough for a kettle at nearly £100. I would not recommend it
This kettle has been in use for nearly a week. Having filled to level 3 to make coffee it then noisily came to boiling, gone quiet and then all the boiling water came out, luckily without scalding anyone. Having mopped everywhere up, it was refilled to level 2 - exactly the same thing happened. So the kettle was returned to John Lewis the same morning where they filled the kettle themselves and switched on - yes, exactly the same thing happened again - although luckily the assistant quickly pressed the switch to turn it off so that the boiling water which was about to go all over the counter, was safely stopped. An extremely stylist kettle but unfortunately does not work properly or safely.
The kettle itself is great. It has a soft open and makes a little "ding" once it's finished boiling. The solid metal handle makes it feel premium and it looks great next to its sister toaster. The colour however is misleading. I purchased this kettle expecting it to be black as it stated in the name but instead it was a dark metallic colour. Turns out there is another variation that is actually black so just look carefully because I had some difficulty returning this item because it was purchased on clearance.
We bought this Breville product just over a month ago, and at the time did notice the Kettle's heaviness when empty. It doesn't affect us, but anybody suffering from joint pain, for example arthritis will find holding the Kettle whilst filling it difficult.At first it seemed to take longer to boil the maximum amount of water, but overtime and being used on a regular basis, the time has reduced but not significantly. The electrical cable is a good length to be able to position the Kettle on the kitchen bench.We are pleased with the Kettle and would recommend this product in comparison to our previous cheaper priced Breville Kettle.
We are really pleased with our purchase of the Sage Soft Top Kettle.It has a stylish and modern design, and the brushed stainless finish allows the kettle to fit with most kitchen styles.It features a soft open lid which is button activated, giving a high quality feel to the kettle every use. The fill level is very easy to read, and after considerable use over a month there is little limescale buildup inside.Our favourite feature is the quiet chime which indicates when the kettle has reached temperature.I would definitely recommend this premium brand kettle.
This is a well made kettle. It has been manufactured with quality materials. It boils the water quickly and relatively quietly compared to other kettles I have used. The operation of the lid as it opens is smooth and reliable. The lid opens sufficiently that the kettle can be filled up from the tap directly or by means of a jug relatively easily. The mesh filter at the spout is made of metal and thus should be more durable than plastic ones found on other kettles. The handle is comfortable to use and not thick. The base is stable and holds the kettle safely.
