Art Deco stylings in a brilliant pressure cooker and slow cooker in one

I so love the new art deco stepped look of the Fast Slow cooker. I've been using it for months and love it. The slow cooker has two settings: Low at 6 hrs or High at 8 hours. Use a timer if you want different times. Having the searing function makes it easy to brown the onions or meat before cooking. I usually use it to soften the onions/celery/carrots while i brown meat in a fry pan under high heat. It's great to steam food too and keep the steam contained. All in all, a great product and the only one recommended by a national consumer rights organisation.

I purchased this product because my last slow cooker died and I used it quite a bit so needed a new one. And boy am I impressed! The sauté function is a game changer for slow cooking and is hands down my favourite function as I hate washing up! This means I can sauté my garlic and onions and bacon in the same pot I’m going to cook my whole meal in. So far I have cooked rice (perfect), a leg of lamb using the slow cook function and it was melt in your mouth perfect! I have cooked loin chips, and diced chicken. There is a recipe book that comes with the product and it stated you could cook a roast chicken in 18 minutes! 18 MINUTES PEOPLE! And it not only worked it was moist and delicious. To say I’m happy with my purchase is an understatement- quiet working noise, ... MoreI purchased this product because my last slow cooker died and I used it quite a bit so needed a new one. I have the Fast Slow Cooker from their first generation. Non-stick coating is still good, easy to clean, and I primarily use it for rice, bone broths, and stews. Lid is easy to remove and clean. The only problem I’ve encountered is for bone broth, the timer max’s out at 99 minutes so I have to increase it near the end to hit 3h.

One of my favorite kitchen appliances!
27 February 2023

Love this! An essential appliance in our house. I had one for around 7 years which finally stopped working, and i've just gone and bought another one. We use this for quick pressure cooker curries, stews, soups and slow cooked meats like ribs and brisket. I'd highly recommend this!

Quick slow cooking, so easy
27 February 2022

The best product ever, no more slow cooker, done in no time. No more waiting 6-8 hrs. Ribs 25min, short ribs 50 mins then paint on bbq sauce under grill, stew 1hr, pasta 5mins, quinoa 5 mins. Or fry onions and garlic before you start other recipes. So easy. Lids attached to pot, easy to remove and clean, no coating on pot but nothing sticks. Great buy.

Save $$$ on electricity and cheaper meats - yum!
12 July 2022

This uses a fraction of the electricity of my oven and produces meltingly tender meats and perfectly cooked grains/legumes in a fraction of the time. I'm also buying much cheaper meats, because they come out so deliciously in the pressure cooker. Since I got my fast slow cooker I have been using it for nearly 50% of the meals and having so much fun trying new recipes! Only thing they could improve is the design of the top, where the lid locks into place, because food can fall into it and it's hard to get into to clean. But I love it all the same!

The Fast Slow Cooker - BPR650BSS

It’s early days but so far I am happy with the Cooker and its capabilities. I was attracted to the pressure cook function which is the most complex to navigate and so far I am happy with it although it does take a little effort and experimentation to achieve desired outcomes. It’s safety features are very good which is important with a pressure cooker. I think the manual needs review as the cooking times and pressures for pressure cook haven’t worked for me. I have been carefully doing my own experiments with pressure and times and feel I am getting the hang of it but it is very much a work in progress.

The One To Rule Them All

I have use this cooker for several different cooking types and it has performed with excellence. I'm an active Dick Smith (owned by Kogan) on line shopper and have reviewed similar products offered there and on other web sites. While the Breville Fast Slow Cooker is more expensive I can confidently say it's worth it and I am sure will work out cheaper in the end, not to mention the ease of use and the excellent results. The instruction book that came with it is comprehensive and easy to read with many warnings (after all one function of this cooker is a pressure cooker). Anyone that does not heed these warnings and find the cooker not to perform as expected have themselves to blame for not reading the instructions, not following the instructions, or just plain ... MoreI have use this cooker for several different cooking types and it has performed with excellence. The finish and solid feel of the cooker, including the lift out pot, inspires confidence to take on any complex meal. Take care when you read reviews just in case you find one written by someone I referred to here.

Three Cheers, Breville Team
8 February 2023

Oh my! Breville has been a part of my life forever. So it seems. I have had many of their appliances and I don't recall a negative. My memory is good! In fact, my Breville bread maker, which by the way is an older machine, is so good I bought one for my daughter and daughter in law. Shared the love! This past month I had an early birthday present. I am over joyed! Breville replaced my dated fast slow cooker for a new one, free of charge. I called them to ask for advice and have just received a new one in exchange for the old. This is above and beyond duty! Three cheers, Breville team!

I have had two of these. Both stopped working after approx. a year. I replaced the first one as I really loved it, but the second one had exactly the same "error". The only function that worked after a while was sautéed. Breville doesn't respond, so two of these cookers have gone to recycling in a space of two years. What a waste. Very disappointed.
