2 Machines, Same issue after 12 to 18 months

They have no at home service and expect you to take the machine to UPS\FedEx and get a box from them to ship it back. For the price of the machine it's pretty poor. You just need to google the issue and you'll see it a common problem with this machine.I took the extended warranty out with Best Buy so will be taking mine back to the store for repair but after spending $5000 on 2 machines over the last few years I think this will be the last time I purchase a Breville coffee machine. It's not a one off problem, its a common problem with the Oracle Touch and again, for the money they need to build a better quality machine. If you are intending on purchasing this machine be sure to take out the extended warranty because you'll no doubt need it. Makes great coffee but is let down by the build quality and support.

A very good machine if you have realistic expectations from it

It's a very good balance between two (very) conflicting requirements I have here. You can actually get a good cup of coffee FAST. And you can still tinker with it over the weekend to improve your formula a bit.Does it give you full control? No! Does it give you razor sharp consistency? Never! So if you are a hobbits, you should really invest in a proper standalone grinder and a good dual boiler machine that would cost you almost the same with much better quality. For me, it was not an option.Oh, and should not discount the milk froth this one creates. It's really impressive and EASY to work with. I am not an expert on this but my tongue agrees 100%!Now down to my only "regret" about this purchase. As I mentioned it was a returned unit and I noticed after unpacking it that someone didn't remove the tray from the drip pan when packing it again and the tray created quite a few scratches on the back plate and the black case. It's a little disappointing scene to watch every morning on your XXXX$ coffee machine but I can't blame anyone for it. I did have the opportunity to return the unit for 2 weeks and I decided it doesn't worth the effort.

In this time I have performed six cleanings and 3 descalings, both of which are very simple and easier than they were for the BES900XL.If you live in an area with hard water, make sure you use a water softener, or better yet, deionized water. Hard water and infrequent descaling is the #1 reason espresso machines bite the dust. You've heard it before but freshly roasted beans are absolutely essential to making good espresso. The digital numeric grind settings on the Oracle make it very easy to dial in the grind.Awesome machine, love it.

Best automatic manual espresso machine
20 September 2024

After some research on espresso machines and following having owned two automatic espresso machines and one manual in the last 20 years I decided to splurge and get the Breville Oracle Touch. There is a lot of information on this machine on the web and lots of reviews. But what made it a great choice for me was the automated steps for grinding and brewing espresso that you actually manually control. The automatic frothing is absolutely fantastic. You still can do it yourself if you prefer. Having two boilers allows you to both brew and froth at the same time. Frankly I really like using it. You have to dial-in the machine to get that perfect espresso taste and this takes a bit of time. So many variables to tweak but in the end it is all worth it. I had another more manual setup (not breville) before, that made great espresso but I managed to greatly improve taste and texture with the oracle Touch. Some features like the temperature controls for brewing, the heated brewing head, multiple grinder ajustement settings, automatic tamping and automatic frothing with temperature control are really helpful to get the perfect tasting espresso. We love our coffee and this machine makes our morning that much more enjoyable.

Breville Oracle Touch and Barista Touch
3 October 2024

We have 2 Breville Espresso Machines, I bought the Oracle Touch for our home and the Barista Touch for our daughter's dorm. They both worked so well and produced great coffees, as featured, until the problem started to come up. After a year, I sent our Oracle Touch for repair due to the broiler issues. And when it came back, there was a dent in a few areas. I think that is expected due to the shipping. But after 2 years, we had the same issues, and I can't imagine paying for shipping again and receiving my machine with an additional dent. My daughter's Barista Touch is also now having a broiler issue. We found out the remedy is to turn off the machine as soon as we are done making coffee to keep it from overheating, etc. The rubber that seals the rubber hose keeps breaking, causing the steam to escape and get everything inside wet, etc. Our daughter moved back in, so now we have 2 Breville Espresso machines on our kitchen countertop because we take turns using them when one stops working. I wish Breville would have authorized locale repair places so we could easily take them in whenever this problem occurs. In short, even with proper cleaning and maintenance, these machines work well initially but won't last long.

I want to love this as I do other Breville products
8 May 2024

I really wanted to love this espresso machine. I initially was going to buy a different model (by Breville) but chose this one. I wish I had gone with my original choice. First, let me say that the machine I am reviewing is my second one as I had to send the first one back twice for issues, but the problems persisted as soon as I got it back the second time. This second one isn’t much better, unfortunately. And short of one person in support, the help is both inconsistent and frustrating.A few points of issue:If I don’t measure each dose out for each cup of espresso, I end up with a mess. I had to buy a tamper to fix this issue. Which is fine expect that this machine is supposed to do that. The two varying answers were 1. The grind setting is wrong (though it works fine on same setting for a measured out dose of beans for one cup) 2. Just measure for each cup even if you’re making multiple cups. Also fine, except one of the other benefits of this pricey model is the perfect dosing of 22 grams. The steam wand sporadically does not purge after frothing. As with the first machine, I’ve already had a few times of this not grinding properly at all. Which the first time I was told it’s because you can’t mix beans. I use one bean type, yet still have the same issue. There are other concerns, but those are the main ones. I think Breville has great products in general, and I would happily buy a different espresso machine from them. I just cannot recommend this one. (Though I will say when it works properly, it makes a great cup of espresso) I would suggest checking out the Impress or other newer models from Breville.

It truly makes perfect barista coffee
29 January 2024

I purchased this from Harvey Norman 1 month ago. To say I love this machine is an understatement. I am extremely fussy when it comes to my coffee, I only like top notch barista coffee from a few coffee spots around Wellington. I have never purchased a benchtop coffee machine as I have never found one that actually delivers proper barista coffee that tastes like my fav coffee spot. This machine actually delivers. I felt over the moon when I realised it makes silky smooth latte's just like I enjoy, and perfect long blacks for my Husband. Once we got the machine dialed in for our fave beans (took a couple of test runs changing grind, pour time, milk temp, froth) we are now producing perfect coffee every single time. Totally worth the money ! P.S I am a soy milk/ oat milk drinker and it perfectly froths this milk exactly the same as it does normal milk

Micro bubbles, not too frothy and big bubbly…and it makes the milk so so so perfect. It’s literally Devine…it’s soooooo easy ….like having my absolute favourite barista from my top coffee shop at home making me coffee…yes it is that good. Worth every single penny….i have no idea how I will get coffee from anywhere else now it’s just so so much better at home. My hubby likes long black and he says it’s perfect as well. I love you can choose milk temp, that it does soft fluffy milk for my sons hot chocolates… it literally everything I ever wanted in a coffee machine. Best bits….super super cant stuff up easy, screen so easy to navigate, so easy to get perfect every time, so good at doing normal or alternative milks, I love you can set the temperature, love you can set the grind size, love you can pre programme all your personal drink choices, love you can set the machine to start up and warm up at different times on different days. Even multiple times a day. Love that you can choose how fluffy you want your milk…they give you normal size milk jug, but a larger jug fits… comes with double and single shot heads. Love this machine.

Reliability is questionable, but the coffee is perfect……

It’s really expensive for a coffee maker, but it makes great coffee. I have a latte every day, and sometimes two. They are almost always perfect. My wife is an Americano girll, and after tweaking the settings she is happy with her everyday cup or three. The machine is absolutely not reliable, but the people at Breville are awesome. Remember to write down your custom settings so you can reprogram the replacement machine when you will eventually get one. This thing steams milk perfectly, brews to any number of infinite settings. A perfect cup of coffee is in there waiting for you.

Sadly it is heading to the landfill

Writing this review after 2.5 years of ownership. This machine has one benefit - convenience. This machine grinds, tamps, pulls shots, and froths milk. I’ve definitely saved a lot of time and money from spending money outside. I learned a lot about making lattes/espressos after owning this machine and now can explain the cons.First, the grinder is inconsistent = inconsistent espresso output. Try making 2-3 cups in a row and you’ll receive different quantities each time. The grind number that you left previously also changes on its own sometimes. You end up wasting beans because of this issue.Second, over time, the milk froth is also inconsistent. Same amount of milk/same settings… usually the first milk froth yields the best results. No changes if you clean it, which I did regularly.Third, my machine stopped working a week after the two year warranty expired. The entire machine overheats (to the point where you can’t touch the right top side of the machine) and then cuts out. Either steam keeps pouring out, or hot water is ejected from the hot water funnel - on its own or while making an espresso. I have about 4-5 minute window to make an espresso before the machine cuts out on its own.For $2500, I wouldn’t recommend this machine. Yes there is a convenience factor that made it appealing, but you’re not getting the best espresso anyways. Better off investing in a separate higher quality grinder and espresso machine.
