Compact design This machine s economical footprint means it can be integrated into any interior design. You also have more storage options for when you re not using the machine, but a coffee hiatus sounds somewhat mythical, so you may never get to packing it away. Microfoam texturing Microfoam is steamed milk that is velvety smooth in texture, ideal for creating latte art. What you want is foam with small, even bubbles (unless you are trying to make a cappuccino). This machine s 1600-watt element gives you adequate steam to create rosettes, hearts, and more. Microfoam will also enhance the overall flavour of your cup. Heats up in three seconds This machine heats up and is ready for brewing in just three seconds. You ll be cupping your espresso in your hands before you can even self-diagnose a case of the Mondays. If you re making a milk coffee beverage, such as a latte or a cappuccino, switching from brewing to steaming is instantaneous. Professional portafilter The portafilter is 54mm wide and holds up to 19 grams of ground coffee. These numbers are optimum for producing coffee that tastes like your usual order at the local cafe.

Bambino Plus Definitely Worth a Shot

The Bambino is working very well. We have had it about a month. Like all machines, and in spite of its automation, it takes some getting used to. Either the machine or I am settling into steady mode of operation.Pros: Once the grind and the shot volume are dialed in, it pulls a very good and consistent shot. If the operator is consistent then the Bambino will be too. Having owned a manual Breville before, it's nice not to have to stand and watch the shot pull or the coffee steam. It frees you up to do other things and therefor speeds up the whole process.Cons: The milk steaming is sometimes inconsistent. There are three settings for milk foam, and the low setting doesn't always make a low amount of foam. The foam is a little frothier than than what you can make ... MoreThe Bambino is working very well. We have had it about a month. We settled on the Bambino because at its price point (especially since it’s on sale currently) it seemed to provide quite a bit for the money. We purchased the unit and brought it home and we were happy but couldn’t help but feel that there could be more. And it could be better. We had toyed with the idea of purchasing the Bambino plus before we settled on the regular Bambino but because the differences appeared to be restricted to the automatic milk frothing and a couple smaller features we ended up settling with the Bambino. However after having the Bambino for less than a day we found out that there are some hidden features with the Bambino plus that make it a much better value. This first feature I am going to mention is one that makes a big difference and is listed nowhere when it comes to purchasing the Bambino plus. It’s not on Breville’s website, it’s not on any seller’s websites and it seems to be a very unknown thing. It’s called a triple solenoid. Without going too deep into its description you should know that it purges all moisture from the Porter filter after a shot is pulled through so you don’t have to sit there waiting for the rest of the coffee to drip out and you end up with a super dry puck. It also allows you to back flush the system which helps maintain the integrity and cleanliness of the internal systems. Just these two features alone would’ve made the difference and had us exchange our machine. Which is exactly what we did. Upon getting the Bambino plus and bringing it home we found a few more features that we were originally unaware of. Such as the fact that the Bambino Plus comes with not only the obligatory dual wall one and two shot baskets, but also the single wall unpressurized one and two shot baskets. Which is fantastic, as we were going to buy a single wall basket anyway because we had been led to believe that they only included the single wall baskets with this machine in the European market. This review is already long enough so I just wanna mention two more things. The portafilter that comes with the Bambino is very light and feels a tiny bit cheap especially on the handle. The Portafilter that comes with the Bambino plus is much heavier and appears to be more sturdy. This goes for the tamper as well, it is very light and flimsy with the bambino and heavier and sturdier with the bambino plus. Along with the larger water tank and the 3 second warm up that the Plus boasts versus the 1.5 minute warm up of the Bambino, it made our decision to exchange our unit and pay a bit more for the much superior machine extremely easy. I just really wanted to leave this review because had we known some of these things beforehand we would’ve gone with the plus originally.

I am still using 6 month old Kirkland coffee bean as I need to finish it , before I can buy freshly roasted coffee beans, but even with that it makes decent coffee (no crema but flavor).Anyone thinking to buy this machine , go ahead with your purchase. Its the best starter machine in the market. I have owned it for 2 weeks only and cannot stop raving about it. I will update this review if my review change.

Compact cafe in your kitchen

Bought this machine on advice from a colleague who swears by it. We are no longer buying coffees outside of the home and wanted a machine to deliver that cafe experience. It is compact, smart and makes a mean expresso. Also looks good on white counter tops without hogging too much space. My husband loves it. I like it. To be honest, I am still mastering it as I am very particular with my coffee. A great cup of coffee, consistently made is a work of art and not as easy as it looks.I used to work as a barista back in the day with a beautiful Italian machine. This is not that, but a good home compromise. If you are buying this machine, you will need to budget for a good grinder too.I currently have a crappy one which makes my coffees as unpredictable as Sydney ... MoreBought this machine on advice from a colleague who swears by it. Think ahead for coffee grind disposal and a system for washing up.I still love my Brutek plunger for a long, hot morning coffee that travels everywhere. This machine does not replace that.My goal is to be able to make a perfect latte, that is the right strength and temp. Not there yet, but looking forward to mastering that.

Decent basic machine ruined by bad decision s
12 January 2023

I’ve had the bambino for over a year now and it’s fine for a basic all in one espresso machine. It pulls a nice shot, but the automatic milk steamer is kind of pointless, even on the hottest setting the milk really doesn’t get warm enough, and the foam options are pretty much none or all the foam. The wand works fine as a manual milk steamer, except it’s extremely annoying to unclog (the clogging isn’t necessarily its fault, that part is inevitable) the real problem is the cleaning cycle, and the reason I’m writing a reviews two years after purchase. Once it’s on, it’s on, no using your machine until you do a half hour cleaning cycle. Which is extremely annoying if you’re running late, already used your extra time to descale the machine (a different cleaning process that CAN be postponed?), already out grounds in your porta filter and doesn’t have an extra one to use. Why can’t I just say “thanks, but I can’t clean you right now” so I can make a cup of coffee and clean it when I’m home from work and have time? Honestly, it would be 3 stars from me if it wasn’t for this cleaning thing. It’s just bad design and decision making, my next machine won’t be a Breville. Get something that doesn’t have the potential to ruin your morning at random.

Fine Cuppa Brew Aside a Wee Design Flaw

There is a dam in the drip tray where this water comes out which restricts the free flow of this residual water into the main body of the tray thus splashing whatever percentage up, over, out and running under the machine. If you feel sporting enough to remedy the situation with a small rotary tool, remove said dam (as I did) and the problem will be averted, otherwise you should be prepared to move the machine after every use so’s you can clean up the flood (slightly exaggerated) beneath it.Of the beverage, I will say this about that. Of three machines I have tried, Breville’s ‘Bambino Plus’ does provide a quite uniform, tasty, smooth and even cuppa. Aside its wee water problem, it is definitely a ‘go to’ for a tasty homebrew. Two items not covered in the manual:a) For the hot water dispenser, the steam wand must be extended outward.b) To remove drip tray, do not try to lift in effort to unhook. To remove, keep tray flat on the counter and pull both tray and stainless cover grate together and directly straight out. To replace, same thing with keeping it flat on the counter, then slide it into the machine.Cordially, ArchieEnjoy Peace

As this is a popular "entry-level" machine, I struggled to find reviews from the perspective of people with more espresso experience, so I wanted to share my thoughts on some of the features that make it a great choice for both beginners and experts. In my opinion, this is a fantastic espresso machine for the price, with features that strike the perfect balance between high-quality customizability and ease-of-use. I love how quickly it heats up, and while the temperature adjustment is limited to 3 settings rather than adjustment by degree, it's a nice feature usually only included on higher-end machines (without modding). I love how quickly it heats up, and while the temperature adjustment is limited to 3 settings rather than adjustment by degree, it's a nice feature usually only included on higher-end machines (without modding). I've heard from some users that the highest temperature is still fairly low compared to other espresso machines, and I don't know the exact temperatures of each setting, but I have no complaints about the temperature—with a quick pre-flush I have been able to pull some really nice shots at the 2nd and 3rd temperature settings. With the included non-pressurized portafilter and a good grinder, an experienced barista can get near cafe-quality espresso with the Bambino Plus. The manual preinfusion/shot timing is a little tricky to figure out, but not bad once you get the hang of it. Finally, the steam wand is amazing. When I was deciding between machines, the steam wand seemed to be an often-overlooked feature especially at this price range, but this has a higher quality steam wand than ones I've seen reviewed on $1000 machines. I use the 2nd setting for latte art and the 3rd setting for cappuccinos. Overall, in addition to being a good beginner machine with the auto-timed shots, auto-steam, and pressurized portafilter options, I highly recommend the Bambino Plus for experienced baristas who want a quick, convenient, and affordable home machine to make quality espresso and latte art. Pair it with a good espresso grinder and some accessories if you want (I added a bottomless portafilter and a distribution tool) and you'll have a solid espresso setup at a great price. Also worth noting, I would recommend this machine and a separate grinder over the other Breville models with the grinder included, for more flexibility and upgrade potential.

Surprisingly fast warm up, consistent output

A couple of weeks in since delivery (matte black ss Bambino), made 25-30 shots (mainly lattes) so far. Each time I use it, I cycle on-off so it doesn't stay on sitting idle. The unit is ready to make fresh liquid gold within seconds, heats up immediately. Agree with so many of the other reviews that not much new to add in the pros or its few cons. My biggest challenge is finding the right balance of coffee volume, grind fineness and freshness. The rule of thumb in the manual is helpful. Too fine and too much, the water can't get through. Too old and too course, weak cup of joe. First world problems, really. For $500, I couldn't be more pleased for its initial delivery of a consistent cup of espresso. Only further use will tell if the unit holds up over time but I ... MoreA couple of weeks in since delivery (matte black ss Bambino), made 25-30 shots (mainly lattes) so far. I bought a Breville centrifugal juicer well over 10 years ago, and it continues to work as well as the day I unpacked it. The more I use this brand, the more I associate its product quality with KitchenAid, whose products are about as reliable and value driven as they come in this day and age of built-to-fail throw away products. I think you will be pleased too, good luck.

Worth every penny!

This may be the best Christmas gift I ever gave myself. I wavered for a long time on whether or not to spend so much money and buy this until I passed by a store and went in to look at it for probably the 5th time, and a customer walked up to me and told me how much she loves hers. So glad she did, and so glad I invested instead of trying to be frugal and getting another under $100 machine. This thing is so easy to use that I have absolutely no excuse to go out to any of the several cafes around our apartment to get a latte. I can work this thing half asleep with all the auto features and it does a really great job. Makes delicious lattes and cappuccinos that have perfect strength. With my old bargain machine, I had to make TWO double shots just to get enough caffeine out of it. We prefer iced drinks generally, but I definitely like to make warm lattes sometimes in the winter and the milk frother does a really great job. I have no clue how to do foam art, so can't weigh in on that, but the auto frother gets it to the perfect temperature and consistency. It took some trial and error to figure out which combo of settings I liked with the frother, but quickly figured out the perfect combo for me. I really balked at spending $500 on a relatively small appliance, but like I said above, WORTH....EVERY....PENNY! We've had it for almost 2 years now. So in that time frame, this machine has easily saved us a minimum of $5,000 with how often we'd go out to a cafe for an espresso beforehand, so I'd say it's paid for itself literally tenfold. AND I actually prefer the espresso drinks that I make at home with the Bambino Plus over any of the actually excellent cafes in the area. Buy it, watch the video tutorials online, and follow the instructions, and if you can't get something to work right call customer service to walk you through it, you will not regret it. It's a worthy investment.
