Improvements in this model include a sturdier construction, very quiet operation and has all the quality expected of a Breville product. It is my third Breville bread maker, the first being a similar large product which I used for years until it wore out. My second was a smaller model and that finally needed to be retired. I mostly use the bread maker on the dough setting as I prefer to shape and bake in the oven. It is easy to add different ingredients to a recipe such as cheese or chocolate, depending on the product. Other things can also be added, once the dough is removed after completion of the dough cycle. Baked in the oven at a suitable temperature, it is great to say that I did it myself. Love my machine!

I have to have my bread like most people need their coffee. I might hold off until a Breville comes back in stock and buy bagels as I do not like the American bread.

Easy peezy bread.
22 December 2022

I waited a couple months before I left a review, because I wanted to leave a honest assessment of the "Custom Loaf" bread maker. My first try at bread making had mixed results. 1st, I didn't temp the water with a thermometer (used my finger to temp water). 2nd, I scooped the flour with the measuring cup. Both no no's if you read their recipe. I made a 2 pound loaf, and the bread came out done, but denser than normal bread. Would have been perfect for slopping up gravies or soup. 2nd try and every loaf after turned out great. I used a thermometer to temp the water, I spooned the bread flour into the measuring cup, followed their directions, and the bread came out great. I used a thermometer to temp the water, I spooned the bread flour into the measuring cup, followed their directions, and the bread came out great. As far as those who have had problems with the paddles staying up, after the bread basket cooled, I filled it up with hot water & a little dish soap about 1/4 way up, leaving the paddle in it. After about five minutes, I took the paddle out, rinsed it off, and used a tooth pick to get the dough from the crevices. Paddle works fine when you get the dough out from the crevices. Takes like 30 seconds. If you follow the directions, it's almost impossible to screw up. It's great having fresh bread when I want it, and it stores well. I put mine in a freezer bag, removed the air, sealed it & my bread would last for around 4 or 5 days. I found that a 1 pound or 2 pound load is same size, comes down to how light or dense you like your bread. Can't wait to make pizza dough. The breaker maker seems a little big, but when you see the size of the loaf...Not so big after all. I couldn't be happier.

Great product with a few quirks
3 February 2023

Got this as a Xmas gift from my husband. I love it! Great bread and easy to use once you get the hang of it. I no longer buy bread! Quirk 1-watch your dough egg hen mixing. I need to scrape the bottom with a rubber spatula during mixing. I sometimes add a teaspoon or so of warm water if it’s not all mixing right Not a big deall Quirk 2. Collapsable bread paddle-the moment you get your loaf out of the pan you need to place pan in sink and put just a bit of hot water in it to loosen the paddle. Quirk 3. To clean the dough bits from the paddle hinge I need to use a toothbrush hot water and dish soap. The quirks are not deal breakers but stuff breville should mention. Otherwise a great product. I only buy all my small appliances from them! Fan for life!

I’m loving this bread maker so far. It’s easy to use and the bread tastes great. There are plenty of settings to fool around with later when I get more comfortable. I had read reviews describing it as quite heavy, so I was picturing something in stand mixer territory that I can barely lift. But, I’m able to lift it up and down from on top of a pantry when needed, no problem. No need to find dedicated counter space. The only downsides would be that it can be a little finicky to make sure you get all the dough from in between the two blade parts, forgetting to put in the blade before adding the ingredients just may happen (um, so I hear…) and taking everything back out in layers can take some time, and some of the interesting recipes it comes with have oddball ... MoreI’m loving this bread maker so far. Nothing beats waking up to fresh bread

We purchased the Breville Custom Loaf Pro last year in the middle of the COVID pandemic. At the time shop visits were limit which was quite tricky for our family of eight so making our own bread sounded like a practical idea. We had read great things about this bread maker and after using it almost daily since March 2020 we can safely say it has lived up to our expectations. The Custom Loaf Pro is super easy to use (the large LCD screen takes the guesswork out of the different steps and settings), the bread options are endless (savoury, sweet, fruit, nut and even pizza or pasta dough, if you can think it up you can make it) and the results are consistent. Baking bread is a bit of a process so it can be a bit hard sometimes to know what stage the baking is up to you, but not with the Custom Loaf Pro because the LCD display tells you exactly what is happening and how much time is left. I also love the clear viewing window at the top and the handy collapsible paddle as it means there is no ugly hole in your finished bread which looks much nicer. Depending on the size of your family you can choose from a few different loaf sizes. For our big family we generally make the large loaf but the smaller loaf is perfect for singles/couples or when making eg. a nut loaf that you only eat small amounts of, as you won't be left with stale bread. Just make a new loaf the next day! It is also ideal if you are baking for someone with allergies, you can customise a small loaf to suit their needs. You can even set a timer so you can wake up to the smell of fresh bread baking, we've already impressed several guests with fresh bread at breakfast time. If I had to give one downside it would have to be the steep price tag. It is quite an investment but if you use it often it is worth it. All in all, it's a big thumbs up for the Custom Loaf Pro.

Solid simple sturdy
2 November 2022

Good solid workhorse, with enough flexibility to make a variety of different breads and other baking goods. Haven't tried the jam making functions yet. Simple and easy to use. Bin is easy to clean, the paddle comes free after a short soak in water. Recipes are simple, once you have determined what appropriate measuring devices you wish to use. The booklet includes conversion tables for customizing your own recipes, or using the machine to just assist with kneading or baking. The element chamber is fiddly to clean of bread crumbs and fruit etc, but simple enough with a damp cloth. Sensible machine with enough options to be useful in the kitchen, especially if you appreciate set and forget design.

So I was using another Japanese brand bread maker but it was limited to just a one pound loaf and I was finding that I was going through the bread faster than originally planned. I saw that Breville, which is a brand I really like and trust, made a bread maker that offered 4 loaf sizes. I thought it would give me more freedom to choose the size of loaf that I currently don’t have. Firstly, it looks pretty nice as it’s all stainless steel but I though it would be more sturdy, like several of Breville’s blenders. The steel seems a bit flimsy in places. The lcd screen is nice and easy to navigate. I appreciate the interior viewing window as my existing maker doesn’t have one. It’s a pretty big machine overall but that’s to be expected for a maker that can produce up to a 2.5 pound loaf. I though the mixing paddle was interesting as it could collapse flat during kneading cycles and during baking. That way, there is less of a gap created by the paddle during baking. Using the machine was quite easy. You select the style of bread, the crust color (light, med and dark) and finally the loaf size. It offers 4 sizes…1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 pound loaves. The very thorough instruction booklet also includes a large sampling of recipes. I followed the rapid basic white recipe, and at a 2 pound size. I added the ingredients in the order the recipe suggested, placed the bread pan in position and then started the cycle. I found that the machine is much louder and vibrates much more than my other Japanese machine. It seemed to wander just a bit on the counter while kneading. After several kneading and rise cycles, it started baking. The window let me see the process and I noticed how irregular the dough ball was as it started baking. I probably should have reshaped the dough after the middle rise cycle because the finished loaf was a bit of a mess on top. My other maker never once had this problem and produced a perfect loaf every time. It’s disappointing that Breville’s program didn’t accomplish this as well. Next time, I think I’ll try the ‘light” crust option, as the crust seemed a bit hard with this first loaf. It taste fine but again, the shape and texture are not up to snuff with my other maker. Im going to try a couple of more times and if things don’t show much improvement, I may be returning this unit and just live with the smaller output from my existing machine. I really love Breville but my first impression of this machine is not as glowing as I thought it would have been. Hopefully it will be better on my next bake.

quality breadmaker

After initially being sent a machine that had some issues with electrical issues (could get the dough setting) and after waiting until Breville had come back from xmas hols and AO doing a great and speedy job exchanging it, I got to make my bread. The maker is good quality and easy to use. I have owned one of these brands before years ago so went with it again. There is the problem that a few people I read have also had with the paddles. Not easy to remove from the tin and gets stuck quite a lot even after soaking, and it does leave a decent indent on the base of the bread once baked. Other than that its great. I haven't used the fruit and nut dispenser yet so can't comment on that but loads of options of different breads and doughs.
