The perfect addition to our basic set. We started with a circle 8 set for my 3 and 6 year olds. My older daughter quickly tired of the limitations and we needed an expansion. This set is so perfect to open up variations and keep kids playing for hours. In a world driving kids to more screens, I make a deliberate effort to give my kids more hands-on building toys. The Brio train sets are one of my favorite toys that pushes my kids to use their imaginations, make sound effects, create stories, race each other, change designs etc. Great quality (smooth!) wood is easy to grab, easy to build with, and durable to last through multiple kids. Highly recommend!!

My child and I used it paired with the BRIO Little Forest Train set and some miscellaneous wooden tracks from other manufactures [it is compatible!].The quality is clearly superior when used with other brands, you can see it in the cuts and fitment.As another reviewer had mentioned, this set is great for creativity! During our play, we were able to make a "pokemon town" and used the track system as a path to move through my child's created world and catch her various pokemon figures along the way. This expansion pack is an excellent addition to any train set offering interchanges and crossroads as well as stop blocks and ramps on and off the track. The quality of the solid wood pieces is excellent with groves in the track that are deep enough to guide the train and keep it on the track, whichever path one chooses. We found the pieces in this pack take the simplest track and make it more interesting and fun facilitating independent play, problem solving, strategy, and imaginative play.
This pack is a must have for anyone looking to expand their train collection. The additional crossings and end ramps lead to endless possibilities of play. We received this set as part of a promotion. This expansion set is AWESOME! Our kids have had so much fun experimenting with the different pieces. We have quite a large collection of tracks and these are compatible- obviously with other BRIO tracks, as well as Melissa and Doug, and another brand we have.The BRIO tracks are sturdy, well made, and they fit together with all of our pieces seamlessly!
We were given these tracks and trains for an honest review. We love these tracks. You just cant beat the quality. I will also say they have updated the tracks (compared to the older ones we have) with a plastic connector which is life changing!! We had to throw out so many track pieces in the past because the wood would crack and would no longer connect. The plastic is a great change and makes them more durable. The trains are super cute and connect with magnets. All 4 kids in our house love playing with these (ages 8, 6, 3 and even the baby!)
