This is a good product however a couple of features were a little disappointing. First of all, for a "glass water filter" there is still quite a lot of plastic. The inner container is made of plastic and feels a bit brittle. The glass also does not feel like the thickest or strongest glass. The inner container is also smaller than our previous Brita filter (2.4L capacity), meaning you need to fill this one more often. The lid is not the most ergonomic design, meaning you have to hold the jug at a slight angle to fill it from the tap, which is a bit cumbersome especially when it already contains a fair bit of water. All in all it's a nice product and we're satisfied with it, but the design couls be improved.

Ive had my eye on this glass water filter for a while and when it came on offer I decided to buy it. Im very pleased with it! Ive had various plastic Brita filters for years and I was never that keen on my tap water sitting in a plastic container after it had been filtered The filter was easy to set up and Im very impressed with the quality of the filter. We have a water softener installed which obviously helps but my first cup of tea was crystal clear! The water tastes like natural mineral water and Im fussy when it comes to my water! The jug is easy to fill with a flip up lid that stays open. The actual lid is a little tricky to remove due to the seal. Im intrigued to see when the filter indicates that its time to change the filter. We are a house of two and will ... This is such a huge improvement on the plastic filters, on all levels. It's ergonomic design and high quality appearance really uplifts my kitchen. It feels much more robust and durable - I found the plastic ones easily prone to splintering so they needed to be replaced much sooner, making this more economical (as well as much more stylish) overall. The lid also fits more tightly so no spillages and there is a light rather than a gauge which clearly shows when to replace cartridges. I was fortunate to see it when in the summer sale so snapped it up - it has been worth every penny. The only improvement I can think of would be to make the jug in an oval shape rather than a round one so it could fit in the door of the fridge, which might not be a problem if you have ... The quality of the filtered water seems cleaner with glass than plastic.
This glass pitcher is an improvement on the plastic pitchers in a number of respects. For example, the pitcher filters water significantly faster than the plastic ones do. All parts except the time counter are machine-washable. (The time counter is the same as in the old pitchers, so there is no downgrade here.) The only place where calcium deposits form over time is the pitcher spout (and those deposits can be removed easily) — this is a significant improvement on the plastic pitchers. The pitcher has a circular cross-section and, as such, handles better while filling the water in. (A potential downside may be the difficulty of fitting the pitcher in the doors of some fridges. That said, for those of us drinking water at room temperature, this is not a factor.) ... MoreThis glass pitcher is an improvement on the plastic pitchers in a number of respects. This is a nice filter jug , i was hesitant to pay the price but snapped up one when promoted at a discount. I am happy with it. There is still plastic involved although they state 50% of that is bio plastic, a great shame they cannot divorce themselves entirely from petro chemicals. The jug is attractive and sturdy enough and i do not feel it is any more prone to breakage than the average glass item. I find it more pleasant to use than my previous plastic Brita jug and it is certainly more presentable. The filtered water now sits in a glass jug so avoids further plastics contamination. All round, im happy with my purchase.
Whilst an upgrade from the usual Brita jugs, and the curved base would be so much easier to clean than my old Brita, I should have read the reviews to discover the inside filter holder is still plastic. Given it hangs low and will be submerged in water, not much microplastic advantage here - it's a shame, it's really something Brita could have thought about! Also the issues around -Doesn't fit in fridge doorNo silicon protector underneath to decreasing breakage risk (though it's very high quality glass)Whitish blue handle really detracts from aestheticsQuite call so the glass won't fit in my Bosch dishwasherSadly to be returned!
I was increasingly wracked with guilt over the amount of plastic water I was generating. I run an air bnb and was previoulsy supplying guests with bottled water in their room. At the start of this year though, my sister suggested buying a water filter, and so I bought this glass jug for my kitchen and also a beautiful glass carafe for the guest room, which they can refill. The only thing I hadn't reckoned on was how many cartridges I'd get through. As I am also now using filtered water for all my own drinks, including kettle use, I seem to be using over one cartridge/month (ie before the red light goes on) which is more expensive than I'd hoped. I was worried also about this being just more of the very plastic waste I'd hoped to be avoiding, but I have just ... Over all a definite thumbs up, although things to weigh up cost wise in terms of a recommendation.
I was delighted when BRITA introduced a glass version of their excellent filter jugs. I cannot fault the jug in any way but for the base. We have quartz countertops and if you're even remotely heavy handed with the jug you're at real risk of cracking it. The glass is quite thin and therefore fragile. We've solved this issue by buying some transparent self-adhesive dots from an online provider. You have to remove them whenever you wash the jug and they don't re-stick so it isn't the most eco friendly practice but it does protect the base from damage. But otherwise v happy with the jug.
Those posting rave reviews clearly haven't noticed a massive flaw. Firstly, this design of pushing the filter down inside the (plastic) jug-insert, is inferior to other designs where it clicks on underneath. It feels like you're scratching the plastic and potentially going to crack it.Secondly, the seal, that you're advised to wash and dry thoroughly before use, is next to impossible to remove. I didn't persist with it as I felt like it would split, but I also don't want trapped water behind the seal.Thirdly, and MOST annoying of all, is no matter how firmly you push the filter down, you will get sitting-water directly beneath it (see pic). You can't tilt the filter (like other designs) to allow the missed water to filter through. It will just sit there until you ... MoreThose posting rave reviews clearly haven't noticed a massive flaw. You can't tilt the filter (like other designs) to allow the missed water to filter through. It will just sit there until you remove the filter and tip it out, which is ridiculous. Who designed this?!Honourable mention a) the plastic handle has a slight gap on both sides which germaphobes may not wish to entertain.Honourable mention 2) there are no silicone pads to protect the bottom of the glass, which I think is a bit of a pee take, considering the price. It's such a shame as the jug is partly glass, but I will resort to buying another plastic one, as the only other glass ones I can see online, are the Aarke ones that are 100% plastic-free, but they're also very pricey. You may think that 1 star is a bit mean of me, but imo, you shouldn't have a case of sitting water that can only be discarded by removing the filter.
