Doesn’t flow properly and water tasty salty

I am ready to bin this, I can’t use the water to drink as it tastes really odd. The jug was fine with the filter received on purchase but replacement filters don’t flow properly and the water tastes horrible. I now use tap water again in my coffee machine. The filters were bought from John Lewis so for sure are genuine. I called Brita as was puzzled by water flow and they told me it would be fine. It’s not !! Waste of money

I’ve been using BRITA filters for a long time, initially to use with Brita filter kettle, which Brita no longer do. I still have a filter kettle and have been very pleased with the filtration filters. For good value for money I have been purchasing the 12 pack. The customer service is excellent and you can actually talk with a real person don’t change that Brita.

Cannot fault the water clarity or taste but I am always left with the worry of what to do with used cartridges. It seems that over half the retailers who choose to sell the products do not help recycle the cartridges once used. This should really be an easier thing to stop them ending up in landfill, I bet most do as the hassle of hunting for and finding a recycling point is a nightmare. The waste tip site were useless, just said bin it. Great advert that is, lumley of plastic in the bin every month. Make it easy and make a real change

Necessary for the best cup of tea
11 May 2023

I have been using these cartridges for many years. I used to use the smaller ones and eventually made the switch to the larger ones. When I have run out or have not used the cartridges, I have certainly noticed the difference with the scum appearing on cups of teaand coffee.

One satisfied tea drinker

I'm an old Englishman who has been living in Maastricht for the last 50 years, I love it here, I'm happy here but I do have one problem. Limburg water; wherever it comes from, does not make good tea! Many years ago I discovered this minor fault in Limburg perfection can be easily corrected by filtering the water using a Brita filter. And so, for the last many years I filter all my water and live happily with perfect tea, everybody who visits tells me it is so.

Programmed to be renewed monthly
1 August 2022

I bought a filter jug when my under-sink water filter desperately needed changing. I knew this because my coffee machine needed descaling almost monthly! I noticed that the filter always needed changing one or two days before the month was up which seemed fair, seeing as the water quality was poor.Once I replaced the under-sink water filter guess what? I still needed to change my Maxtra filter several days before the month was up, which puzzled me because I know how good that under-sink filter is and can taste the difference in the drinking water when it is doing its job.Last month I decided to only use my filter jug daily but sparingly, but it still turned red several days before the month was up. Is this a total con? I certainly didn't filter 100L of water and ... MoreI bought a filter jug when my under-sink water filter desperately needed changing. Pure and simple
19 March 2021

In my opinion the taste and quality from authentic Maxtra+ water filter cartridges is worth paying that little bit more for than other available substitutes. Buy these cartridges in larger packs and when they are on offer and I even suggest they become a cost effective replacement for non Brita products that take a similar branded or non branded cartridge. The quality of tap water in the UK is probably amongst the best in the World but if, like my family, you prefer the clear, fresh and smooth taste of filtered water, particularly in your tea or coffee then... Buy the best and forget the rest!

Value for money?
21 February 2020

I have used original cartridges for years but the cost is high. This means I have tried other brands such as supermarket own brands. They work nearly just as well but I prefer the original. I wish Brita or retailers would do more price offers as then it would be highly recommendable but sadly, at the moment, the price is rather high in my opinion. I know of people who have given up due to the expense of the original cartridges. They now use bottled water instead.

What a difference this makes!

I bought this about two months ago as I have a Fill and Enjoy water jug for cold tap water, a Coffee maker and a BRITA filter kettle all of which rely on this product. The Maxtra Plus filter is undeniably brilliant at its job in removing the impurities found in tap water. The taste of hot coffee whether made from instant or a pod is so vastly different after the water has passed through the filter. There is no peculiar ‘after taste’ left in my mouth and strangely I don’t seem to suffer a dry mouth that ordinary tap water can leave behind despite its intention to be refreshing. I have always enjoyed drinking water but since using the Maxtra Plus filter, I always drink from the filtered water and not the domestic supply. My faith in the quality of the filter is such that I also fill up my cat’s drinking bowl with the filtered water and she seems to enjoy it as much as I do. Without doubt there remains a vast improvement in the quality of both hot and cold drinks when the water used has been passed through a Maxtra Plus filter and I would not ever consider going back to tap water. I for one am a Maxtra Filter convert and highly recommend them to interested buyers. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

keep blocking up

These filters continue to stop working quite randomly. This very frustrating when you want to use filtered water, and there is none available. Then you have to somehow get them going again, thus far the only way I have found is to force a finger into the top of the filter and apply some Vigorous massage to the internal membrane. The other way is to take the filters out of the jug and rerun the original preparation.I have complained about this before but so far have been ignored and told that I am not preparing the properly.
