A good partner for the Glycerin GTS

I want to preface this with I have the world’s flattest feet and I almost never buy shoes online for this reason. My past half dozen shoes are Brooks shoes so I was confident with sizing and ordered these shoes as an alternative to my Glycerin GTS something for shorter sharper runs. I found I couldn’t do a lock lace with the laces provided and after a run I found I couldn’t run with my orthotics in them as it pushed my heel too high. I’ve now done four intervals run in them and I find them a good alternative to my Glycerin GTS as it gives me a sharper run. I’d still rely on those for my everyday running but happy with the Launch GTS for shorter runs or runs on grass.

I was a long time Ravenna wearer and was so confused when it disappeared until realizing it was rebranded as Launch GTS. I had the 8th generation and was very happy with it. I feel they've done well sticking with the formula from the 8 except in one regard and that's the tongue. I'm not a fan of tongues so thin they can kind of fold a bit when I'm getting the shoe on. That said, they're not so thin that the laces dig-in through it - so it's just a nuisance/peeve for me. Design-wise, I think the 9th generation is far better than the 8th. As to the support - same as the Ravennas. I really don't need any kind of orthotic insert whereas with less supportive shoes, it's a must.

Finally a light and fast shoe with support

I was hesitant to try these but they ended up being probably one of the best shoes I've tried. So light but yet a very supportive firm sole. For track workouts, speed workouts, or training runs under 10 miles these are fabulous. The tongue is very minimal so adjusting them correctly so they don't hurt the top of your feet is a bit of an art. You have to be careful about not tying them too tightly. I wouldn't recommend these for longer runs for that reason...the top of your ankle can get sore. That being said I'd use this shoe again and again.

First "serious" running shoes
20 July 2022

After a couple of years using some nice non descript Adidas running shoes I decided to try something new. OK, that and the fact that the soles had already got all the miles they could have on them. The Brooks came out nicely reviewed as a every day runner with a nice neutral stride. Have to agree with that assessment! After 3 weeks of running in them, mostly warm to hot weather and short runs between 5K and 10K, I am nothing but happy. There was no breaking in period at all. They also don't run hot even in this blistering weather and they are true to size.Another big improvement has been on how my joints feel after running. Huge difference there!I will definitely check what Brooks has going on next time I need to buy new trainers.

Good value for the money.
9 May 2023

This is my 3rd pair of Brooks Launch. I find the Launch 9 to be slightly less comfortable than the 8. All due to the redesign of the upper. The tongue of the shoe is very thin and I don’t like the feel of it compared to the 8. Otherwise this is an great shoe that sells at an excellent price point and is good value for the money. I run almost exclusively on road, 50-100km per week up to marathon distance. The last two pairs had 800km before I swapped them out. I wear a size 13 and it fits true to size.

Great shoe
11 January 2023

I bought these for my husband and he is really enjoying them. He wears these while running, casual bike rides, and when doing work around/outside the house. He has a wide foot but these fit comfortably! These seem to run true to size. Unfortunately, I have heard Brooks is discontinuing the Launch model of shoe. I hope this is not true because these are awesome!

Light and helps me go fast
27 November 2022

I took the Brooks online test to find which shoes it would recommend. Previously I was running in a pair of Brooks Beasts which I purchased several years ago. I was looking for something super light, good for running on roads/pavement, and would help stabilise my knees. I just ran my first 10km in these and was impressed. They have good tread, are very light on weight and feel super comfortable. I also appreciate the colour and the reflective spots. It'd be good to have more of the markings as reflective for future updates. Overall, I'd recommend these shoes!

Not what I expected, run large, but I'm happy
19 November 2022

I'm in my 50's. I use these shoes mainly at my HIIT gym. They feel larger than my Launch GTS 8's, probably due to the very thin material used for the tongue on the new 9's. Strangely, the size sticker moved from the tongue to the inside heel wall. The fabric on the upper is a different thinner mesh material that my 8's had, also contributing to a roomier feeling. The sole appears to be a single piece of less flexible plastic whereas my 8's had three colors/pieces. I like the appearance of the ribbed rear cup and the two-tone upper. I probably would not have purchased these had I tried them on in the store, but after 3 weeks I think I will stick with them.

Really nice
10 April 2023

Really like the mono chromatic color way. It's understated, versatile and won't get dirty too easily but isn't as limiting as black. They are very comfortable for everyday active wear. I don't use them as a running shoe so much but walking, work out, family outings. I am not sure I would pay full price but on sale they were a great deal compared with a Hoka or On Cloud.

Too tight
19 August 2022

I had a pair of these after running through 5 pairs of Launch 8. These are too tight at the beginning of the toe box from the laces to the tip of the shoe, and after 400 miles they felt just as restrictive. It feels much more restrictive than the Launch 8. I like having a bit more room in the toe box, and these shoes are not it. Another brand did this same things a few years ago and I completely switched all of my shoes from them after they ruined an amazing shoe. I found another pair of Launch 8, but there are only so many old models to keep buying. I don't have a wide foot, so the wide shoe is far too wide and fits poorly. I ran about 50-60 miles in these a week.
