Plastic Fantastic all parts and the peddler is so light & flimsy your frightened it will break when you put pressure on it, that's if it doesn't flip over before you even get your foot on it. Needle threader almost useless and not expect it to last long with a bit of plastic toggle on it. You have to see week enough to thread the cotton thru a small hole in the plastic bobbin anyway so why bother with annoying needle threader.

It's a straight forward entry level machine under $300 and it came with a free extension table. No thread cutting or needle up or down. The flywheel has a notch marked on it which is handy to getting the needle to its highest point. I have ordered a generic zig zag foot with levelling button as I didn't like the J foot that came with it. If you were interested in getting into sewing but didn't want to spend more than $300 on a machine to try it out then this machine may be for you. I use it to take to classes and I can use a lot of my other brother feet on it. It makes a very neat stitch straight out the box. Make sure you get some extra needles if you don't have more at home. It also came with a twin needle which was great.

We have looked at several machines for my daughter to have as a first machine and this was the best choice by far. It has a lovely variety of stitches for her to use when she is wanting to be artistic with her creations but also simple enough for her not to get lost in the options that were available. I think we have made a super choice in purchasing this Brother Sewing Machine. She is has had many hours of creating on her new machine and has planned for many more to come, I only hope that Spotlight will be able to keep up with her demand on their fabric department.

Good sewing machine for beginner hobby sewer, easy to set up and operate. It comes with good number of accessories (different sewing foot, bobbin etc) to get started. The automatic needle threader is great too - makes needle threading very easy.
I have had the machine for a few months now. I love how easy it is to thread, replace the bobbin, and overall ease. I am a novice sewer and have only had crappy machines that have only discouraged me from sewing. This one has me inspired to try bigger and better things as it is so easy to use.
Great learners sewing machine, easy to use. The self threading needle is fantastic for those with vision difficulties. Very easy to change stitches and adjust. I had never sewn before using this machine but it’s ease of use has made me look like I’ve been at it for years. Highly recommend this machine.
Great machine, does everything I need it to and more, including sewing through multiple layers of heavy upholstery fabric. However, having the instruction manual on a DVD is a bit backwards as not many people have DVD players nowadays. A flash drive or You Tube link would be much better options. Would also prefer metal feet and bobbins rather than plastic, which seem a bit flimsy and I'm concerned they'll break pretty easily.
Great machine for the price - super easy to use, and great range of settings and accessories come with it. Perfect for beginners or experienced sewers. Only thing is the machine can find it hard to deal with thicker fabrics, and sometimes even thinner fabrics get stuck underneath in the bobbin. Otherwise love it - have used for hours on end with no issues.
I really like how easy it is to get going with this machine, and how easy it is to change stitches. I have only used my new machine a couple of times, but am thinking the buttonhole stitch needs some fine tuning - for which I will need to research, as it's not obvious. The casing is very lightweight (plastic) and does move a little. Also the motor is noisier (possibly because of the plastic casing). For the $$ spent, I am very happy with my choice. (I previously had the Brother Compel Ace - for 36 years)
I love this machine. It’s a good starting machine for a home sewer. It has a range of different sewing patterns but I did have to search online how to access the ‘higher’ patterns. It’s lightweight and easy to set up. Absolutely love my machine and I would recommend it to anyone starting out/intermediate.
