Overall I like this scanner/printer very much, except for 2 MAJOR flaws. 1) When you place a paper on the glass against the raised edges (to make it square) the scanner cuts off the edge of the print on the document by about 1/8 inch. To copy the entire document, you have to lay the paper away from the edges and try to make it square. I had the same problem with a previous Brother scanner. 2) Why does Brother think they have the right to tell me what to name my documents? In the Control Center under File Name Style, there is no option that lets me just put in the name I want; it requires that the name ALWAYS be appended with something else (date, counter, etc). The old software did not do this. I bought this printer about 10 days ago to replace my old (Canon Imagewriter) laser printer. The older printer was still working but was showing some signs of old age. I wanted a machine I could easily set up for wifi printing from my phone or iPad and the Brother MFC-L2750DW received good reviews. So far, I have been disappointed in my choice. It is not as sturdy as my old Canon, it was a pain to set up (it came with poor instructions so I searched for more information on YouTube), it has a tendency to misfeed and crumple pages using the bypass tray, and I have trouble getting documents to print after turning the machine off overnight. Was easy & quick to set up, picked up our wifi connection easily. I like that the paper tray holds 250 pages so I don't have to fill it often (still on the first fill up). Prints fast, and the text is dark. I love the color screen for performing functions and changing settings. I also appreciate the Brother iPrint&Scan utility on my computer which helps me see exactly how many pages I've printed and other status indicators. One minor complaint - after printing about 20 pages I got messages saying I needed a new toner cartridge although the cartridge showed it was still mostly full. There is a setting I found which turns off those messages, thank goodness. The costs per page on this printer (for ink and drum) is about 4.7 cents per page which is good. The printer prints and scans well. It's fast enough for what I do, and the print quality is great. Two things that I'm not a fan of, but they are manageable. One, the scanner door slams down at that last few inches from closing. So you can't just push it down from the top, you have to hold the bottom side of the lid and bring it down carefully. Two, I print a lot of checks. You can't just put a stack of checks in the input tray and expect the printer to magically feed the checks by itself like most printers. In fact, you have to hold each check like you would a New York slice of pizza and keep pressure on it until the feeder pulls it in and prints. If you don't do that, not only will it not feed the check into the printer, it will think there is a jam and you have ... MoreThe printer prints and scans well. I've seen other reviews stating that they keep getting jams even though there isn't one. This is the fix that I found, and it works every time, just got to keep pressure on it until it does its thing. Annoying, but I'm used to it now. Everything else about the printer is great.
This is my first new print in over a decade. Trusty old Samsung 2250 finally died and I decided to go Multi-Function.I didn’t want to spend a lot for an MFD, so I knew I wouldn’t get blazing speeds or commercial level functionality.Performance is great for the low volume needs we have (<50 pages printed per month) and I like being able to scan to PDF sent to email or my NAS. Double-side scans and printing is also nice to have at home since I’m WFH for good now.The only concern I have is that this devices only supports sending emails through Brother’s host. Love this multifunction printer. Double sided print, scan, copy, fax. Scans in color but all print is in B+W. Minor complaint is the software/driver installation is not user friendly. I downloaded the latest full driver/software package and installed per instructions. But printer did not show up in Windows Print/Scan settings. Eventually I got it to work but I don't see a Brother port in the port settings, and the Brother settings interface is missing...only the skimpy Windows settings interface, which is feature-poor. I do love iPrint/Scan, which has become an indispensable tool for my small business print/scan needs. Yes, I'd buy this printer again and highly recommend to my friends.
I have had good history with Brother printers, but this machine has been a disappointment. When it is working, it gives me sharp prints and copies. It scans, FAXes and prints faster than my old machine, but printing is inconsistent. Most of the time, it spits out documents right on schedule, but sometimes it does not print. I got an error message about not being able to add the current document to the print order, but printing has stalled without that error message also. I contacted chat support and someone helped me to download Airprint and iPrint&Scan, but they did not really solve my problem. I did find a work-around; I can save my document as a pdf and then use iPrint&Scan to get it to print. The other issue I have is that the machine has a Shortcuts option but I cannot find any information about how to create and use shortcuts. When it works, it works very well, but at this point I am disappointed. When I hit Print, I expect to have the document printed and I do not have that certainty yet.
I've been recommending Brother laser printers and multi-function machines to my clients for the past 25+ years; this machine is another in their long line of decently-priced, well-made workhorses. If you don't need color printing - and most business applications really don't - a Brother laser is the most cost-effective, reliable option in the small office/home office realm. If your office prints/copies tens of thousands of pages per month, don't buy this - lease one of those refrigerator-sized monsters and let the leasing company deal with maintenance. It's _almost_ as simple to set up as plugging in USB, and much more stable/reliable once it's set up.It's a monochrome (black/white) laser printer, but of course it scans in color; it's not designed for high-end photographic reproduction, but for business or Web work it's very good.If your office still needs to fax documents (hello, doctors!), this machine does it very well; Brother (via their Intellifax line) has a lot of experience making fax machines, and they haven't forgotten how. There are multiple configuration options in case you have to deal with a bad phone line or a weird, incompatible fax machine on the other end; on the other hand if you don't need to mess with that stuff, it Just Works.Still recommended after all these years.
I had a brother way back and generally it worked well and what I like about the printer was the technical support it provided. I had to call in a few times because of network connection issues and the scanner function not working properly. Tech support was able to assist me with that after a really long phone call. What I hated about the printer was the multipurpose paper feeder. I print a lot of labels and print on backside of a paper that was already printed. Problem was the labels. I could only use about halfway and when trying to reuse the rest, it would scrunch up the paper. As for envelopes, it never worked. It alwasy scrunched it up and made it useless. When the printer finally died after about 4-5 years, I replaced it with a B/W HP and a Color Canon (both laser). They both work flawlessly and the MP feeder works great with paper, labels and envelopes. What I don't like too much is the touch screen interface. It's too small for fingers and I prefer the actualy push buttons. Canon is a bit slower than the HP but still works well. When I needed another printer for another office, I decided to try this L2750DW as it seemed to be a good value with the toner package and though it now also uses the touchscreen interface, it also has the good old fashioned push buttons for numbers. Installation for one of the computers was fine but my newer computer couldn't find the printer. I called in tech support and somehow it found a printer when I tried again. BUT again the MP tray cannot handle any papers! Whenever I try to print from that feeder, it says there's a jam even though there's nothing there. I have clear it every time and it jams again. I can't believe after all these years, Brother still hasn't address this known issue. Yes, it was a known issue, cause many reviewers had complained about this same thing in my old model. Surprised nobody has complained abou this yet. Or maybe not many people use this function.Anyways, I'm not going to stick with this issue for the next several years and will be replacing it with a Canon as it's currently on sale. I really wanted keep the brother for the lifetime technical support but I didn't even have to call tech support for the HP and Canon...
