Vermiculite is smaller than I expected.
I don't really understand what this stuff does but seems ok. Does not miraculously save plants from the black thumb of death but to be fair that's a bit much to expect.
Perfect for making soil-less soil mixed with coir peat for indoor plants available in an XL size bag. No annoying gnats after changing over to soil-less soil.
Vermiculite is essential in my soil "recipe" for succulents, cacti, bonsai & lithops. So it made sense to buy in bulk. It's much cheaper.
Firstly I was surprised at how super-light the bag is, in some ways reminds me of a bag of polystyrene balls. Whilst not as effective as mulch it does have some helpful moisture containment. Since Vermiculate is also used for insulation, it should also help protect the soil surface from very high or low temperatures if it is multi-layered. Don’t use in a windy location if using over pot’s surface layer. I ordered online and collection was super easy and fast, excellent service.
