Amazing boots. At first, the boots felt really tight and uncomfortable but after about 5 days use, they are a perfect fit. Comfortable, secure, easily adjustable and great design. As advised by staff at Melbourne Snowboard Cntr, the boots molded to my feet after regular use and getting the boot size the same as your regular street shoe size was the best decision. Any larger, they would feel too big. You just have to bare with the uncomfortableness for a few days!Great product and service! :)

These are great boots! Unfortunately I had to return because I ordered a 1/2 size too large for my feet. Measure your feet, and go with the length of your feet in millimeters for sizing reference. You may think you are ordering too small, but trust the size! My feet measure 275mm and I should have gone with a 9.5US instead of a 10US.Fortunately, Altitude has a great return policy! I will be back to shop more!

Overall really nice boot. Took a while for my right foot to fit right, probably a personal issue??, but now they are super comfy and warm. They have really good support and fairly stiff which I like because most of my riding is fast and steep freeride type stuff but it's not too stiff for poking out a grab on a big ol cheese wedge. Really like the vibram soles too for riding sleds as the running boards will eat through regular sole boots. I do wish the wide version had the option of speed lace instead of the boa. I've had the boa spindle pop out on me a few times now. It's easy to pop back in but it's pretty annoying that they fall out, just hoping I don't get stuck in a situation where it actually breaks far from base area.

If you can fit into a Burton boot and like to hit the park as well as the entire mountain you should definitely consider this boot. Like any boots, these do get soft after about 50-60 days and by day 60ish they are probably no longer a medium stiff boot but almost a soft boot. The reason why I'm sticking with the Photons again is that prior to this boot, I did not understand what the true meaning of heel hold was. That side BOA does a great job of closing the boot around your entire foot (including the back of your ankle).Another boot to consider if you want something stiff from Burton is the Ion. The two reasons why I ended up with the Photons again vs the Ions are:- 1 was the price. For the same price of a Ion BOA, you can almost get 2 photons. The two reasons why I ended up with the Photons again vs the Ions are:- 1 was the price. For the same price of a Ion BOA, you can almost get 2 photons. My boots usually wear out after 2 seasons and regardless of how stiff the Ions are, I just cannot see it lasting 4 years vs the 2 years I get out of my Photons.-2 was the weight. These are SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than the Ions. They are a much better park boot than the Ions for me. I can lay my weight over nose/tail and tweak things out a lot more without the board overreacting. Conclusion:If you like to ride all-mtn and also like the ride the park, then this is probably the perfect mix. If you don't care about the park and just want a stiff boot that can charge then go with the Ion (if you don't mind shelling out a few extra benjis).
I chose the product because I was looking for a versatile boot for allmountain riding and also splitboarding. I mostly ride freeride and piste, but sometimes park as well. So my boot needed to be stiff, but not too much. I was also looking for a boot with boa lacing, so I can adjust them on-the-go. I tried on size 45 and size 44.5 EU, and found out that they fit perfectly in the 44.5 size, which is my normal shoe size. A good Vibram sole is also important to me to give me grip when hiking in the mountains.I tested the boots for a couple of weeks, I rode on slopes, in the backcountry and went splitboarding with them. They were comfortable from the very beginning, the added adjustability of the double boa meant I could tighten or loosen them whenever I saw fit. They were comfortable from the very beginning, the added adjustability of the double boa meant I could tighten or loosen them whenever I saw fit. They also held up wonderful while splitboarding, I like the fact that they are a bit reinforced on the sides to prevent boot damage and you can quickly switch between walking and riding due to the boa lacing. Another feature I like is the side boa, which really pulls your heel into the boot when needed, for example on aggresive fast runs down the hill. The Vibram sole helps you get grip on icy surfaces, it helped us push our car out of the snow for example. I have not yet found any problems with the boot.To sum it up, this is a boot you can wear for every day on the mountain, you cant go wrong with it. I would recommend it for riders, who are searching for an allmountain boot, it is a bit on the stiff side so only park riders would need to go for a softer boot.
In my search for new boots, everyone seemed to love this boot so I ordered a size 11 which is also what size casual shoes I wear. I would say that it's slightly tight/snug around my foot, I've never been a "wide" boot customer, but not too bad. The length has my big toe brushing against nose of boot. Lacing system seems good etc. but the worst part is how unbearably uncomfortable the heel cushions are. No one seems to mention this, but the heel of the boot has two cushions which your Achilles/heel is supposed to nest in for support. Just walking around in these boots in my house (with snowboard socks) on is so uncomfortable, there's no doubt I would get blisters from my sock rubbing up and down against my skin from these cushions. Just walking around in these boots in my house (with snowboard socks) on is so uncomfortable, there's no doubt I would get blisters from my sock rubbing up and down against my skin from these cushions. I couldn't even try them out on the mountain because they were already so uncomfortable in a casual setting. Other than that, I think everything else about the boot is well constructed, I just can't stand the heel cushions.
These boots are heat moldable which is awesome. They were very comfortable before heat molding and only got more comfortable after the heat molding. I wear a size 11.5 US in other brand boots and the 11.5 Photons fit the same. These are my first pair of boa boots, and lemme tell you I will never go back to laces. These things are super convenient to tighten and hold the tight/firm feel after numerous runs. I would def purchase these boots again in the future but most likely will get many seasons out of them as Burton boots are very high quality and these are no different. Go get a pair, you won't be disappointed!
Great fit out of the box. Only boot I have ever found that fits 4E width. Lacing is decent but nothing special. Very comfortable boots until spring. In April, the fabric liner in heel wore through into foam while hiking. The foam and torn fabric ripped my heel open. Hiking frozen corn snow does create different wear points than riding or hiking in powder BUT I have been hiking backcountry for 30+ years and I have never had a boot that failed in 6 months. Very disappointing. Unfortunately after trying on several other "wide" models from other brands, the Photon is only boot that is wide enough so I'm buying again. This time, I'll be sending them back to Burton for warranty support if/when they fail.
I have had the same boots for 10 years and have gone through trying on quite a few women's boots before finally deciding to try some mens. These had great reviews so I tried them and LOVE them. I felt so confident in stiffer boots. They're comfortable, warm, and I love the inner lashing and double boa. My feet no longer go numb because I have to tighten my old boots so tight to keep my heel down. The heel cup is the only thing that's been hard to get used to but keeps my foot so secure. These are a great buy. The soles have a ton of grip and the boots fit nicely into my burton bindings too.
I actually owned the 2019 version of this boot and it saw a lot of use. I decided I wanted to go up a 1/2 size. I was banking on the boot breaking in a bit for more room. Turns out Burton makes quality products and this is not a thing like it was in the past with snowboarding boots. This boot really stayed true to size. For the first time ever, I purchased the same boot I already own. I have been riding since the early 90's, and I usually look for something new or different when I upgrade my boots. This Burton boot is wonderful. It really held up to the abuse from my bindings being taken on and off. Most boots will start to wear pretty noticeably on the rear foot from the constant on and off. I reside in the midwest, so these boots have seen many cold days and lots of short runs. As well, a few trips out west to get my fill of the real mountains. They worked flawlessly for all of these applications. I have had a few BOA boots over the years from other brands. There were some great ones in there, but this boot is really next level. It is well built, comfortable and zero slop. Well done Burton.
