I love these boots, and I have owned some terrible and wonderful boots over the years. I'm am east coast riding, so I'm half dead in my mid-30's, from taking hits in the LACK of pow haha. These boots keep me well supported while riding in a variety of conditions. While they are (maybe) unsuitable for an absolute beginner and certainly no good for a pro, hitting huge gaps and needing ultra-stiffness to make their setup precise enough for aggressive pipe-slaying, they are perfect for those that are not looking to get the gold metal in a big air comp. I don't think that you can currently do much better in this bracket. These are my first Boa boots, and Burton's warranty on all their Boa systems made me drastically more comfortable switching over. If you're riding all the time, you may have an older pair of boots laying around? Bring them in your trunk and Burton will fix the Boa system if it were to fail. Another thing that I believe is worth mentioning, is that there seems to be something missing with Burton's communication with its customers- as we have all started buying online, there is no one to reassert that the boots should be quite SNUG, at least when you when you first get them! They break in about a half a size with use- but only in all the right spots. I've been riding since the mid 90's and these are my favorite resort boots so far. I'm heading towards 40 and getting a bit less demanding of having the best of the best- therefore I didn't spend $500 plus on boots. The will suit 9 out of 10 all around riders, looking to do a bit of everything, without sacrificing comfort! As for size, I just bought my shoe size 10.5- I don't vary much on that, but for reference some shoes that I also wear in a 10.5 are Nike, Supra, Timberland, Reebok. These felt snug as I said, but as long as you can fit in without immediate discomfort from the sides, heal or toe, you should be all set👍

I've gone out a few times with the boot and I absolutely love them. The boots do run a little small. But it depends what you like. I tend to like my boots to run a little small, because I feel like I have more control. If you want the boots to fit like a street shoe, I'd recommend sizing up a 1/2 size. I have read online they will break in, so only time will tell.Beside the fit, I would 100% recommend this boot. The boa tightening system is the bee's knees. I get a great fit while snowboarding.

Need to replace my old Moto after a few seasons and decided on the Ruler. They are quite light, easy to put on, and close with the Boa system. The flex is indeed mid and feels just perfect for me. The boots deliver what is promised – perfect for advanced beginners and better casual riders, that for a good budget. They run true to size, so if you are in-between sizes, go with a half number larger. I have 26.6 Mondo and thought to take 26.5 (8.5) to have a snug fit, but my toes did hit hard in any position, even without socks. Now waiting for the 27.0 (9.0) which should fit perfectly.

Feels more stiff than the K2 Raiders but I love these for the fact that they do not hurt my ankles like the K2 Raiders do. This boot also wicks sweat way better than the K2 Raiders whose liners feel like a soggy mess at the end of the day. Double boa is great, heat reflective bottom is wonderful! Worth the extra money. This also comes in Size 6!
Have been rocking 20 yo Burton Hail snowboard boots (men's size 10 US) and decided to give the Ruler BOA a try. Picked them up at my local REI yesterday, took them home and tried them on. While they seem like a solid boot and everything the size 10 I ordered are too small. Really uncomfortable getting them on. Ordered a 10.5 so I'll update this review once I get the replacements.Update: The 10.5 Men's US are a winner.
I really want to like them as they look great but these boots are driving me crazy! I've been snowboarding since I was ~10 and am 32 now. I've exclusively owned Burton boots. I'm sorely overdue for a new pair, as my current Burton boots are pretty beat (probably 7-8 years old, honestly maybe closer to 10 - yikes). They are size 10.5. I've tried replacing them more than once, and have tried to stay true to Burton since I've always been happy with their products - I've got burton cartel bindings, etc. I'm not sure what happened, but I might have to try a new mfg. A few years ago I tried replacing my boots with the top of the line Burton Ion in size 10.5 - they gave me a weird/uncomfortable pressure point on my right ankle, so those were a no-go. A few years ago I tried replacing my boots with the top of the line Burton Ion in size 10.5 - they gave me a weird/uncomfortable pressure point on my right ankle, so those were a no-go. Back to the trusty old pair for another 2 seasons. Finally said 'man i really need to do something about new snowboard boots' and tried these. Ordered size 10.5 (current boots are burton 10.5 so logically should be good to go), WAY too small. Returned them, ordered size 11. This time the length is ok, but now I have a weird pressure point on the top of my right foot that seems minor while trying them on in the house, but I can tell would be extremely uncomfortable during a full day of riding - especially with any long toe-side traverses. This lacing system makes for easy on/easy off, but also kind of limits your ability to fine-tune tightness/looseness in certain areas. Glad if they work for you, but after trying two different sizes (and a failed attempt with Burton Ion boots 2 years ago) I think I'm abandoning Burton boots and trying a new mfg.
This board will take you into the treeline, over the drops and enter the powder with confidence! Great stability and has an impressive amount of pop to add to this impressive package. Despite lacking any side Magne-Traction the Hometown Hero cuts into the ice and delivers the grip you want without feeling like it wants to slip or toss you around. Very rainy here in Michigan when I took it down the slopes on my first runs with it.Very good set back stance right from the get, you can set your bindings back almost to the tip of the tail to really get over deep powder and give you a true surf feel as well and will charge with some force if you open it up, won't win any speed records but it does get up to speed well.Use a stiff binding for a perfect deck, this board ... It's a shame this family tree board will not be around long so GET THIS BOARD, you will not regret it and you'll find yourself giving it 5 stars yourself without thinking otherwise. Great job by Burton, Jake would be proud of this masterpiece.
I have E width feet. These wide Rulers fit perfect. I used to have the Highlines which just killed my feet. The outsoles feel thinner than other boots I've had. The flex is a solid medium?not too stiff not too soft. I really wanted stiff boots but decided to sacrifice a little stiffness in order to find a wide enough boot, which is so hard to find. Might work up to the Photons in wide but got such a great deal on sale on these Rulers.
The BOA lacing system made it incredibly easy to adjust the fit and get in and out of the boots quickly. The fit was extremely comfortable and snug, providing great support for my feet and ankles. The boots are true to size, making it easy to order the perfect fit. I found that the Ruler BOA Snowboard Boots are perfect for everyone, as the BOA system allows for easy adjustments and customization to your specific fit. The boots are true to size, and the fit is very comfortable. Overall, I would highly recommend the Ruler BOA Snowboard Boots to anyone looking for a high-quality, comfortable and easy to adjust boot for their next snowboarding adventure.
I ordered the Burton Ruler BOA in regular width (size 7) and the Burton Ruler (non BOA) in wide (Size 7) and the two boots are exactly the same width!! They are also not very wide to begin with, pretty average width for mens boots, probably a C or between a C and D width. Compared to Women's boots, Ride and K2 boots are the same width if not wider, and Burton men's boots are definitely wider than Burton women's boots. Maybe the width is wider for larger sizes but for size 7, the fit is identical! The instep seemed fine and I have slightly higher than average instep as well, though I didn't try the boots on for too long. The speed lace system also can never get the shin/calf tightness as tight and secure as the BOAs so I would definitely recommend the BOAs over the ... Evo rates the stiffness as a 6 and I would say they are similar or softer than the Ride Hera which they rate as a 5. Then again they rated the K2 kinsley as a 3 and I would say those are also a 5. The Burton Ruler I would rate as medium stiff or slightly softer than medium stiffness. Perhaps a 4.
