Love the color and the quality of the boot for sure. The customer service on the other hand is what will make this purchase memorable. Bought these because I didn't like the performance of the Flows that I had previously purchased. Chat Online care turning into Red Carpet service with quick responses and great communication which got me a return in turn making this purchase. THEN visiting the Denver location while in town and had them heat molded along with insole recommendations. Super Happy with the experience.

Fit a bit different that non-SO Photons. A little more snug by my pinky toe (where the cleat is), but so far it seems to work. No getting the hotspot people complained about in previous generations (judging by other reviews/comments, this seems to have been addressed). Also a little more volume above my forefoot than my old photons.Be VERY careful about fit. Boots are the most important part of your setup (imo), and they're even MORE important with Step Ons. I recommend getting educated on proper fit, if you're not already. I ended up with a size above what Burton recommended based on mondopoint — but I also have weird feet.

I have been snowboarding for almost ten years and have never tried Burton Step Ons before. The main concern I had was that the bindings were going to feel loose and be unresponsive. After testing them out, I realized I was completely wrong. The Burton Photon and the Step On bindings were very stiff and super responsive- just the way I like my set up. The step on's felt very secure and rode like normal pair of boots and bindings. I spend a couple runs doing some aggressive turns trying to put the step ons to the test, but they never budged! It was an awesome feeling being able to roll of the chairlift and just step on and go without ever stopping! I 100% recommend the Burton Step Ons. One downside with the Quick Pull system and the Photons specifically is that there’s a lot going on and when the boot is all the way undone, with wires going everywhere. They make it easy to store the laces after the boot is done up or when you’re ready to put them away, so it’s only a problem if you’re tired/lazy and don’t put the boots away properly.

Great Setup for Young and Old Alike
7 January 2022

As a 50+ year old rider who has been doing this since his 20's, I love my Step-Ons! They are responsive, super comfortable, and the system just plain works. And of course no more sitting on my soft tush strapping in - that's for young sissies. Off the lift and go! Now if you were thinking Step-Ons are only for old people, my 17 year old got a setup for Christmas, and he's hooked. Once he figured out these Photon boots are stiff enough you don't have to crank down the Boas like a tourniquet, he's sold on these super comfortable boots.

Great boots
18 April 2022

Super great boots. Personally I like reletively soft boot, I do park and all mountain, hit (double and even triple) diamond, side hits, natural dorp/jumps, grabing 180/360s on midium jumps. Basically I do every thing. The ruler boots are great, they provide enough response on the slopes and when loose them a little bit they give me tolerance in park. The best thing I like is I just need a step and push a little after getting off the lift before start riding.

This is my 2nd pair. The 1st pair are still in great condition. Went up half a size because my toes would get sore after a few days of riding. No complaints. Never had an issues with my bindings or boots getting loose. #sweepstakes

Never Strapping in again.

Background, Used to snowboard as a kid n early teens many moons ago. Fast forward to me at 33yo trying to pick up snowboarding again and failing so hard my butt is paying for it, literally. I rented normal shoes last year and was pretty disgusted with myself at how many times I had to unstrap from getting stuck on greens. HELLO STEP ONS! I found myself waiting at the bottom of the hill and at the top of the mountain for my friends to strap in and I never had to sit once to get going. Even after stalling I'd quickly step out, give a lil push and step right back in. It feels no different to me than normal bindings n shoes. The insoles that came with the boots were high quality and didnt need to be replaced with custom ones since it fit so perfectly to my feet ... MoreBackground, Used to snowboard as a kid n early teens many moons ago. Tossed the thermal liner into the oven at 200degrees for 15min and after molding they fit like a glove. Highly recommended shoe!

Stiff, comfy, and easy to setup!
12 March 2023

I love these boots so much! The boas and quick pull setup make tying up an easy and painless task. No fiddling with laces in the cold anymore. The insoles that come with are incredibly well built and also very supportive, plus they dry very fast!!!The boot itself is really stiff which is what I was looking for. They were comfortable the first day I took them out, and are getting more and more comfy every ride. The wide model really helped me have enough room in the front.

Such a great boot
12 June 2023

I've had the Burton Ion step ons for the last few years. While they've been the best fitting boot I've had (5th boot) I felt that the toe could've had a little more room after 6-7 days straight on the slopes.Combine that with also wanting slightly less stiff boots (the Ion's had very little give), I thought I'd try the Photon wides. While I haven't taken them up the mountain yet but have worn them all day at home. Exactly what I wanted - A wider front, stiff but not so stiff and painless/numb-free after a day walking around in them at home.

This setup changed my snowboarding experience
9 March 2022

For the 1st time I tried the Burton step on boots and bindings on the slope. It was just perfect. Extremely fast and easy stepping in and out. Very responsive combination, better than any bindings with straps I had tried. The boots get locked in the binding very perfectly, as if they are just one unit. And to the Photon boots, they are very stiff but also comfortable. The foam inside shapes to your feet. After about one hour, they feel comfprtable but also holding so tightly that there is no room for your ankle to move loosely.I could really not expect better!
