Coffee has a long history; it is believed to have first been discovered in Ethiopia in the 8th century and soon after introduced to the Arab world. Initially used as a medicine, coffee has become a major part of daily culture. Known as “kahweh” in the Middle Eastern, coffee is widely consumed in Lebanon and commonly served to welcome visitors. The coffee is poured out in front of the guest from a coffee pot (rakweh) and served in small round cups.Café Najjar is considered Lebanon’s leading coffee. Beginning in 1957 as a small artisanal roaster in Beirut, has gone on to become a leading coffee company and is exported business to 48 countries worldwide.
