I had originally purchased a more exensive unit from a different brand, that unit failed when the Apple power adapter was plugged into the PD input port within hours of using it. This unit was less expensive, provided a removable cable that was long enough to situate it on the desk in an advantageous spot. Even seems to support 1440p/120Hz over HDMI. Happy with it.

This is light, compact, has just the right number of ports for most use cases, is fast and supports 4k/60, and is strongly built. Has never accidentally dismounted one of my drives. Passes good power to my RME interface. Not cheap, but worth it.

This is light, compact, has just the right number of ports for most use cases, is fast and supports 4k/60, and is strongly built. Has never accidentally dismounted one of my drives. Passes good power to my RME interface. Not cheap, but worth it.
It's compact, yet still has a fair amount of ports for its size. I did run into one issue, but it may have been my computer's or monitor's fault. I had 2 monitors, connected one via DisplayPort and one via HDMI. One of them wouldn't show up. So, since both monitors supported both DP and HDMI, I switched them and then they showed up.
Perfect fit for my situation, Mac only has 2 ports and this meets all my needs and the pass through charging is great.
This does a good job of giving me access to a lot of ports on a Mac laptop I use for work, but I should have done more research on the CalDigit site. It does not support two monitors on Mac which is what I wanted it for really so I could have less stuff plugged in on the laptop. For the price though it still provides some value but I'll have to upgrade to something bigger to get that functionality.
Not a bad docking station only been using a couple days. The HDMI and display port will both work at that same time with two monitors but I haven't been able to get them to be independent they mirror eachother when I try and use my MacBook at the same time so I end up just using the display port and the HDMI input on my MBP. Also after I started using the display port, the USB mouse stopped working.. need a few more days to work out the kinks but it's probably user error. It's a solid built unit the rubber feet are appreciated.
It lets you charge a tab and a digital camera thru usb~c and iPad.It lets you transfer videos through usb-c to external hard drive.The usb a port allows you to plug in flash drive.It's definitely worth the money.
Works well, no issues.
