This one appealed to me because it would give me a nice spread on the waveform monitor so I could get my gamma correct, and would let me dial in the vector scope as well with primary and secondary colors.I put it to the test tonight color balancing and older Sony 1080p camera against a BlackMagic recording in RAW. I have NEVER gotten my colors to lock together as well as these did tonight in Resolve. I know I could have done it with a Chroma du Monde chart, but that would have been literally 10x the price.VERY pleased with this chart, and it seems that they are now packaging it with protectors front and rear to resolve the issues that were mentioned in the 2017 ... A crucial piece of kit for a multi-camera shoot, especially if you are using different cameras. I already owned the photo version so why did I purchase this video version? It has the precise colour patches used by colour scopes. Not just red, green & blue, but magenta, green, yellow & cyan. Dialling your image in to hit those scope points is what is going to give you an even start, even if you don't want to style a further look.

I first purchased the grey scale card which arrived defective with the plastic sleeve stuck to the grey areas. So I returned it for exchange, the second one came exactly the same. So I returned it for a refund. I decided to go with this Colorchecker Video card hoping it would be fine, but no such luck. Same issue, plastic stuck to the grey areas leaving very distinct shiny areas and swirls (see photo). I think Xrite has a quality control issue on their hands. I am returning this (third) one yet again for a refund. I have contacted Xrite head office in regards to this issue. I have wasted 3 months (live in Canada) of back and forth not to mention my time in repackaging and so forth, still without a colorchecker. My advice is to go with another product until Xrite can ... If you want to use it in Resolve with the automated tools for color correction make sure that no fingers get in the way of the swatches.I have noticed two things about the card. One, is that it the card isn't super rigid so store it someplace it won't get bent. Two, the black swatch in the gray exposure scale (the four long bars in the middle of the card) can be pretty reflective from some angles so it may take a little bit of repositioning the card to get it right. You will still need to do some work to get them to match suitably, but this will take you a long way toward getting that match.
The product is a good size for our use case. It is a great product once you do additional research to learn how to use properly. As a novice trying to understand how to best use, it provides no documentation which is annoying. It doesn't even tell you what the center exposure bars should be.
These are essential, and the bigger sizes are amazing. This size is perfect to throw in a travel bag (don't put it next to a hot computer).COMPLICATED: You're supposed to keep them packed away from light and air, but it comes with a cumbersome plastic sleeve that goes into another paper sleeve. Nobody looks respectable fumbling about while trying to get these things out or put away in a hurry. Hey Calibrite - How about something easier to use, yeah?
I purchased this product as a more portable solution to the DSC ChromaDuMonde chart . Having used the DSC chart for years I was impressed with the results on air after painting cameras with the Calibrite . They are of course different products and need to be used in different ways when using waveform and vector scopes but all in all I would give this product a 4.5 star rating . My only complaint is I wish that it came in a better sleeve than the cardboard one . Well worth the money to purchase for both Pro and prosumer use .
Nothing wrong with the product itself but I find that we just don't use it. I think that part of the reason is the way it feels in your Hand. The colored squares on the front are almost film like and feel like if I grabbed them the wrong way that I could damage the product. I don't know if that is true but that is how I feel. I think it would be great for camera matching and stuff like that and we bought it because it interfaces with CinemaGrade but I wish we used it more often. Mostly I keep it in the cardboard case that it came in because it scares me.
Had this for a week and took it out of its box today and saw that it its warped which would clearly give inaccurate readings. It is stored laying flat in its original packaging on a flat surface! For the price this is very poor indeed.
This is an important item for setting white balance and aiding the post-production process, especially when matching a multi-camera shoot. I like the large size and orientation of color chips.It's not cheap, but considering the time it saves color/exposure matching in post, it's worth it.For storage, I place this inside a cheap plastic clipboard that has a storage compartment. It fits perfectly, and travels with call sheets, scripts, etc.The only issue I have with this product is remembering to use it for every shoot. That's on me, of course. YMMV
