I Received this 10 piece Signature stainless set two weeks ago. Everything sticks and it’s virtually impossible to clean. It’s like there’s some sort of clear coating on it that melts when you cook and it’s impossible to come off. I’m now trying to send the set back, but this seems to be even more difficult than cleaning the pan.

Recently Calphalon sent me a set of their new line of stainless steel cookware for review purposes. I’m a food blogger and spend a great deal of time in the kitchen, so I was really able to put them through their paces. There is a lot to love about these pans.Since they’re oven safe I can go from stovetop to oven to tabletop with the same pan, which cuts down on the amount of dishes I need to wash. Plus the pans are lightweight and evenly balanced, so using them doesn’t leave me feeling like I’d spent an hour at the gym. Although if you use your cookware for your daily workout you may hate how lightweight they are (and if you do, we should probably have a chat because there really are much better ways to get perfectly toned arms.)They do have a bit of a ... MoreRecently Calphalon sent me a set of their new line of stainless steel cookware for review purposes. Although if you use your cookware for your daily workout you may hate how lightweight they are (and if you do, we should probably have a chat because there really are much better ways to get perfectly toned arms.)They do have a bit of a learning curve, especially if you’re accustomed to cooking with non-stick. You’ll want to preheat your pan first and avoid the temptation of using high-heat for this step, it will cause your pan to heat unevenly and your food will stick. Make sure to use a small amount of butter or olive oil before you add your food to the pan, but not PAM as it will leave a sticky coating on your cookware and make cleanup more difficult. I highly recommend reading the use and care instructions before you start cooking as they give a lot of great advice and will help you avoid some of the common challenges when you switch from non-stick to stainless steel. My only real complaint about this set comes down to size. I find some of the pans too small for my cooking style—I’ve hardly used the 8 inch omelette pan or the 2 quart saucepan. I feel like they’re much better suited to someone who is cooking for 1 or 2, they just aren’t large enough to feed my hungry hoard. I really wish Calphalon offered a set that included a 4 or 5 quart pan (perhaps the chef’s pan or sauteuse) instead of these smaller pans.Disclosure: A full set of cookware was provided to me free of charge for review purposes. As always, all opinions both positive and negative are my own.

I've been looking for a heavy set of cooking ware for months and this one popped up at a great sale price. I've started cooking more since we are home all the time and I needed something that was thicker and heavier to provide that slow cook nuance. As I unpacked these and especially once I started using these, you can tell the quality and it definitely does make a difference when cooking as well. My food is coming out better and having a lot less "burning" episodes. It makes a difference even if you are not the best cook like me. I know some people might not like cleaning the non-stick set but it's not really even an issue with these because of the quality. I routinely cook eggs and omelets and cleanup is not a problem and it's so much safer than the non-stick ... MoreI've been looking for a heavy set of cooking ware for months and this one popped up at a great sale price. I primarily cook with cast iron (old pieces I find and restore) but realized I needed high quality stainless steel pans too. I spent hours researching and went to BBB to purchase All-Clad. I was really disappointed when I picked them up. They were very uncomfortable to hold. I can't say the handles were "sharp" but they didn't have a natural feeling and hurt to hold. I realized it would be even more uncomfortable with food added. The local BBB store had this set on clearance for $419. I read the reviews and people were very happy with them. The handles were really comfortable to hold and the lids were clear, something that became important to me after looking at different sets in person. With the 20% off coupon and the store added the 12-inch everyday pan (a nearly $200) pan for free, I couldn't go wrong. And I received a $50 in-store gift card too. I also like that these are 5-ply versus the 3-ply All-Clad. The BBB representative said Calphalon is great at honoring warranty issues too. One recommendation for future sets, add a measurement scale on the inside. I thought this was a very nice feature on some of the other brands that I looked at.
Initially I had the Analon/nonstick set, I recieved as a gift in November 2016. I wrote a positive review for the 10 piece set, my opinion has since changed. Being a home cook, quality and performance means a lot to me and it affects my abilities and the outcome of finished food. 9 months into use I noticed some marring of the nonstick along with some minor flaking, chips and scratches in the coating. Calphalon told me that would be normal. I DO NOT like that and WILL NOT live with that. My utensils are silicone, plastic, wood and some are even the Calphalon brand. I Hand wash with Dawn dish soap and a fabric scrubber. A couple times I did put pieces in the dishwasher to experiment and those were the pieces that seemed to show the issues mentioned above. I Hand wash with Dawn dish soap and a fabric scrubber. A couple times I did put pieces in the dishwasher to experiment and those were the pieces that seemed to show the issues mentioned above. Calphalon states dishwasher, metal utensil safe, I do not recommend it for either set, my preference. Plus the Analon/non-stick coating always had spots or chalky residue while all other dishes never have had spot problems. Spotting/residue only occurred during the heated dry cycle, if I intercepted to towel dry, no spots. My preference is Finish Powerball "All in One" tablets with Jet Dry. Dissatisfied I called Macy's, they were willing to accept them back, the whole set even my additional pieces I paid cash for and could not find the receipt. I called Calphalon for more information. Spoke with a CSR, I was not happy. Calphalon worked with me and I requested the Signature Stainless Steel line for a replacement, I DID NOT want non-stick anymore. Calphalon swapped my whole set even the additional pieces outside of the 10 piece set. Some pieces between the two sets did not have matching pieces and Calphalon worked with me to give a suitable replacement of my choice. Of course it was a process but well worth it and they made it hassle free for my time and convenience. The Signature Stainless Steel is far more superior in my opinion and just as good as some of the other brands that are twice the price. These pots and pans have improved my cooking and make it a more enjoyable experience. They work fantastic on my glass stove. I use Pam/butter and preheat on low, works great. Sometimes I just wipe the cooking residue off and pan is good as new. They can be "seasoned" in a way similar to cast iron I've read. I wash them by hand with blue Dawn (I prefer handles and crevices to be washed frequently) occasionally some Bar Keepers Stainless Cleaner with a fabric scrubber. When food sticks like cheese in a sauce I use a plastic scrubber with hot water on the residue. They look great, clean up nice. This set does require some maintenance and fairly heavy yet well worth the effort for a superior product that delivers satisfactory results everytime. This is now my lifetime set. Many thanks to Macy's for working with me intitially to make a return however Calphalon stood behind their product and listened to my concerns and my wish to switch over from non-stick to Stainless Steel. I would highly recommend Calphalon on the Signature Stainless set even over the pricier brands. This is a GREAT value. Calphalon and Macy's has a loyal customer here. Sorry for the long review, I wanted to be thorough. Many thanks to Macy's and Calphalon for the security and confidence by standing with this customer. Hope this helps, thanks again!
I'm not a professional chef, nor would I call myself a "home cook". I cook at home, sure, but i don't do it for a living. I've always liked quality and i got a chance to see this set in person at my local grocery store. I was immediately impressed by the construction and heft of the products. I purchased a set online back in January 2020 and have been genuinely satisfied with their use for the past 2 years. Glad I got them when I did because i was completely unaware of just how often i would use them throughout that year. They've held up well with proper care and at this rate they feel like they'll last a lifetime. My only complaint is the lid design, while beautiful, the recessed glass tends to build up water in-between the glass and metal leaving calcified residue ... MoreI'm not a professional chef, nor would I call myself a "home cook". I hand wash all my pots and pans, and this is something I've noticed with all the lids. I've since dried all the lids immediately after washing, but it's something to note.
I had been wanting a good set of Stainless Steel pans, but was really biased because of some reviews I had read. When I received these pans and used them one time, I realized that most people don't know how to cook in a good stainless pan. These pans are awesome, heat evenly, and clean so easily, better so than some non stick pans I've used in the past. I was so pleased with the set, that I ended up buying additional saucepans, the large, deep frying pan, and the stock pot as well. I cannot stress just how good they cook-the entire bottom heats evenly, and I've had no issues with sticking. The pans clean beautifully with a sponge or brillo, and while they are dishwasher safe, I find it easier just to clean them by hand, and save the room in my dishwasher. If i had to sum it up... they heat up fast and fair...evenly. they will work a life time and still look good, if taken care of (my educated guess)...These are hands down the best pans i have even looked at. The best i have cooked with.I will tell you why.First of all i want to discuss the covers because there seems to be some confusion, and that made me think maybe these pans aren't perfect.... they are.For me a cover keeps steam in. The only way to do that is by fitting on the pot. It does not need to be fitted. Just keep the steam in. These covers fit multiple pots and pans while keeping the steam in. They may appear loose if someone is used to the old school covers that lock in place....however i tried three things to test the steam. One is double ... MoreIf i had to sum it up... they heat up fast and fair...evenly. they will work a life time and still look good, if taken care of (my educated guess)...These are hands down the best pans i have even looked at. They may appear loose if someone is used to the old school covers that lock in place....however i tried three things to test the steam. One is double cooked rice. Notorious for being ruined when air gets into the pot. The rice came out perfectly. No issues.I made fried chicken...no you don't cover it constant but i do prior to flipping it to ensure the inside is not raw, without compromising texture. The steam went onto the cover as water droplets which stayed until i lifted the cover and took them away. The other way i tested was not with food...i simply boiled water and looked to see if steam escaped with the lid on. It did not.In addition, they are made with quality you can see and feel. They are heavier the you would guess looking at them. They're beautifully designed. And They heat evenly. With my old set....i would have to move the pan on the burner...always thinking my stove top cooked unevenly. Now i see it was not my stove...it was the pots and pans.I place the pan or pot on the burner and i can see the heat through the liquid dispersed evenly. The little bubbles at the start of the boil.. they are consistently every where.Clean up is easy. Dishwasher safe
I absolutely love the Calphalon Signature Stainless 10 PC set. Took a short time to master stainless cooking again but now I would not take anything for this outstanding cookware. It performs exceptionally and cleans up like a breeze! I actually put the set in my will for my daughter in law to have. Expensive? yes... worth every cent? Absolutely! This is truly the last cookware you will ever have to buy!
My family gifted this set to me about 10 years ago. It is wonderful to use and does clean up well. It is not non-stick so soaking is needed for some dishes. My only issue is that because it is 5 layers, (which is great for heat distribution ) it is heavy, not quite as heave as cast iron but... still need two hands for some pans. I do not use the "big" soup pan as it is just too small to be of any use. all the skillets are great as are the sauce pans. however. It is HEAVY. My large skillet has become discolored and I am not sure why. The other pans are still beautiful.
