The Cambridge Audio Minx Min 22 is a small speaker with a large sound. The BMR driver in the satellite speaker gives you a wide sonic images and clear sounds. For a speaker that's only just bigger than a can of soda, it has a lot of power. This makes the speaker suitable for powerful AV-amplifiers and for use in small to mid-sized rooms. The Minx Min 12 doesn't have a woofer for bass tones, so you can use the Minx Min 22 as part of a Minx surround set with a subwoofer. This allows you to enjoy a spacious movie sound without having to cram the room full of big speakers.

I was truly shocked about the quality of the min12, I expected decent quality as it’s a Cambridge audio product and I was not disappointed.Im using as PC speakers (through a NAD D3020), and the sound is crystal clear, bass lacking but if you are expecting that from a speaker of this size then I’m not sure it will exist in the market (but a small sub would add what is needed).I can see why these are used in restricted space 5.1 set up, definitely work well with a USB DAC to a PC and the audio quality is good enough to use in a small 2.1 arrangement too.Banana plugs css ash be used by removing the connector fully from the back of the speaker (with a little bit of force), this was a massive bonus and again a feature hard to find on small form speaker.

I set up my stereo in a smaller room and had no place to fit my larger Bose speakers. So I bought a pair of these and ran them off a subwoofer. They sound fantastic, I was really surprised how great the sound is. Don't be fooled by the size, they really do punch above their weight!I purchased the desk stands as well and they go great with these little guys. The connections are very nice too, I would recommend getting some spade-type connectors for your speaker as the small size can be a bit fussy. If you got a small space, definitely buy these, put 'em in front your face, and kick back like the Maxell Man, blasting your favourite LP until the wife yells at you.

The Cambridge Audio Minx 12 is good at what it does. A small and nice looking satellite speaker with good sound for the size in the mid to high range. It does lack bass though, but that is to be expected from a speaker that's so compact. I decided it wasn't quite right for me and opted for some Minx 22s instead. As usual no problems with customer service from Richer Sounds and the Minx 12 is being returned to store for a full refund. Ordering some Minx 22s instead via telesales was nice and easy.If you want a bit more from your satellite speakers or are using these as discrete HiFi speakers in a small to medium room I'd go for the Minx 22s. I purchased five (5) Audio Minx Min 12 speakers together with an Audio Minx X201 sub-woofer as a 5.1 Speaker Pack to replace existing stereo speakers used with my home cinema system. The choice was a compromise between cost, size, build and sound quality, unfortunately with cost and size being the major drivers. I have reviewed the speakers individually and not as a package because I believe they would enhance most system on their own merits. The Min 12 speaker is a well engineered small cube, attractive to the point of non-intrusive, but weighty enough not to go walkabout at increased volume. Their sound quality is neither too sharp to be shrill or too mellow to be bland, but well balance across a wide genres of music and film. Their sound quality is neither too sharp to be shrill or too mellow to be bland, but well balance across a wide genres of music and film. These speakers are probably best suited for the small/medium size room, and do need a sub-woofer to provide the bottom end however other than in a package as purchased are also worthy of consideration to expand an existing speaker system.Siting speakers can become a pain particularly with small children about however the Mini 12’s which have both screw and banana plug connections can be easily disconnected and placed out of reach until tranquillity is restored. Small mounting brackets are provisioned with the speakers and a variety of mounting stands are available for purchased separately.Because of my age I probably like others have associated small speakers with 60’s record players and portable radios, under the misapprehension that speakers have to be large to provide quality however technology has moved on without us and that’s no longer the case. These speakers may not be for the purist but are well made and good value in terms of sound quality and money. Digital music again sounds vibrant and film soundtracks have greater width and depth, unfortunately they do little for the scratches on my old vinyl or the hissing on my few remaining cassettes. Deservedly recommended.
I bought these Minx 12 satellite speakers to add rear surround to my system, making it 7.0 (I don't have a sub because my front L&R are big floorstanding speakers with plenty of low end response). For such small units, they have a nice tonal balance with smooth yet detailed treble, which was very welcome. I was a little nervous that due to their size, they might be a bit "tinny" sounding. My fears were not realised, I'm pleased to say.The binding post terminals on the back of the speakers are actually banana plugs, which can be removed if you wish to use pre-terminated cables, which I think is a very nice design choice made by Cambridge Audio.
Bought a pair of these in white (along with a X201 sub) to replace an old Bose Lifestyle satellite/sub system from the year of the flood. The sound of the Min 12's is far and away better than the speakers they replaced.I listen to a lot of jazz via Internet Radio and my music library. Compared to the Min 12's, my old speakers sounded mushy, and they were good speakers in their day. On small combo tracks the piano shimmers, the horns are smooth, the vocals are pristine, and everything sounds almost like the musicians are in my living room.I should add that I also bought a new amp (not Cambridge) which I believe also contributes to the improved sound of my new system. But, it's still the speakers that make the sound and these are excellent.
For the last 10 years I've had a receiver and never really got great surround sound, despite using some floor standers and large centre speaker coupled with rear satellite speakers. The challenge: My sofa is against the wall and the rear satellites are attached to that wall. I needed speakers that I could mount, with a bracket that could swivel 90 degrees to point towards where I'm sat when watching TV.Solution - these little cubes from CA.I am very impressed with their sound for their size. They far exceed my expectations; the sound is very detailed and immersing. I'm watching a few series on a Movie Streaming service and these make all the difference!Tip: If you're in the same situation as me, mount the brackets on something (in my case MDF), that will give ... MoreFor the last 10 years I've had a receiver and never really got great surround sound, despite using some floor standers and large centre speaker coupled with rear satellite speakers. The challenge: My sofa is against the wall and the rear satellites are attached to that wall. The MIN 12's are very good compact speakers but reserving a full five stars due to crackling. This may be AV set-up rather than the speakers so further investigtion required. The connections are clever as they will take exisiting banana plugs, spades or bare wire but there is a design issue here. The nut is knurled but the stud side is very smooth so they are very difficult to tighten with finger tips as you can't get any grip. The result is the knurled nut comes loose. CA need to knurl both the nut and the stud sides otherwise careful use of pliers are required.
I've owned a 2+1 setup for a couple years. They are nice looking, very small and sound great. We use them mostly while watching TV but stream music through our amp as well. They do require a surprising amount of power to really shine. I originally had them hooked up to a compact high quality amp and they hardly worked. Now they are on another amp 55w/channel and are well broken in but definitely want more juice. We could hook it up to something bigger, they probably would work better, but we like being able to keep everything discreet in the system. These would make for a fantastic surround sound setup.
I needed reasonably decent speakers to play music from my computer but above all they had to be small. My home office is literally in a cupboard so space is absolutely at a premium. Two of these powered by a Denon PMA30 plus a powered subwoofer have done the job nicely. It all sounded OK with everything flat but obviously being sited in a cupboard is less than ideal. The sound really came to life when I put a (software) 31 band EQ across the iMac's output to even out frequency response, tweaked using a combination of pink noise and well mastered recordings. These were perfect for my needs, but your mileage may vary depending where you are siting them, and what you want them to do. But you definitely need to add a subwoofer for optimal results.
