I bought this a couple months ago with a very nice pack. This is the worst reservoir camelback has ever made. I love the backpack, but this reservoir has leaked since the day I bought it. If the water gets anywhere near the fill opening, I have water all over my back, so I can't fill with more than about 1 liter of water. Also, the water moves to the side opposite the tube and valve so I am sucking air even if the reservoir has water in it. I paid $150 for this pack and have been using camelback products for 30 years. This one is a real loser

I got this to serve as a reserve hydration bladder for days when more than 3L of water is needed. It's sits at the bottom of the backpack and doesn't get in the way of accessing other items compared to a regular bladder that flop around and make the pack unweildy.

I purchased this last Nov. 2022. It was a like for like replacement for my camelback mountain bike backpack. Living in Colorado I had to wait for warmer weather to mountain bike again and this reservoir LEAKS! At first I thought it was me so I have used it several times now and it is definitely the product. It leaks from the circular lid no matter how tight you screw it down. The new drinking hose works fine. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!! I don't understand why Camelback quality control isn't all over this issue. All of the other reviewers saying it leaks are correct.

I purchased this water reservoir for my Badlands backpack because the Badlands 3L reservoir was not available on their website. This is the first water reservoir I have ever used, but thought I should definitely get one since I was going to be in the field every day for over a week. The only time I ever had any leaks with this reservoir were when I was not careful to install the fill cover properly. I noticed the leak immediately when up-righting the reservoir, loosened then re-threaded the fill cover, and no more leaking. The reservoir performed perfectly, and the volume of water per sip was excellent. The only negative criticism I have is the soft hose could be easily cut or torn while walking through heavy brush, but I see an insulated tube is offered, so I ... MoreI purchased this water reservoir for my Badlands backpack because the Badlands 3L reservoir was not available on their website. The reservoir performed perfectly, and the volume of water per sip was excellent. The only negative criticism I have is the soft hose could be easily cut or torn while walking through heavy brush, but I see an insulated tube is offered, so I expect that would solve that problem, and would also keep the water from freezing in colder weather.
I bought this to replace the worn out reservoir in my Skyline. I took a star off because of the 45 degree bite valve fitting. IMO those are only good for fanny packs. They do not work well with backpacks (hose routed over-the-shoulder). I ended up buying an after market 90 degree bite valve since Camelbak does not offer one for this new larger hose. Camebak makes great stuff but they need to get with the program on the bite valve angle.
The reservoir is fine, no bad taste, no leaks, but it doesn't fit my pack. I bought this pack as a replacement for my Camelbak hip pack. It doesn't fit at all, and now I have 45 reservoir that I need to find a new pack for. :-(
I wish Camelbak would spend more time testing their product. It seems no thought was invested in studying how expanding the diameter of the hose would increase the amount of hot water in warm climates like Arizona. I just bought this Reservoir thinking the value connection improvement would be good. I didn't realize they expanded the hose diameter. Bad Idea. All it took was a single ride to realize how quickly the water heated up from the sun. BTW- hose insultation doesn't work either on their 'cold weather' gear. Camelbak, please invest in features that matter. Hot water in Desert climates is a problem. There's solves for this problem...it's time to come up products that support it.
This Lumbar 3L Reservoir came in the CamelBak Sundowner that I bought a year and a half ago in preparation for a one-day Grand Canyon South to North Rim to Rim hike. Since then I've also used it this spring for a one-day Grand Canyon Rim to River to Rim hike. I like how the reservoir fits low on my back in the Sundowner, and the water stays relatively cold. I've never had a problem closing the lid tightly. For me, it's been a great reservoir, keeping me well-hydrated during training and Grand Canyon hikes. I especially like how easy it is to drink from the tube.
Lumbar bladders should be the norm, so much better to carry that weight on your hips. IMHO they are more comfortable than bladders that ride high on the back. This bladder is a little wide, so it may not fit in narrow packs. I don't think the new angled bite valve is an improvement, just another gimmick. The new handle does aid in filling, but it also is just another thing to get tangled up on when trying to wrestle it into a pack. The removable tube may be a plus for some, but I would rather see a less expensive version of this bladder without the "new improvements". My old bandito bladder lasted for over 20 yrs. Time will tell if this one is as good.
This Low Rider version is meant for packs that carry the water at the waist. If you have a CamelBak pack and the model name includes "LR", then this is the correct replacement. For example M.U.L.E. LR or Skyline LR (my personal favorite for Mt Biking). As the rest of the reservoir line up, Hands down, this is the most durable reservoir on the planet. Impact resistant, Puncture resistant, you can boil it, you can freeze and it has an anti microbial built into the reservoir itself that will not flake off if scrubbed with the most abrasive cleaning implement you can come up with. If it leaks from a manufacturing defect, CamelBak will replace it with their Lifetime Got Your Bak Guarantee.
