I'm a biologist that does a good amount of field work in the southern US. I've been using a large Tactical Tailor bag from my time in Iraq to carry around the usual supplies- reference books, reflective vest, pens, notepad, rulers, water bottles, rain jacket, aid kit, etc. As bomb-proof as that bag is, it's just way too big to be carrying around in the brush. I wanted a hydration carrier that is small, organized, and can take a beating.I found the M.U.L.E. a few weeks ago, and it seems to have solved all my problems. I put the bladder in my cooler on the way to a job site and it stays cooler for way longer than I ever use it. Additionally, now I'm not throwing away plastic bottles every time I use them. The M.U.L.E. holds everything that the previous bag does and it's 1/3 the size.My only real complaint is that the straps are a tad uncomfortable, but I'm willing to put up with it considering how well it does everything else. Easily the best buy I've made in a long time. I'm considering buying my wife one for whenever we go hiking and camping.

Given as a gift. Fits well due to many adjustments. Easy clean. Water stayed cold for about 18hrs. Outside holds items with difficulty, easy to clip and unclip dog bowls.

I like the product. It's purpose built and has its place among the other 3 bags i use during SAR. I especially love this brand's durability, having used them for many years in different environments.

I love this pack. I bought it for its reputable durability, and it held up well during my recent travels. For a low-profile design, It holds a lot of space, even with a full 3L reservoir, and the reservoir will typically last a whole day without refilling. You can't go wrong with this one if you're looking for a durable reservoir pack with decent storage space. It has all the essential pockets and a good tube management system for underarm/over-shoulder ports, and water stays generally cold in excessive heat, but water in the tube can get warm - I tested this in Mexico's tropical weather during my adventures. My only complaint about this pack would be the shoulder straps. If you're wearing a layer with this pack (sweater etc.) at full capacity it's completely fine, ... MoreI love this pack. My only complaint about this pack would be the shoulder straps. If you're wearing a layer with this pack (sweater etc.) at full capacity it's completely fine, but the shoulder straps over a t-shirt/tank top will rub against the skin. But again, only if the pack is fully loaded. Overall, this is a great pack and I highly recommend it!!
My experience:-The nicely widthed shoulder straps are highly compatible with broad shoulders, and the quick release option has been handy-Both external compartments hold a surprising amount, even with reservoir full- Durable material and construction- Efficient design and operation- Based on this experience, I'm trying the H.A.W.G. pack for carrying extra layers/gear/supplies due to rapidly unpredictable weather conditions in Appalachian West Virginia*I keep switching back to the M.U.L.E. when weather stabilizes...-I honestly overlooked camelbak for too long because I wasn't interested in the water reservoir system due to history using other brands without success-This is a great pack without the bladder, but the quality of the reservoir and dispenser have ... MoreMy experience:-The nicely widthed shoulder straps are highly compatible with broad shoulders, and the quick release option has been handy-Both external compartments hold a surprising amount, even with reservoir full- Durable material and construction- Efficient design and operation- Based on this experience, I'm trying the H.A.W.G. pack for carrying extra layers/gear/supplies due to rapidly unpredictable weather conditions in Appalachian West Virginia*I keep switching back to the M.U.L.E. when weather stabilizes...-I honestly overlooked camelbak for too long because I wasn't interested in the water reservoir system due to history using other brands without success-This is a great pack without the bladder, but the quality of the reservoir and dispenser have me experimenting with them and finding them useful and durable- Although not necessary, I upgraded the zipper cords to flexible "shoed" style pulls for ease of use in cold
My husband loves this hydration pack! My husbands owns an organic landscaping company and brings this bag to all of his installs. He loves that the material is durable and the mouth piece as well as the tubing is protected compared to his last camelbak bag. Aside from the construction of the bag, what impressed me most what how quickly this bag was processed from the time I placed the order to confirmation that it was shipped: 24 minutes! I received my package a couple of days later in perfect condition. I will be coming back to this site for future purchases on member service alone!
My Ambush 100 Mil-Spec Crux has been my go to pack just about every time I set out in the high country. The MULE provides a little extra room for food and water that I just don’t get with the Ambush. Additionally, the padded shoulder straps is step up from the ambush straps. On the MULE and Ambush, it would be nice if there were some molle anchors on the sides of the pack. But a little bit of thread and a needle takes care of that. Overall a great pack, I would recommend this pack to anyone for a day trip pack.
I use this pack for a Go Bag, and have an additional molle pouch attached for some extra storage.(GGG 5x8 utility- MC)The molle is exact, and the color matches perfectly.I use this pack daily in training, and I'm not gentle with it. Rowing, rucking, and calisthenics, not to mention living out of it for a couple days at a time.No signs of wear after a year and a half.Fits well over my plate carrier (Fero Slickster w/shooters cut plates).Bear in mind, I'm a minimalist, and I have my go bag tuned to my needs and training, my plate carrier holds some equipment, and a battle belt holds combat and larger first aid.You wont be disappointed in this pack, even if its just for a day hike!
I love this smaller design. It’s still a little bigger than my old Camelbak pack that I take out to Theme Parks Concerts and other fun activities where a larger pack would be too much. The hydration system is better than ever and my ArcTerex Leaf Alpha Shell outfit for weather fits in easily folded. It’s freaking awesome. It also fits under the Parka for staying dry in the rain.
Good: It is a nice looking little pack.Bad: Pack is way too small to be functional I could just cram a Kryptek rain suit inside, but not those and gloves.Reservoir: Leaked on very first day of hunting. Took it out of the pack, washed and cleaned it, allowed to dry, back in pack. Leaked like a sieve at the the fill cap. Leaked so much, it emptied the reservoir in about 20 min.Camelbaks are not new to me by any means. I used them in the Border Patrol for 16 years (left for another Fed agency in 2002). Even back then, their lids were prone to leaking. I had hoped they had fixed that problem by now, but I assure you they have not.All in all, very disappointed. I would not recommend this product to anyone. In fact, I would highly recommend go look somewhere ... MoreGood: It is a nice looking little pack.Bad: Pack is way too small to be functional I could just cram a Kryptek rain suit inside, but not those and gloves.Reservoir: Leaked on very first day of hunting.
