I've had many CamelBak backpacks over the year but all have been large enough to have a 3 liter reservoir. This one has a 2 liter reservoir and is consequently much lighter. It's shorter and has no waist strap, but fits comfortably on my back and has plenty of storage space for a 2 to 3 hour hike. You can also carry 2 small water bottles on the shoulder straps if you want more water. I think it will also be perfect for bike rides.

It's shorter and has no waist strap, but fits comfortably on my back and has plenty of storage space for a 2 to 3 hour hike. You can also carry 2 small water bottles on the shoulder straps if you want more water. I think it will also be perfect for bike rides.
Simple concept executed flawlessly. The chest straps move up and down the frame and the pocket in the front is large enough to hold a Samsung s8+. In addition the pack doesn't even feel like it's there it fits so well. Super happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend!!!
I like it! It leak twice when I initially filled it but I took it on 4 hikes in a week and no further leaks. The bag does fall down in the backpack which seems like an over-sight. It fits well and I barely noticed it was there. I loved the convenience of getting a drink without stopping!
I liked the overall design with plenty of pockets. It's great for my purposes. But it has one bad design. The tube comes out of the center of the pack, instead of on either side along the strap. I found it rubbed against my neck and made my skin raw. I had to use a twisty tie to pull it off to the side and then it was fine.
I’ve used many hydration packs over the years. When I got the opportunity to hike Mt Whitney (in one day) I wasn’t sure what size pack. I know I needed lots of water (check), room for food (check), items for if it was colder or rainy at the top (check). This pack was “packed” w everything I needed and was very comfortable. I was a little concerned about there not being a hip belt, but it wasn’t a problem. I love this Camelbak!
The Octane 10 is light, has a surprisingly large amount of storage and fits very snug. I have been trialling it for a few weeks now and am really impressed with how versatile it is.
Love this pack for day hikes - plenty of space for storing your layers, hydration pack is what you expect from Camelback, and details like the hiking pole loops work perfectly. Super light and materials are all top quality.
Before every hike to close the bladder lid. It’s laughable how poorly the lid is designed. I’m convinced it must be a joke…nobody would have tested that design and thought it was remotely close to acceptable. So disappointing
