I used to use multigrips to lift the lid, not real safe. I have found this lid lifter to be safe, good grip etc.

With both the hook for lifting the dutch oven, and the positive grip on the lid when you squeeze the handle, boy, does this thing really lift my lid. Seriously, I used this for the first time Scouting and it was just perfect for getting the lid off carefully and without it swinging around.

I've had this lid lifter for three years. It works well. It gives you a comfortable secure grip when lifting the dutch oven lid.

The lid lifter does a good job for my medium size iron skillet lid. But it is expensive, and might be considered a little overkill for some people. A simpler lid lifer might be easier to store also. It does sit nicely on the skillet while you are cooking so that you don't have to find a place to set it aside while cooking. And it doesn't seem to heat up noticeably. It is a nice lid lifter. I bought it to give to a friend and did not want to spend that much money; but I am the one who uses it...
This will com in handy and save from burning finger! Sturdy build!
I looked all around for a good Dutch oven lid lifter for my 12 inch camp chief dutch oven. Your 14" Lid Lifter is just right and so was the price. When turning your lid and oven and lifting it works great no more ashes in your food.At home or in the woods. Thanks again Campsaver. Rick
This tool is the best design I've ever seen and the price is right on. Keeps lid very firm and steady which is important so you don't get ashes in you food while you take a peek at it's cooking progress. You will find yourself checking many times and you'll sigh of relief when you have one of these. Others cheaper types can not perform the same.
Good lifter for the price. Three points of contact on lid makes for much better control when lifting vs the single 'hook' lifters. Less chance of ash falling in your food.Having a spring loaded handle would be nice but, for the price - works great.This is the shorter version lifter. Your hand is closer to the coals on a camp oven but is really not a problem.
This is well worth the money. When lifting the lid off it will stay in place and not twist. I was going to purchase a different lid lifter till one of the Cabela's experts suggested this one. I am very glade I listened to him.
It provides a nice firm grip on a camp oven lid. It's easy to handle and use
