Ordered the Woodwind WIFI 24 for our weekend lake house. I put it together 3 weekends ago and went up the next weekend to break it in getting ready for the Memorial Holiday weekend where I was going to cook for the entire family. Filled up the hopper with pellets and started the feed step to fill the tube and burn off the grill. The auger was not turning so I removed all of the pellets and attempted to call customer service on Saturday for troubleshooting tips. They are closed on Saturdays so I had to call the next Monday for assistance. I spoke to someone who was very friendly and helpful, but I was at my permanent home and not our lake home where the grill is located. They decided to send me a common part (auger pin) that breaks so that I could take the grill ... MoreOrdered the Woodwind WIFI 24 for our weekend lake house. The part did not come in until after the weekend, but I did take the grill apart and determined the auger pin was fine, but the auger motor was not working. I called yesterday and requested a call back, but I have not heard back from anyone as of today to get a replacement motor sent. Just really disappointed that my brand new grill did not work and that I missed an opportunity to cook for the family on the Holiday weekend. Hopefully I will hear back soon from someone so I can get the grill up and running or replaced.

So my previous grill was a PitBoss, so I'm familiar with cooking on pellet grills...and quite honestly my PitBoss did me well for years, but components started failing repeatedly and I decided it was time for an upgrade. I have to say, so far I am thoroughly impressed by the Woodwind Pro. I am not seeing the crazy temperature swings that I used to have with my PitBoss. PROS: Super stable temps, ease of cleaning ash cup, and of course the smoke box for wood chunks, Wifi connectivity allows remote control of grill thru the app! It truly takes your smoking/grilling to the next level! CON: the front of the smoke box gets super hot, have already burned myself (nothing horrible but just be careful... Camp Chef prob needs to figure out a solution to that ). Overall I am ... Yes its a bit more pricey than some of it's competitors but I can honestly say the quality backs up the price point. I will be adding the sidekick feature to this grill in the near future... Which in my mind will make this the perfect grill!

Upon receiving this smoker I could tell that product quality was important to CampChef. The packaging was secure and the unwrapping process was easy. Assembly took around an hour and was easy to complete. Once i had the smoker standing on its four legs i filled the hoper, reviewed the instructions for completing the initial burn-off and was ready to play! I have experienced many different smokers in my life but never owned one until now. Comparing this to at least half a dozen other brands, the price category is in the middle but the quality and feel lines up with those on the higher price range. I love the fire box for adding that additional smoke flavor. The entire grill is designed to be easy to use but with additional features to keep you from having an accident ... The grill held its temperature at 350 for the duration of my cooking without any issue. I am looking forward to spending my summer making all kinds of meals and snacks for my family.
After extensive research and reading all of the positive reviews, I purchased the Woodwind 24. Assembly was straight forward and the grill looked great. That's where all of the positivity ends. I'm sure I just received bad unit, but Camp Chef has been little help on getting my issues resolved. I've owned the grill now a little I've two years and so disgusted with it, haven't used it but maybe 8 times. The grill takes forever to reach operating temperature just to cook hamburgers, at least 20 to 30 minutes and heaven forbid should you open the grill, because it will never recover temperature before the ihey are done. And this is during g the summertime in TX. Paint started peeling off the front after the first use and has continued to peel to the point that after the first year it looked like it was at least 5 years old. Steaks, forget trying to reach a high temperature to cook a steak, the unit has never been able to go much over 435 degrees and struggles to get there. I've changed pellets, made sure chimney and temp sensor were clean, with no change in the operation of the grill. Contacted Camp Chef and they told me to change the pellets and clean the chimney and temperature sensor. Told them that had already been done and they sent me a new temperature sensor. Once again, no change in the operation of the grill. Contacted Camp Chef again, and agai. They told me to change the pellets making sure everything g was clean and fresh, bit they now may have to send me a new controller board. That was a year ago, no controller board, and honestly I'm about ready to move on to a different brand. Mine is so badly rusted rusted now, it's almost an embarrassment for anyone to see it, and it's never been out in the rain or out from under cover.
Purchased in June of 2023. Worked fine for the first three weeks. Now it will not respond to the temperature controls. No matter what I set it at, via the controller or the app, it just keeps climbing. It seems the auger just keeps feeding pellets. Set it at 160, it will easily hit 250 before I give up. App sends me a notification saying it is "significantly hotter than desired temperature." I believe it keeps feeding pellets even during the shutdown process, as I always find completely unburned pellets in the ash cup after shutting down. Camp Chef does not answer their phone and has not responded to my email. A previous emailed question to them took over a week to answer. They have a link to a "live chat" on their website that is just a dead link to nowhere. I ... MorePurchased in June of 2023. Worked fine for the first three weeks. Also wasted at least a half a bag of pellets and ruined a couple racks of ribs.
In hindsight I would have done better to buy a cheap unit for half the price and just replace it every few years. I ordered it from Lowes, it direct ships from the manufacturer. It was received with the boxes torn to shreds so I refused it and another was shipped. On assembly, the allen screw used to hold the handle that opens/closes the baffle on the firebox stripped so I requested a replacement. The replacement was the wrong screw so they re-sent getting it correct the 2nd time. The design for this handle and how it attaches is laughable. There were no instructions for assembling the lid of the hopper so I muddled my way through it although it wasn't exactly intuitive. Did an ample job of smoking but after 4 smokes I was not able to achieve a temperature over 370 ... There were no instructions for assembling the lid of the hopper so I muddled my way through it although it wasn't exactly intuitive. Did an ample job of smoking but after 4 smokes I was not able to achieve a temperature over 370 degrees. I called Camp Chef and they sent over a new fire box and a new thermometer. You are expected to use the screws that were original to the unit and the screw which holds the fire rod in place on the fire box did not fit the hole on the new firebox (which was a slight different design anyway). Since I was 2 for 2 at not receiving the correct parts I did not attempt to change the thermometer. You would think at the $1200 level you would have bought your way out of nuisance problems but that is not the case with this unit. Customer service is closed on the weekends which makes sense right? After all who smokes on the weekend? 3 months have expired so there is no refund for me I'm just stuck. I will try one more smoke and if it does not work properly I will cut my losses and bring this to the dump which pays I believe $0.35 # for scrap iron then do what I should have done from the beginning and buy a cheap Pit Boss then just throw it away once it rusts out. At this point I would not buy a Camp Chef grill brush.
I received the Camp Chef Woodwind 36 for an early Fathers Day gift. I had been looking at a number of pellet smokers and decided on the Camp Chef based on a friends experience and some of my own research.Building the unit took about an hour and a half, and though the instructions weren't completely clear, it was pretty easy to figure out.Per the instructions I did a 30min startup burn, which went smoothly. The following day I inspected the grill and was disappointed to find the following:- Paint peel from the bar which moves the over on the burn box- Silver coating peeling from the bar the burn box slides over- A screw missing from the lid (which can installed from the factory)The screw I can forgive if it was the sole issue, but the peeling paint is ... Bought this last August to use at a Camper we're remodeling, did my initial burn in and later my first cook, a couple of racks of ribs, all good. The end of April finishing up the remodel and ready to kick off this season planned to cook some burgers, turned the smoker on check it 10 minutes later and no smoke no heat only fan and auger filling cup with pellets that weren't burning. Contact support and they send me instructions to trouble shoot and I it determined the Controller was bad. I send the requested information thinking I can get the parts and be good to go for my Memorial day cook out, crickets. So now heading into my Birthday weekend, followed shortly by Fourth of July and pretty much half way through the season and still no response, no part, no nothing! If there was a ratings less than one star, I'd at about a negative two right now. I paid about $1,500-1,600 dollars for the package I bought almost a year ago and have gotten one cook out of it.

The meat was brined and then dry rubbed and the corn had been soaking so all was set to go. I filled the hopper, plugged it in, set the temp and waited for the magic to happen. Believe me when I say I was not disappointed! The PID controller coupled the the Camp Chef app kept the temperature steady at 250' +/- 5' with the smoke set to 4 The temperature probes let me know the progress of the meat and the timers built into the app reminded me when it was time to spritz the brisket. By the way, the app is a great tool especially when you have other things to take care of like guests. But the real proof was when I served the brisket and corn to our friends that evening. The bark was crisp and tasty and the meat was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy and with a smokey taste that put a smile on everyone's face. The corn was perfect and the smoke flavor made if an excellent side-dish.Since then, I've make ribs, chicken, salmon, smoked eggplant, asparagus, and even pizza with every meal being a success. I've only had the Woodwind 24 for less than 1 month and it has proven itself to be a reliable and easy to use tool for anyone who wants to enjoy those great meals that only a pellet smoker can offer.
