Man oh man is this a great lens. Couple with the R5, this lens makes great photos. This is the setup I've been wanting forever for. I am a hobbyist and took a long while to save up for this camera and lens (I used B&H's 0% interest credit card to pay for it. I just finished paying for the camera and now bought the lens the same way. Thanks B&H).I did my due diligence before I purchased this lens. In one of the reviews I read, the reviewer stated that this lens is now glued to his camera he loved it so much. Spent much time deciding on this lens. I almost went for the new RF 24 - 105mm at f/2.8. I decided that this lens would be took heavy and too long for my liking. I considered the RF 28 - 70 F/2.0. It was really made for video (I don't do that much video) and ... MoreMan oh man is this a great lens. Couple with the R5, this lens makes great photos. It was really made for video (I don't do that much video) and the clincher was no stabilization. Additionally, It was a lot more expensive that the RF 24 - 70 f/ 2.8.I use Capture One for processing my raw files. The sharpness is breathtaking. The only camera's that is sharper, in my experience, is the Sigma DP1 and DP2 (those images are so sharp it will make your eyes bleed). Those images are TOO sharp for my liking. I sharpen my images and then do a slight blur to dampen the sharpness a little but not to lose detail.I like to shoot wide and love my 28mm prime. I am going to sell all my other lenses and stick with just this one lens. Although I shoot mostly wide, I do like the ability to zoom in. One issue is my 28mm prime has almost no distortion. This lens does distort at 28mm. I don't care though. If you are on the fence, just do it. Pull the trigger and get this lens. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for playing along and Ta Ta for Now.

This was my first time renting and it definitely won't be my last! The process was smooth, the lens worked great, and I like how I'm given a credit towards purchasing the lens after I've rented it. Overall, I had a great experience and will recommend to my fellow photographers. With the cost of everything increasing, I'm glad I'm able to rent a lens instead of purchasing more expensive gear that I don't need. My only regret is that I didn't sign up for Lensrentals HD. This would save so much money down the line and it is definitely worth it.

I'm a photographer and bought an RF 24-70mm that after less than 1 year had insects inside.Although the lens is supposed to be sealed and within warranty, it is sent to be repaired, which gives me a negative response and offers me an assumption for its cleanliness. It seems ridiculous to me to pay more than 2 thousand euros for an objective supposedly sealed against the weather and after 1 year there are animals inside the objective, and I am not covered by the Canon guarantee.I leave you the video attached so that you are ashamed of the material you sell.At least Canon could have the humility of recognizing that the lenses are not sealed and therefore not worth what you pay for them, cleaning these problems at no cost was the least they had to do, for years ... MoreI'm a photographer and bought an RF 24-70mm that after less than 1 year had insects inside.Although the lens is supposed to be sealed and within warranty, it is sent to be repaired, which gives me a negative response and offers me an assumption for its cleanliness. It seems ridiculous to me to pay more than 2 thousand euros for an objective supposedly sealed against the weather and after 1 year there are animals inside the objective, and I am not covered by the Canon guarantee.I leave you the video attached so that you are ashamed of the material you sell.At least Canon could have the humility of recognizing that the lenses are not sealed and therefore not worth what you pay for them, cleaning these problems at no cost was the least they had to do, for years using UNSEALED lenses from low-end brands . and I've never had a problem, now I'm inverting it on a premium lens like this one which isn't worth the inversion.I really regret buying this lens.

This was my first experience to rent from lens rental. And I must say that it was a great experience from to start to finish. Lens arrived a day earlier so that was amazing! They didnât charge me for extra day though!!! I was bit nervous renting such an expensive lense but they made whole process very straightforward, simple and efficient. I would recommend to use lenserental.com for all of their needs.Lense performance is excellent and beyond any doubts or question. However it is one of the heaviest lense I have ever used and so if you are thinking of holding camera the whole day with this lense then I would suggest to look for other alternatives.
I finally bit the bullet after years and years of doing video production professionally and my only complaint is with myself.... how did I wait so long before purchasing better quality glass. It's one of those things that you don't notice until you've used it. The auto focus speed is so fast I thought it was broken when I first put it to use, because I couldn't see the focus shift. The stabilization is what I expected and I don't think I'll fully be without a gimbal any time soon but that has a lot to do with Canons in body stabilization as well (I'm using the R6). The only other pieces of L glass I ever used prior were the 17-40 and 24-105 adapted and I always loved how sharp and color accurate they were and this blows both of those lenses away. I don't see it leaving my main camera and I'll probably continue to rotate out the primes for extremely shallow DOF shots for obvious reasons but this lens can do it all, aside from birding and sports, but that's a whole different ball game (no pun intended).
This lens is everything you need as a photographer/videographer. The wide aperture creates a nice silky bokeh as well as being perfect in low light scenarios. The zoom range is everything you need in a daily shoot. Only complaints I would have is that the lens is heavy and expensive. With premium glass, it is expected that the lens would be heavy, however this blew me away. No matter what, getting quality photos from a lens like this one is going to be expensive, therefore this complaint was expected. With that being said, i rate this lens a 5/5 due to the only complaints being of what I already knew I was going to get. Great lens!
This is not technically a new lens for it has been announced for a while, and I've been waiting for upgrading my 9-year-old EF24-70L II for a long time. Now I finally have it. The new lens presents slightly better image quality and the image stabilizer is awesome. Now I don't need to worry about not bringing a tripod with me because 2 seconds of handheld exposure is just a piece of cake with this monster stabilizer. I got my new lens and days after a huge snowstorm came so I tried it out. The weather seal is good and no fogging on the front element. Anyway, this is just a regular upgrade for my gears. But if you are looking for a new lens, this is definitely a good choice!
Amazing image quality, rugged and durable build, and very easy to use. The lens has a very solid feel, right down to the focus and zoom rings. They turn with just the right amount of effort. 24-70 is a very versatile focal length and the 2.8 aperture is fast enough to perform well in low light environments.Only a few things hold this lens back from perfection: the annoying mount-side lens cap, the aperture size, and the price. The RF lens mount-side lens cap standard is frustrating. There is only ONE way for it to slot onto the lens correctly and it is very hard to find while youâre balancing another lens or your camera in your other hand. The other two issues are considerations that always come up. Of course if I could have this lens in F1.8 it would be better. ... MoreAmazing image quality, rugged and durable build, and very easy to use. Additionally, if it was cheaper I would be happier too, who wouldnât?To summarize this lens is great, if you can afford it you wonât regret it. This lens is an apex performer that is a must for professional photographers using RF cameras.
This lens has been on my wishlist for a while now and I was able to save up and buy this beast finally. This is my go to and most versatile lens for everything. I use this with Canon R8 for photography and video during the day. However for night photography and video I use RF 35mm 1.8 that works really well at night. These two lenses are always in my backpack. The only cons of this lens is that itâs pretty heavy as compared to other lenses I have. But you get what you pay for the quality is incredible.
I LOVE this lens! It's a versatile lens for walking around a city or on vacation. It's sharp as a tack! I use it with a Canon R5. The 2.8 allows you to be creative with depth of field. As with the other RF lenses, it's not lightweight, but it's not too heavy - you really don't think about the weight after a bit. Some have opted for the 28-70 due to the f2.0 versus the 2.8. For most photo enthusiasts, the 24mm trumps the 2.0, but that's a personal decision. I chose the wider setting over the additional f-stop. No regrets. This lens is certainly one of the Canon 3 go-to lenses. It compliments my RF 70-200 2.8.
