I just love the way this lens looks through the C100. The Sharpness and Bokeh is Excellent and does something special to the C100 image and to me it just matches it's 35mm sensor perfectly. And the autofocus on this lens work so good with the C100's Dual Pixel AF. I already own the Canon 24mm f/2.8 and use it all the time, and for this particular shoot I needed a lens that gave me more light for shooting in a darker space. The focal length is great, of course, and it accomplished all my light needs, and there is no distortion at the edges. I tend to shoot at f2.0 when I can and the lens was softer than the f2.8. Also, the color was "soft," which doesn't really match my style of editing, or the other lenses I use, so the edits were more difficult. I would probably rent this lens again if I absolutely needed the light that it offers, but as far as purchasing I would stick with the less expensive f2.8.

It also makes harder to overshoot your focus point while shooting video.This is a lens worth getting, keeping and shooting on.The attached image was the first shot out of the box. Taken at an airfield with fairly heavy light pollution.

Chose this over a 24-70 f/2.8, for weddings and most everything else. Previously have extensively used a 24-105 f/4 (5D series kit lens) and 24-70 f/2.8, and I currently also have a 24mm tilt-shift. I shoot with a 5D Mark IV (full frame). With the 24-* lenses, mostly they tend to be used either at 24 or at 70 or 105, and much less frequently in-between. The 24mm tilt-shift is fantastic for many purposes, but is really a specialty tool with a relatively slow f/3.5 maximum aperture, and no auto-focus. So rather than the 24-* zooms, a 70-200 makes more sense to cover the longer end, with the clearly superior 24 1.4 covering the wide end. For event running-and-gunning, it works best in a two-camera setup where you have immediate access to another camera with a longer lens (for weddings, we have either a 50 1.2 or a 70-200 2.8 on the second camera, and the 24 1.4 stays on pretty much the entire time). Shooting at 1.4, you feel the need to use a flash far, far less (and it focuses great in low light with a 5D III and IV). For portraits this is a special lens because, with care, you can get a pseudo-medium-format look if shot at 1.4 (with ND filter if outdoors) - wide angle with narrow DOF.
I rented this lens specifically for an astrophotography add on at a workshop that ended up being canceled due to poor visibility. So, unfortunately I never was able to use the lens as intended and it just sat in my bag besides a few initial test shots. Seemed like a powerful and potent piece of glass
This 24mm f1.4 L lens is horrible! I don't recommend it to anyone. Shame, shame, shame on Canon for not recalling this lens, or providing an extended warranty for defective units. The only L lens that has poor or defective auto-focus. I bought 2 copies from eBay and both have defective auto-focus. Wasted my time shopping for them, waiting for them, and ultimately sending them back. Anyway, I heard that older copies have this problem more pronounced than the newly manufactured ones. If this is true, then I suggest only buying the newer ones or even a brand new one that you can easily return. In my case, I'm completely done with this lens and I'm not interested in getting one anymore.

I rented this lens with the intent to do some star photography while visiting my in-laws' cabin in the wilds of Northern Michigan. What I got was 4 days of cloudy off and on rain. I managed a few photos in between showers. But wasn't able to really try out the lens as I'd hoped.Overall, a great lens for what I was able to shoot with it. But I can't really vouch for it's use with stars as they were too shy to make an appearance.

I missed other reviews of this lens before I bought it for astrophotography. That was an expensive mistake. This lens has serious coma on the sides as many others have noted. Shooting at f4 or smaller helps, but that defeats the purpose of buying a fast lens. For the price I expected much more. For other uses it seems like a good lens, but for my purpose I am looking at Samyang/Rokinon and hope I get a good copy on the first try.
