This little lens, the 10-18 mm STM zoom, does everything it's supposed to do and does it well. Still, I rarely use it. I don't do Real Estate photography, interiors and such, and at my age I rarely get to the alpine outlooks that feature sweeping vistas. In other words, I don't have a lot of use for this lens. With that in mind, it really does live up to the reviews which are excellent wherever you look. Images are sharp and clear. It really does get wide views, wider than my other lenses by a lot. It's easy to use and I've had no glitches with it at all. Still though, with my 60D and 70D, I use my 18-135 mm Nano and 70-300 mm Nano a lot. They're versatile, crisp, and no fuss or bother. It's more a function of what I shoot than anything else. The 10-18 is a great ... MoreThis little lens, the 10-18 mm STM zoom, does everything it's supposed to do and does it well. The 10-18 is a great lens at a terrific price for someone that needs ultra wide capability. Even though I don't use mine much at all I'm considering keeping it. For special purposes it's great. It didn't cost much at all. It doesn't take up much space either. Who knows? I may find myself at the top of Mount Tam at sunset and need a wide angle. It always seems that right after I part company with something that I never use, the next week I need the darn thing. In the end, It does what it's supposed to do, is easy to use, seems well made, and is very reasonably priced. Do you actually have a need for an ultra wide lens? Darned if I know. If you get one and find out that you don't it does retain its value. Check it out. There's virtually no risk.

Plastic housing, but that means it doesn't weight much, which is a good thing when you're hauling around equipment, especially for older folks. My guess is this would be terrific for doing video. I bought it for a friend who wanted to shoot video. I tried it out for stills and found it very satisfying. I have lots of equipment, various brands, but I would not hesitate to buy this lens again for myself. The price and value are much better than paying 2-3X as much for a Fuji or Nikon lens of similar focal length or even the Canon 11-22 for the M series. I have one of those and it's quite sharp and has a metal body, but if I had it all to do over, I'd probably go this route.

The lens was pretty standard and had no issues. Reason for rating pertains to the filters. My first issue I accept some responsibility as the filter had debris on it and needed to be cleaned. Unfortunately, I did not realize it until after a couple days and many photos had already been taken. Secondly, the polarizing filter did not have any indicators although it had a large scale printed. Maybe a digital copy of the instructional pamphlet that accompanies the products would be beneficial?

I love this lens so far. I was looking for a good wide angle lens for landscape photography and looked at this lens, other Canon lenses, Tokina, and Sigma. I can't tell you how many independent ratings I looked at for all of the lens I reviewed, and this one kept coming out highly rated and one of the tops. Yes, you can buy the Canon 16-35mm f2.8, and you will pay quite a multiple vs. this lens. I also looked at the 10-22mm and the 10-18 was still higher rated. So far I've used this lens at the beach for great ocean shots, sunrises, and sunsets and I've been extremely pleased. I've also used this on fall nature hikes and it has been a great addition to my lens array. It's light and small, and that is a plus for my camera bag. It doesn't have the "sturdy" feel of the 16-35 and other L series lenses, but I assure you that that has not been a problem. Keep in mind this is a lens for a crop camera vs. full frame. I know many use this lens in real estate photography, but that is not in my bailiwick. However, for those users I've heard nothing but positive comments. I've experienced no vignetting or flares. I've even used for night photography for stars (bumped up the ISO) and I was so happy with the images. I would tell you not to worry about the minimum f-stop; that has not been a problem with me. In fact, my feeling is that for must uses you are not going to be using this lens for minimal background with the lower f-stop. Yes, it would be nice for low light situations, but with most cameras today you can push the ISO without noticeable image degradation in noise. This has proven to be a terrific lens for me and, for the price, it's an extra bonus!
This was a gift for my wife. The lens itself is great. She loves it. However just about all of the other items in this kit were missing. If I wanted just the lens I could have gotten it anywhere and for cheaper. The draw here was the other accessories.Disappointing outcome.
I purchased this lens through Walmart after doing some extensive research and looking at other sellers. I am so happy that I did, not only did they have the best price, but the lens came with a hood, filters and a case which is perfect if you have to pack your camera in bags or for storing. Package arrived quickly and just as described. Would definitely recommend ordering this lens if you’re looking for a wider angle lens. I am a beginner just learning to shoot manual and this lens has a great autofocus feature and has really been helpful.
High performance, low cost lens is extremely useful and truly expands your capabilities in many situations. The ability to capture extra wide images adds a new dimension to one's repertoire. This lens is sharp enough with good bokeh. One can shoot large objects and buildings without running a quarter mile away. You can get closer and still see a large view, avoiding the narrow tunnel vision provided by normal lenses. It is great for capturing large groups, especially indoors, and expansive landscapes without stitching multiple images as a panorama in post processing programs to get the big picture. It is especially adept in museums, factories, restaurants and other close quarters where you want a wide, full view. While it is not a professional lens with a price tag ... MoreHigh performance, low cost lens is extremely useful and truly expands your capabilities in many situations. While it is not a professional lens with a price tag to match - it IS a good, high quality, reasonably sharp low distortion, useful lens at an affordable price. It definitely punches above its weight class. I wish I had purchased this lens years ago. As always, B&H promptly and safely delivered the right item at a competitive price. JR
I purchased this lens around the time I got my new Canon R10. I mainly shoot my YouTube vlogs with it and have found the quality superb! When outdoor on auto focus, the picture was very clear - only had one green dot come in because I didn't have a lens hood for this lens at the time of creating my video. I do now! This lens was purchased for the purpose of outdoor video creation, not so much for photography. I have seen by reviews and see that it is very capable there, as I do love lenses that have versatility (for example, the Cannon 22mm F.2 pancake is one of the most versatile lenses ever!). I did have to purchase the $99 Canon EF to RF adapter to use this lens and it works awesome! It does make the vlogging set a little heavier thought! But it's worth it. I ordered this lens that was supposed to be new. But i am sent a dirty used lens with their DNA on it. It took 2 flippin weeks to get it. The 10 to 18 mm lens was a great addition to lens selections for my Canon T7 the wide view readily compensates for the crop sensor in the Canon Rebel series , this lens gives sharp wide images that rival that of a full frame sensor and it does fairly well on closeups within a few inches like a macro. the crop factor of the Canon Rebel is 1.6 so essentially your at 16 when set to 10mm just enough to avoid a fish eye lens effect , lovin the purchase. The seller Paging Zone was ultra quick with zero hassle in shipping, 5 stars!
