Yes you can start to point and shoot straight out of the box but this piece of Kit can definitely grow with you to the point where I, personally, dont really see myself venturing far beyond.Just a couple of tips before you buy.1. Do research which Canon models have an Image Stabilizing lensIS as standard. Youd be surprised at the number of shops who fail to make this clear in listings. You may end up spending more than you need if you dont do this.2. Do invest in The Dummies guide which you can also purchase on Amazon. The Camera only comes with the bare minimum of setup details and there is no way you will fully understand all the buttons, setup screens and huge amount of features without sitting down with this guide/manual and taking the voyage of discovery at your own pace.

This camera was my choice.The camera has many, many features and functions and I have a long way to go before I will be able to use them all.I would like to offer the following though:The camera is well designed and fits comfortably in the hands for right-handed use, the camera is also surprisingly light – much unlike the rather heavy cameras and lenses of my past!The supplied handbook is next to useless, it is very long, but that is because of the inclusion of pretty much every language you can name. Some have complained about the unavailability of a handbook, but if you go to the manufacturer’s website it is quite easy to navigate to/and download the handbook for free. It only took me a couple of minutes.Would I recommend this camera – Yes, I believe it is perfect for one’s initial exploration of the DSLR world.Be sure to order a memory card as one does not come with it. Personally, I think Canon could have provided a minimum sized card to help get started, but oh well.Similarly, there is no camera to PC cable. I chose a card reader to overcome this.I hope this helps, if you are considering purchase of this camera.

Curry's should make it very clear that this is no professional tool, least a beginner is confused; but it's definitely a great bargain considering the two lenses, and I strongly advise it to detox from out addiction to phone cameras. You will not believe how much gets compressed and lost when you use your phone compared to something like this. The camera is obviously extremely fragile, and the mirrors are exposed every time you change lenses: watch out for dust or abrupt bumps!Cons: I would have preferred to find a USB cable in the package so that one can download pictures straight away. The SD card was also a problem: not only there is none included in the bundle (again, thanks for not alerting the buyer - I had to order one and wait for days), but you will not find anywhere any specification about which card format is compatible with the camera. For someone city-based, it means taking the camera to a shop, and enlist the help of an expert to find the right card; for someone in the countryside like me, it meant hours of web forums and spec charts until I could work out whether it was a mini, a 0.3, etc

I have had this camera approx 1 week I had bought it especially for taking pictures on holiday in Santorini. I practised using it at home for a couple of family pics that are very clear. I have older cameras which are so much better for zooming but I treated my self to a more modern camera.I was so looking forward to taking photos in Santorini of the beautiful sunset and this camera disappointed me. It was on full zoom, the sun was really close and large and the pictures were shocking, the sun looked like a pin prick and not very clear. My friends mobile phone took better pictures than the camera. Im afraid i will have to send it back. I purchased the Canon camera to update from a point and shoot digital camera that served me for over ten years. After reading and watching YouTube videos, I decided to upgrade to this camera. Overall I am pleased with the purchase, but you must make up your mind to learn to shoot in the manual mode. Using the auto-mode strictly and depending on the camera, I felt the images were not as beautiful as my old point and shoot camera. Since leaving the auto-mode and using manual mode plus learning to set the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO correctly, I have noticed a difference for the better. So buy the camera if learning interests you, and if not, you are better off with a point and shoot camera. Other notable items to mention about the camera are the battery life is spectacular. In the three weeks of ownership and taking over 100 photos and five-minutes of video, recharge only once needed to be done. The on-off switch is helpful for a modern high-tech electronic device and only needs pushed forward to turn on and pulled back to turn off. There is no irritating power button like all cell phones, tablets, and other new items thatrequire holding the button for a few seconds to be ready to use. Another great feature of the camera is being able to shoot RAW images, which opens up a massive amount of photography opportunities. If all the above interests you, the Canon camera will serve your needs.

Pros: Canon product, so excellent durability. Really good image quality for an APS-C Canon "crop" camera.Best dlsr camera for price range.Very good battery life. Very easy to transfer photo to phone or devices wirelessly.Cons: No image stabilisation on the camera which isn’t great when recording on the move, although you can purchase lenses with image stabilisation. There are better products at this price for video recording but not for photography.

do not buy .i bought a cannon rebel t 7 camera. first it came already defective it would keep my batteries chsrged. i thought it waa my batteries bought some more nope same thing. register it with cannon to claim the warranty. they couldn't accept the warranty because it wasnt supose to be sold in the U.S. then i called the extended protection plan i had and since it was alreasy defective they couldn't fix it. called back to Walmart and they supposedly left a message with the seller said they would get back with me in 48 hours. that was sunday before labor day still nothing. i called them they told me to email them the receipt so i did Friday with the cannon warranty receipt. guess what nothing yet. i called up there 3 times and no answer. do not buy.
