Canon EOS M50 Body Black

This is the most recent camera I’ve purchased. Overall I consider it one of my favorite cameras I’ve ever gotten because it’s smaller and very lightweight compared to other models or brands. It’s a great camera for both photography and videography! It’s mirrorless and with great advanced technology. Lens are interchangeable so you can use a prime lens, zoom, etc. The quality is very clear the main con with this camera is that it doesn’t work the best with low light situations so have extra lighting handy in the dark or shoot with natural light!

Good Starter

I've had this camera for a while and will provide thoughts on it. I wanted to move from a point and shoot to an interchangeable lens camera to get better image quality. The APS-C sensor does a decent job of providing images; it greatly outshines the p&s camera I had prior.The controls take some getting use to, so be sure to download a manual as the settings are not intuitive. Example, to shoot UHD video you need to go through various menus and wheel turns. For the price I paid, this is a very nice starter camera, but I will definitely upgrade once my skills become more refined.Be sure to get some lens adapters so you have more options for lenses.

Great for ACTORS! Level up Self-Taping!

This is a great camera to help level-up the quality of your self tapes for your auditions. Everything was incredibly easy to set up. And if I had any trouble, I could find simple instructions very easily online. Canon even has free software to let you use this camera as a webcam for Video conferencing.I'm currently only a novice when it comes to photography (i.e. - lighting, exposure, etc.), so I primarily use the automated functions where I don't have to do much to change/improve the video quality. I've also only used the camera for spurts of 20 minutes at a time, so the battery life is great so far. Great images; software totally unusable, hence, so is camera

I bought this camera to do videos. The camera took superior quality video and images (the sole reason for my two stars), but getting them off the camera to my computer was a nightmare. The EOS software apps are impossible to pair with the camera and the interfaces are seemingly programmed in 1996. I'm not even exaggerating. Worse, once you install the very antiquated software, the camera can't be found or paired over wi-fi. Again, total nightmare. I ended up selling the camera after weeks of frustration trying to get it to simply work. Another downside is that this camera EATS batteries in video mode, and you can't plug it in and charge batteries at the same time. Again, not user friendly. I fully recommend this product for filmmakers

This is an excellent product that delivers exactly what is promised. I purchased this about a month ago and since then I’ve had rarely any problems with it whatsoever. The 4K 30 FPS capability makes it an amazing deal for filmmakers. It’s a good price/quality balance and can be used alongside many attachments/extensions to suit most needs whatever they may be. The standard HD can go up to 60 FPS which is perfect for slow motion shots. The 4K has a 1.7 crop on it which can be a bit disorienting at times but it’s something you learn to get used to after a short time using the camera. I’ve never personally been too huge a fan of cannon. However I very much recommend this camera as apposed to my original choice. After comparing both products I decided to purchase the Cannon EOS M50. In the short time I’ve had it, it has proven to me time and time again that I made the right choice. The only downside I’ve found is the lens comparability. If you want to use a separate lens on your camera you have to purchase a lens adapter which can be a bit pricey. Other than that it is (in my opinion) an amazing camera and I very much recommend it for anyone who is considering buying a camera, or is torn between this and another camera. I am very satisfied with the product and am grateful for the helpful BestBuy staff’s recommendation of it.

So this may not be the absolutly best specs on a camera, but its a bit cheaper then some of the other mirrorless out there at the moment. But this isn't all about the specs for me, its very easy to use and just pick up and go but still has the options to adjust and change what you need.- size and form - This is probably smaller then some of you may want but if your looking for something small and the still feels sturdy. Auto focus works great I never really worry about it finding my face or not being in focus and if I want to check the screen flips out to adjust from all sides! I think there are some that won't like the menus and button layout but for the quick little shooter I wanted the auto select knob for present makes it very fast and easy to not search around for things on screen, then in each of those there are very easy on screen menus that pop up with out having to leave the screen your looking at the photo or video with. Now there is some custom feature and great shooting modes like RAW + jpeg and its got wifi and bluetooth, that will link to my phone for cool viewing through your cell phone to use the camera even if your not beside it. This comes in very handy and makes things like taking a quick review photo moving it to my phone or laptop , editing it then posting or using that photo where ever I need it.- lens selection- this is where the camera with this m mount miss out a little bit and I wish they made a lot more native lenses for this camera, but it doesn't get knocked down because you can get an adapter and use your other EF and EF-s lenses. So that gives it a great selection to choose from and even the EF-M lens are pretty good that I have tried so far and keep it small and light weight!- battery life- I might get on here and say the full amount by the shot or hour it does but I haven't had time to test it so far and I just got an extra battery and I don't have problems with it dying very fast. Along with that these are also small and easy to take so you can just throw your extra in any pocket on your bag or back pack and it should fit.- Photo and video - Im not going to get technical with this because its just a review for people looking to buy and if you want specs and things go to you tube. But this camera to me takes great video right out of the box even with the kit lens. On top of taking great video the photos are really good as well and it does much better in low light then I thought it would! But I'm pretty sure its got the Digic 8 processor which is a bit newer then some out right now so that probably helps. The photos have been pretty easy to use and edit along with being able to set the video the way you want it on the camera most the time and not having to edit in post much to get it looking good.One bad but doesn't matter to me the 4k has not got the same auto focus as the 1080 but it still has some type of focus, but it still works and I think some would be happy with this all I can say is the colors looked good when I tried it. But I would test this out for your self and for me right now the 4k takes up way to much space and the 1080 looks great with this little thing to me.Now for pros I can't say get it for sure but I wouldn't over look it just because of others saying bad things about the 4k or something sill because its so easy to use and fun on top off that and last but most important of all it has a great price I think most people can afford and will make me feel much safer with being rough on it because I know the body of the camera doesn't cost crazy amounts to replace!Either way I like it and would recommend you guys at least check it out and it would be a good back up and travel camera as well.** by the way those photos I put with it my not be the best but I was just showing how it does in low light with the enjoy photo, and with the detail on that out side shot with no filter**

No regrets, great for beginners!

I've had my camera since Nov 2020. Last Fall I sent it to be repaired with the manufacturer (even if you don't get the best buy care you can still send it to get fixed) - Canon because my camera had stopped working due to an accident. It was repaired and returned to me for free, when I got it back I noticed it was slower to pick up movement on the screen and it felt weird. However it's been able to continue to record and take beautiful photos. Just so you know it's super sensitive to water - ex: being in the moist for 30 mins in the morning. Although I did take it to Guatemala while it was raining - but I wouldn't push your look because the insurance doesn't cover it. There's so many features I'm still learning, the top black part fell off easily and my sibling lost my lens cap. I tried buying other ones and they don't fit. It could adjust better/quicker with zoom in features, it isn't super smooth for that but it might just be after the repair or me lol. Works great to put on a tripod, and reads SD cards super quickly. I wanted to buy another one but saw they no longer sell them new at Best buy :/ - It picks up pretty decent sound, I've just bought an external mic for it and looking to buy a wireless mic for when I want to record events.

Overall after 6 months of use I am impressed.

I purchased this camera with a adapter for the EF lenses and a speed adapter as well. Everything works great. Awesome RAW capability. The focus is fast and accurate on all but one of my lenses which tends to continue to search. It has very few shortcomings compared to my DSLR's and has become my main camera. 4K video has impressed me as well with great color saturation. I also purchased an adapter for my Contax lenses. It is great to be able to use the good Zeiss optics again. These never worked well on the DSLR's due to the focus length of the lens. Review of Video Performance

I set mine up for video - a whole SmallRig setup with a light and monitor. The camera does more than you would expect it to do for the price.The EF-M lens options are sparse but there are fantastic ones out there, so this isn't a big deal; further, I grabbed a Viltrox speed booster and can run EF lenses (highly recommend.)The kit lens is fine. Decent as long as there is good light. But definitely get a few other lenses. I love the speed booster with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 for only about $300 for the pair. Better glass will absolutely get more out of this camera.The 4K has yet to be used because of a rolling shutter issue that does not cooperate with action shots (which is what I'm filming most) - plus the cropping is significant.
