The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is a very good digital camera for photographers. Excellent for 1080p video but not 4K. The autofocus system on the Mark II is an improvement over the previous model. It has improved face and eye detection so you're less likely to get blurred photos with this camera. The built-in flash works well in low light conditions. You need to use the touch screen to get effects such as blurred backgrounds. The retracting design of the lens makes it relatively compact to carry but you will need to buy an extra battery for extended shooting time. You will also need to buy a couple of photo quality SD cards. Connects to your computer via a USB connection with Canon's Webcam Utility software.

I purchased the Canon M50 Mark II 2 years ago solely for my YouTube channel. This is my first mirrorless camera and so far it has been a useful and efficient tool to taking high quality videos and giving out vibrant and nice contrast photos. I love its compact size (lightweight and comfortable grip) and easy to use features. The Mark II has subtle modifications compared to its predecessor, the Canon M50. These modest upgrades were also the reason why I purchase it over the M50. The autofocus refinements (eye tracking AF for both stills and videos and face detection) are actually substantial. I would say it's fast and accurate. The ability to shoot video vertically is also a plus especially for serious vloggers. I also own the M3 and it's just curious how Canon decides to place some controls on external dials on the different models. Something I use a lot and really appreciate about the M3 is the exposure compensation dial. Needless to say, the M50 Mark II has it on a display item. Oh well, small price to pay for having the articulated back display which is so much more useful than the tilting display on the M3. Also, it would have been nice if the M50 had a built in flash, but it is also nice that it has a built in viewfinder. I only use the back display as a viewfinder when these old bones won't bend enough to enable me to look through the viewfinder. Bottom line, is the M50 Mark II is a nice little camera that I use for situations when I don't want to risk my regular ... MoreI also own the M3 and it's just curious how Canon decides to place some controls on external dials on the different models. If I lose my R6, well, that's more of a loss.

I've had this camera for a while and will provide thoughts on it. I wanted to move from a point and shoot to an interchangeable lens camera to get better image quality. The APS-C sensor does a decent job of providing images; it greatly outshines the p&s camera I had prior. The controls take some getting use to, so be sure to download a manual as the settings are not intuitive. Example, to shoot UHD video you need to go through various menus and wheel turns. For the price I paid, this is a very nice starter camera, but I will definitely upgrade once my skills become more refined.Be sure to get some lens adapters so you have more options for lenses.
So as they say, It's not the size of the camera, but the quality of the lens. I bought the body only (as shown), and instead got theCanon EF-M 22mm f2 STM pankcake (for wide shots and portability) and the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM w/adapter for tele shots and macro shots. I have other L-lenses as well, but these two I chose for this camera. Mainly I use this as a B camera for overhead shots (w/ boom) when vlogging product videos. Don't let the size fool you, it's a very capable camera! It can also double as a travel camera if you like.I immediately switched everything to manual, turned off the non-pro menu features, and enabled volume meters while recording. So I can't say a whole lot about the prosumer features because I just don't care. Those that say that you can't access the battery while mounted... it all depends on your tripod head. I didn't have that issue with the boom I'm using. Also, if you're mounting on the adapter or lens, you'll have more flexibility as to what tripod head you can use. I think this is great for the boom because it's not too heavy.I have an on-camera mic (Sennheiser 440k) since this camera is the closest one and am using a wireless lavalier w/ camera A, which is further away. So I can't comment on on-camera sound, except to not use on-camera sound on any camera for any serious purposes.Cons: I haven't tried the HDMI out feature yet, but I did notice that if you disable the screen info for the HDMI out, some features will not be available. The 4k is crop. Recording stops after a certain amount of time without the HDMI, so I do check from time to time to ensure it's recording. I wish there was some alarm or beeping to let you know, or just not have it turn off. You have to hunt for the menu to enable volume meter while recording. It should be default. The grandma/prosumer/baby menus (to stay politically correct) are disconcerting and I turned them off. Stabilization is digital... I'd shy away from it and rely on lens stabilization if available, or a tripod. The automatic switch to visor is annoying since anytime your move your hand to touch the screen the screen turns off... so I disabled this default setting.Really I just use this as a B-camera so all I cared about was getting it up and running, which I was able to do after customizing the settings to my needs. My favorite part is that Canon colors always come out looking great. Just keep in mind that the camera alone will not get you good footage. Make sure you have good lighting, miking, camera position/movements, and a great lens.

I've had my camera since Nov 2020. Last Fall I sent it to be repaired with the manufacturer (even if you don't get the best buy care you can still send it to get fixed) - Canon because my camera had stopped working due to an accident. It was repaired and returned to me for free, when I got it back I noticed it was slower to pick up movement on the screen and it felt weird. However it's been able to continue to record and take beautiful photos. Just so you know it's super sensitive to water - ex: being in the moist for 30 mins in the morning. Although I did take it to Guatemala while it was raining - but I wouldn't push your look because the insurance doesn't cover it. You can definitely wait for it to dry though and tell them to take a look at it if it doesn't work. ... MoreI've had my camera since Nov 2020. There's so many features I'm still learning, the top black part fell off easily and my sibling lost my lens cap. I tried buying other ones and they don't fit. It could adjust better/quicker with zoom in features, it isn't super smooth for that but it might just be after the repair or me lol. Works great to put on a tripod, and reads SD cards super quickly. I wanted to buy another one but saw they no longer sell them new at Best buy :/ - It picks up pretty decent sound, I've just bought an external mic for it and looking to buy a wireless mic for when I want to record events.
This is my first entry into the mirrorless world. I needed a good lightweight field camera and wanted a camera that could use my Canon lenses. I have a good stock of old Contax lenses as well. I purchased this camera with a adapter for the EF lenses and a speed adapter as well. Everything works great. Awesome RAW capability. The focus is fast and accurate on all but one of my lenses which tends to continue to search. It has very few shortcomings compared to my DSLR's and has become my main camera. 4K video has impressed me as well with great color saturation. I also purchased an adapter for my Contax lenses. It is great to be able to use the good Zeiss optics again. These never worked well on the DSLR's due to the focus length of the lens. I spent a good amount of time with B&H personnel trying to determine what is the best camera for me. The gentleman was extremely helpful and provided several suggestions. The best part was the offering of pro's and con's of each. They were open and honest. The camera is amazing. I do have a little difficulty in getting the focusing just right however it is, probably, due to the first time using a mirrorless camera. That being said, the fit, function and overall operation of the camera is excellent.

There are alternatives that are a similar style to this brand for much cheaper on the market, and I should mention that, but this camera delivers extra features for its higher price, making it worth the investment. All in all, this camera is the best in its class as far as features and quality, and only gets beaten in price. I should say "beaten in price" with a catch, as the extra features and quality make this camera a better true value. There is no need to attach a photo as what I got out of the box matched what is shown by Best Buy as far as items and quality.
