Good kit for the money

I had a Canon EOS 35mm years ago and wanted to start taking pictures semi-seriously again. This is a good starting point with top quality lenses. The body itself is made in Taiwan; it is a little smaller that what I thought it would be but I am getting used to its smaller size and lighter weight. It's composite (plastic of some type) but doesn't feel cheap. The bag is ok but has no pockets and only one divider; I am using it but will probably look for an upgrade soon. It works if you want to leave the smaller lens on the camera and keep the 75-300mm stored next to it separated by the divider. The padding of the bag itself is minimal. The lenses come with solid caps on both ends and the body includes a cap for when no lens is attached. The strap is usable but not too comfortable on bare skin.

However, the lack of items such as a Type C download cable and some more simple features is a shame, as I spent $70 on two cables that would retroactively fit the camera. Still, the overall package with both the 55mm and 300mm telephoto lens and carrying bag was worth the price. The additional lens is a huge bonus, especially as I learn. The whole package makes it easy to go from up close summer shots of flowers and bumblebees to the landscape photos of New England fall. The software is easy to use (I use Mac OS), and the battery life seems impressive too. I don’t think I’ve ever actually drained the battery despite frequently forgetting to turn the camera off (it auto sleeps or something like that). It’s a great step from phone to camera photography.
