The inside of the hood has a lot of skinny grooves instead of a flat surface; I don't know if this help with light diffraction or something, but it looks nice.Overall, this hood looks very professional. Highly recommended, especially if you take photos for a living.

I bought a canon RF-70-200mm lens earlier this year, 2022. The lens comes with a large lens hood. Since it takes up a lot of space in my bag, I wanted something similar but smaller. The lens hood from a canon RF-50mm 1.2 wors fine for this purpose.

I bought a canon RF-70-200mm lens earlier this year, 2022. The lens comes with a large lens hood. Since it takes up a lot of space in my bag, I wanted something similar but smaller. The lens hood from a canon RF-50mm 1.2 wors fine for this purpose.
Rather than the bulky white clown-show hood that comes with the RF 70-200 f/2.8 lens, this one is more compact, less conspicuous in size and color, and fits reversed like a glove. Of course, it doesn’t give as much shading or weather protection, but it gives enough for me, plus bump protection. And lens+hood fits better in my bag. Paying extra for another hood is painful, though.
I ordered the Canon EW-83N Lens Hood and it arrived to my house much quicker than I expected. When I opened the box I noticed the lens hood was of flawless quality. Would definitely recommend for anyone who needs this product to purchase it from B&H.
I bought this for my RF 100-500 after somehow misplacing the original 100-500 lens hood. That replacement was almost double the cost of this one. This one actually works better since it is slightly smaller and less wide that the original meaning it fits better in my Shimoda bag. I haven't found a 3rd party lens hood that would fit the RF100-500 but this is an excellent alternative.
More compact than the lens hood that comes with the RF 100-500 and it doesn't have the anoying window that catches on things that the original equipment hood does!
Canon quality at a price. Even for Canon this is over priced. Tried after market version on another lens and was not impressed. Too bad I lost the original. I found that this hood profile works best for this lens.
I got this to use as a smaller, less obtrusive and attention-drawing hood for my RF 70-200. I know the one that comes with the lens is better to prevent flare, but it's so big and, well, white that I never used it. I keep this one on the lens all the time. I use this for protection of the front lens element as well.
Factory replacement for damaged unit so it works as expected. Delivery experience was less than great however. Two days promised - eight days actual.
