The printer works very well. This is a business printer so I can see that novices will have some trouble with all the settings (setting in up). You have to install the Cannon Drivers - Windows adds a driver when you add a printer but it prompts you every time to pick a tray - and paper weight every single print.. I does not with the Cannon drivers - so people need to make sure they use the right drivers. Also without running the Cannon Network Link (Windows) every time - you cannot use the scan from printer to computer function. It looses connection with the printer after about 5 minutes. This is actually an amazing machine. However, I wish they provide better instruction and explanation on the different drivers that can be installed. I am using this to print barcode labels and the default driver does not print clear barcodes. I tried another driver from the canon website and it works 10x better. Absolutely clear barcode; it now prints slower with this driver but it gives great result. I don’t understand the purpose of the many available drivers so I did trial and error. I also setup the printer to scan to email. It took a lot of trial and error to figure it out since I do not understand the instructions in the manual. But once it’s set up correctly, it works beautifully.

The print quality is excellent from what I printed, but the networking and software is terrible. I did not realize that this could not connect to 5ghz wifi. So tried connecting to 2ghz band and I saw two ssids for my 2ghz network. I have two routers in mesh and i had to pick and connect to one of the access points, which was strange and frustrating. Could not connect to the printer from Mac although I was connected to the 2ghz band, but probably not the same mesh node. Was frustrating to get this to print and scan because of the network issues and decided to return. Unbelievable that canon has not addressed these issues keeping the user experience simple in their software.

Bought this printer yesterday after returning 2 different HP officejet printers to another franchise. This printer is amazingly fast and the setup was super easy. I was able to pair wirelessly with my iPhone, iPad, Samsung laptop, Husband’s Lenovo laptop, Dell desktop and android phone with ease and within minutes. The HP previously purchased was so hard to pair with different devices, it took hours. This Cannon is so quiet too. The HP was so noisy that I hated to print anything. My only reservation was that it doesn’t print in color. The $200 discount made this a sweet deal. Ink is a little pricey but there is a 3,000 and a 10,000 page ink cartridge option. Lastly, it has a really small footprint. It sits on top of a 2 drawer file cabinet perfectly.
I have this printer in my home office. The scanner does not work unless it is cable connected to my computer. Defeats the purpose of getting wireless.I was really looking forward to this printer. I love the scanner on this machine the copies actually look better than the original. I rarely need to send a fax now but when I do they go through quickly and the ones I receive look great. You can probably get up to 3000 copies before needing replacement toner if you use a lower print quality but for higher quality print jobs, you will need toner more often. Replacement toner is very expensive so I do use a lower print quality for papers that just go into my personal files.
