I previously owned an Epson printer which failed dismally after 18 months. I had never had a Canon printer before and after looking around online, I settled for a Canon Pixma TR7860 printer. The reasons were due to the need for a compact size printer (as it would be on a shelf above the computer), front paper feed tray (up to 100 pages), the ability to print envelopes, a large colour display on the front that shows the ink status whenever you wish to print, and only requires two (2) cartridges to work. The cost of the cartridges was another element in purchasing this printer as I could now buy the XL cartridge pack (of 2) for less cost than a pack of normal cartridges for the previous printer. I have had this printer a week. I have spent more time sorting out errors than printing. It looks nice, yes, looks as though it will be efficient, but the make seems cheap and sure enough, paper gets jammed at every opportunity and then it says the paper needs to go in the tray better aligned, even when it is perfectly placed as per the demonstration. The idea of it is really nice, the reality does not live up to it though..
